Inspired by the modern Parisian culinary landscape, chef Tara reinvents classic dishes through her signature approach, blending cross-cultural references and ingredients for a distinctly SoCal expression of French cuisine. Bright touches and hyper-seasonal products ground the menu with San Diego style, while nods to chef Tara’s Southeast Asian background are interwoven throughout. Located in downtown La Jolla in a 1930’s historic building with exposed brick walls, steel trusses, and a barrel-vaulted ceiling. Into this storied shell is inserted a posh 1970’s diner club.

Nearly 70 years after its arrival onto the San Diego boutique hotel landscape, Point Loma’s iconic mid-century modern Pearl Hotel has unveiled the latest chapter in its storied history with an ambitiously reimagined restaurant and bar: Ponyboy. The inspiration behind Ponyboy extends beyond its décor and menu. Named after the protagonist of S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, the restaurant conveys the spirit of individuality and rebellion in a time when hope and resilience were pivotal to navigating the challenges of a changing world. Guests will sense the nod to cultural iconography as they step into a space that feels familiar and refreshingly new. The ambiance is designed to harken back to a bygone era when traditional American comfort foods and elaborate dinner parties were both fashionable and fun. We look forward to seeing you soon, drink in hand, soaking in the sun pool-side. Stay gold, San Diego.

Great food & yummy cocktails once again, only neg is new auto 5%,”Service Charge” on top of their already high prices, not allowing customers to TIP their gift or present or bonus $$$ to servers/helpers. Owners trying to force & “squeeze” their own customers to pay more to them besides food & bev prices is a not smart action. Cheap, a TURN-OFF, low-class, aggressive, no bueno.

My sister and I decided to spend our Thanksgiving lunch at Le Coq in La Jolla, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and a sophisticated yet cozy ambiance that set the tone for our holiday meal. Our waiter, Chris, went above and beyond to make our visit exceptional. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made fantastic recommendations that elevated our dining experience. His professionalism and genuine friendliness added a personal touch that made our Thanksgiving lunch feel truly special. The food was exquisite, with every dish showcasing the perfect balance of flavor, creativity, and presentation. Each bite felt like a celebration, and it was clear that great care and passion went into crafting the menu. Le Coq is a gem in La Jolla, and it made our holiday memorable in the best way possible. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be returning for another unforgettable meal. Thank you to Chris and the entire team for making our Thanksgiving extraordinary! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The best experience in years. The entire hotel staff were smiles and welcoming. Our wait person Michael was a delight. We laughed together over the menu misspellings to our shared college restaurant work experience. Foodies talk about food and take pictures. Our ideal is being relaxed, good company that includes staff, and great food.

We love this spot for its romantic ambiance and delicious, creative food. All of their bread plates are amazing. The Twinkie Caesar salad is the best thing on the menu. But it’s all delightful, especially the burger dessert. All around a wonderful spot.
