the place decoration and ambiance are top of the line, the selection of wines is incredible good and the food is amazing.
My only complaint was that even though we reserved in advance the only time available was 10 pm. when we arrived the place was mostly empty and while the service was good and courteous they rush the dinner since they close at 11pm. We left before 12am since we were finishing dinner however we felt since arrival we were being kicked out.
Haven was truly a food lovers dream come true. Our server Lamar was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. He made several suggestions that I just couldn't pass on and provided an experience that will keep us coming back. The wine list was extensive and on par with the menu. We can't wait until our next visit.
Food and service was very good however It is extremely loud. Very hard to hear
Lovely Ambiance. Wine selection was terrific. Meet and cheese selections are excellent. Entrees are creative and delicious. Will definitely be back
Absolutely great experience food was wonderful, service was great, although I feel the small plate deal is somewhat over rated. I could have gotten a more bang for my buck at Berns, Charley’s, ect.
Cuisine was elevated. Service was personal, professional, and truly a part of the experience. Excited to return to the restaurant and further my palette with new items. Thank you.
We made reservations for the Saturday after Valentine’s Day and only outdoor seating was available. The patio had plenty of fans and it was a perfect setting. Happy Hour was still going so we got some plates and drink from that menu and the dinner menu. I will definitely be back and would recommend to others!
My wife and I went to The Haven for our Valentine dinner date. The Haven went all out to make the night special and totally pulled it off. They kept reservations on schedule with enough staff with a terrific attitude to make this an awesome date night. It’s not always easy to go out on Valentine’s Day, but TheHaven made it totally worth it.
We were not informed of the set menu for dinner. We were really looking forward to enjoy some meats and cheese’s but were given $90 foie gras options
I have been dining at Haven ever since its grand opening. I’ve never had a bad meal or bad service; it’s always been perfection on every level. Made a reservation for two on Valentine’s Day, and was lucky there was an opening. We arrived on time for the reservation only to learn that the table wasn’t ready. No big deal, it happens; we were offered complimentary champagne while waiting. Ordered off the restricted Valentine’s Day five course menu and ordered drinks. Drinks took about 20 minutes; a bit longer than usual, but hey people get busy. Got first salad course which was tasty…then everything got progressively worse. Waited at least 20 minutes between courses, food was bland, noodles were burned (how do you burn angel hair pasta?), and service was lacking at best. I understand restaurants get slammed and sometimes things take longer than expected, but 30 minutes for three globs of cheese on a plate with some nuts on the side? Come on. Best part is, it wasn’t even really that busy in the restaurant AND dining was from a restricted menu. Service should have been nothing other than excellent. After two hours, we paid the bill and left very disappointed. Cherry on top was when we left to get our car from the value. We waited for him to return from parking a car, gave him our ticket, and he grabbed our keys and was kind of looking for our car. Then he saw an older couple exit the restaurant and proceeded to wait for them, asking if they needed their car too. Of course they did. So dude dropped our keys, grabbed their ticket, car keys and was off. Helped the old couple, then helped another guest valet their car that just drove in, and then back to us. I know I don’t drive a fancy car, that I’m not 70 years old yet, but I was first in line and gave you a nice tip as well. I expect marginal food, bad service, and clueless management at TGIFriday’s when I’m spending $45 on a dinner for two, not when I’m spending $280 at a fine dining establishment.
I wasn’t overly impressed with anything... there is just too much competition in Tampa to be mediocre at anything!
Wow. They did a horrible job. Nice people but incompetent and it was a fixed menus with several courses. The messed up something on each and every course. It became a source of amusement for our group and we got some good laughs. But when you charge this much (. ($100 pp) for fixed menu you should do a much better job. Last visit for us. Btw, the food was good but nothing special.
We had a 6:15pm dinner reservation on Valentine's Day. We arrived on time, and we were seated immediately, and given water within a few minutes. But then it was at least 20 minutes before our waiter came to take even a drink order, after we asked someone to find him for us, and then another 15 minutes for him to take the dinner order. The food and wine were actually quite good. It was a tasting menu with a few options for each of the five courses and the wine and food were not even served at the same time. The frustration about the lack of service overshadowed the overall dining experience. The restaurant was obviously short-staffed. Knowing that, the manager should have stepped in. Our server had too many tables so I imagine that everyone else left Haven with the same experience we had. Good food but not such good service for a special holiday like Valentine's Day.
