Best Pre-Theater Restaurants in Lower East Side

My husband and I have been there 4 times within the last 2 months and haven't been disappointed. Excellent food and service!

I took advantage of Restaurant Week to return to L'Express, a familiar, friendly and reliable hangout a half block from my office. I've been going there since it opened thirty years ago, almost coinciding with my firm's first 10-year lease. It's no long a 24/7 dive. Covid took care of that. But what has not changed is the familial warm standard that it has remained in the neighborhood: a place where you can go for an excellent burger, an omelette, a nice piece of fish almost anytime of the day or night.

Dining at La Grande Boucherie was an unforgettable experience. I visited with friends, and everything from the ambiance to the service was exceptional. We started with the tartare and octopus, both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. For the main course, I had the steak, which was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared a variety of desserts, each one exquisite and a perfect ending to the meal. Our server, Nikola, was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. A remarkable restaurant I can’t wait to return to!

Love that there is a place with so many gf options. We had breakfast. Coffee was outstanding. Pancakes were delicious! Bacon and hash a but dry. Would def go again and try differ items. We had a reservation. On a different day we went without one and the wait was only about 15 min.
