Designated historical, 740 is one of Colorado's two oldest remaining saloons; transformed back to its 1904 roots; a traditional American dining saloon with a turn of the century ambiance featuring a magnificent room dominating bar, built in 1880 by the Brunswick Company,. The copper spit trough, once equipped with running water, still exists at the front of the bar. Louisville, notorious for its drinking, gambling, and illegal activities, evidence of the occasional misunderstanding is the .22 caliber bullet hole in the front bar. We sat out on the patio and it was lovely. We stayed dry despite a short downpour. Our service from the moment we walked in was terrific. Our waiter Tyler was attentive, friendly and funny. We enjoyed the sea bass special and tenderloins which were tasty, and the grilled shrimp skewers which were absolutely fabulous. The martinis were served with fun iced vodka sidecars. We will return again very soon. Note: if you want to take advantage of the great happy hour prices and menu in addition to the regular dinner menu you must ask to be seated in the bar area or a specific one of the two outdoor patios. Call to be sure you get the seating you want our put a note in your reservation on-line.