Wonderful dinner and great service !
I really can't believe this restaurant is the sister restaurant of Bern's Steakhouse. This would have to be one of my worst dining experiences when traveling to Tampa. I travel to Tampa half the year for business and I have never had a such a horrible experience. When I arrived I thought the dining room was beautiful and the overall decor of the restaurant was great. Unfortunately, after that everything went wrong. We had a reservation for 8 that we arrived on time for, but were told that we had to wait for them to find a waiter to service our table, which was about a 10 - 15 minute wait time. When we were eventually seated we were seated outside in the front of the restaurant which was right across the street from a Sunoco gas station. Not only did we get to enjoy the smell of gas fumes while we dined, but we enjoyed the honking of cars driving down the busy South Howard Avenue. We didn't even choose outside seating. When we asked the hostess to change our table she said that they had other reservations coming in soon, so they couldn't change our table. When I asked her why we were put outside and not in the dining room she said the system just automatically assigned us that table and that there was nothing that she could do. We decided to stay after being told that a table inside could possibly free up and that they would move us into the main dining room. That was obviously an empty promise beacuse they never ended up moving us. We had our dinner with the gas fumes in the air and the busy traffic drowning out the converstaion at the table. Sadly that wasn't even the half of it. We ordered a bottle of wine and that took about an hour for us to get not to mention that we didn't recieve any of the appetizers we orders until about an hour and 45 minutes at the table. The total time that we were at this restaurant would have to be about 3 hours. The manager did not try to accomodate us in any way the best he could do was offer us some waters while we waited.
My husband and I went to Haven for date night and loved it! The cheese selections are great, their whiskey list is extensive, and service was excellent. We ordered a few small plates to split, and while the bill was a little pricey, the food was delicious and totally worth the cost. Already planning another date night just so I can go back!
Food outstanding as our table ordered 10-12 different plates. Each item was enjoyed by all and all items complimented all the other items.
Awful menus , tries to be hip and unusual but falls flat. Over priced for stupid menus.
Amazing service and fantastic food!!
Great restaurant! If Lamarl is your waiter get another waiter...extremely rude! Next time I go I’ll refuse him as my waiter! Major attitude!
In Tampa, a great spot for a night out. Their wine selection is wonderful and fairly priced. Food is pretty good and service is excellent.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Waited 10-15 minutes without drinks before a waiter approached. Not a huge deal, but an awkward start to the meal. Would definitely go back.
1st time , great overall dining experience, we'll go back. Study the menu before you go, plan sharing dishes (tapas like)
Great food!! Creative pairings and wonderful service.
I've been an Open Table member since 2007. I have rarely written reviews. My wife and I decided to try Haven at the last minute. We've lived in South Tampa for years but never went to this restaurant.
In short - WOW! First, the staff. Our waiter, LaMarl, was nothing short of fabulous. His knowledge and recommendations were perfect in every way. His personality made the evening. The manager, I'm embarassed that I've forgotten his name, spent time talking scotches, food, and wine with us. We watched him serve, take orders, mix drinks and greet guests. What talent and dedication.
The food. The small plates are creatively divided on the menu. We started with cheese (fresh and flavorful), jamòn ibericò (the freshest we've had outside of Spain), and house made chopped chicken liver (the only one better was made by my wife's grandmother). The bacon pigeon was a creative preparation that we could've eaten all evening. The cauliflower carbonara was another creative, flavorful dish that we've never seen anywhere else. The black cod was fresh, moist, flavorful and wonderful. Finally, the plum tart and the chocolate diamond were outstanding. We drank fantastic single malt scotches, sherry (on tap) with the cheese course, fabulous wine and excellent sauterne.
We made another reservation in two weeks before leaving. This restaurant is spot on in every way.
Never disappoints!! This place is creative, you can dine healthy and the food is superb!
We had one of the best nights at Haven that we have had in a long time. We didn’t have dinner, we had an experience. LaMarl was outlet waiter and we could tell from the beginning that this isn’t a job for him but a career. His suggestions for the drinks were on point as well as the food. Everything That we had was cooked and prepared to perfection. We finished with the Sticky toffee pudding pared with a glass of Madeira wine. One of the best desserts I have had. Wonderful night with great friends. We will definitely be back!
Great experience. Super service..sat in the bar lounge area. We live in St. Pete where restaurants are opening every week but the vibe here is just different. Loved it.
