The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys. Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen. Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do.     Overall a very nice experience. Staff friendly and welcoming. The only thing not to my liking was peshawar naan. It was quite soggy. But lovely food.

    We had a stop on our way to Ramsgate and we were very pleased with the pub. Great food, friendly service and lovely pub. It has a lovely garden and pla area. It’s fog friendly too. Highly recommended. The only little hitch was we couldn’t book for 7 of us by phone. A few of our a tried for days before but no answer. So we had to book 2 tables for 4 on opentable and hoped we could get the tables together. But it was no problem for the staff to seat us all together.

    We had booked online through this app but unfortunately it didn't show up. The ladies were most helpful and found us a table even though they were exceptionally busy due to it being Mother's day. The food was lovely and hot and plenty of it. Staff so friendly and it's a lovely atmosphere. We have been before and it never fails to impress.
