Excellent as always. Service was good despite the restaurant being busy. Music coming from piano was fun. Food among the best in Colorado Springs.
Wonderful service, amazing meal, thank you!
Valentine’s Day weekend
We had made a Valentine's Day reservation well in advance for an upcoming weekend trip to Colorado Springs. Our flight was delayed seven hours and there was no way we would be on time. I called and explained what had happened knowing that this was one of their busiest days. Even with a full schedule they worked us in at later time. The dinner and service was perfect. Our waiter was great. The entire staff really made a tough day end great.
Friendly staff and was seated right away even though we arrived early prior to our reservation
This was our first visit to The Famous, though we have been wanting to go for a long time. Every minute of it was super enjoyable, and we loved our waiter who made great recommendations on what to order.
Such a great experience from the moment we entered and till we left. The food was exquisite.
Our server Kat, is great! She is so helpful in deciding what drinks and menu items to choose. In addition the other wait staff is very helpful and friendly as well.
The shrimp cocktail was just amazing and our entrées and sides were so delicious. The filet mignon has to be the best in town by far!
We will be back soon!
The food was excellent, the steakes were perfectly cooked and delicious. and the vegetables were delicious, and the wine was wonderful. The service was out standing. We went to the Famous for a special anniversary dinner. It is expensive, but was a memorable enjoyable experience. We will defintly go back for our next special occasion.
Decadent dinner, I would use as more of a special occasion. Only gripe with restaurant is that I felt like my steak was slightly under seasoned. Though, I was wasted so maybe it was fine idk
It was our first time dining here. Our waitress was lovely - just the right combo of professional and nice, attentive but not overly. Everything we drank and ate was delicious! The ambience was charming. We’ll be back!
We love The Famous. The food is delicious and well prepared and the service is always consistently outstanding. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired. The seating is somewhat cramped and it is very noisy when busy. However, the friendliness of the staff overcomes even that minor inconvenience.
Ambiance is great. Excellent wait staff and customer service. Good location for business lunches/dinners. Food is very good but portion sizes are way too large. Lots of waste.
The food was amazing. Probably one of the best steaks I ever had. The cheesecake was delicious. I would totally recommend for the food. Everything we ate was amazing.
For the price, the service was eh. When we arrived, the hostess recognized my husband’s birthday. After that, it was not recognized. Our server was a nice gentleman but there were just some odd moments. Our steak and sides arrived when we were still eating our salad/soup but it took quite sometime to be able to order and get dessert. When we tried to flag him down he kept saying he’ll be right back. I think the table next to us was giving him a hard time. When I asked for the check due to the parking meter expiring (we put two hours on the meter), there wasn’t a sense of urgency. In the scheme of things, none of this was tragic. I never had to wait for my beverage to be refilled. Having been to other high end steakhouses, I just expected the service to be at as high a level as the food.
I had my reservation at 6:30 pm, this saturday but the host lady tell me to wait at the bar for my table, I waited for 20 minutes and after this time my boyfriend went to ask them what was happening, that we have a reservation, this lady said that she thought she gave us a table already..bad service.. if you have a reservation why do you have to wait for a table😡, food was excellent, service on the table perfect.. but not at the beginning... you have to pay more attention to your host.
Excellent the waiter was one of the best we have ever seen. I am a quality control manager for a fortune 500 company. Your establishment is one of the best I have been too out of several countries. I visited one in Croatia at the Intercontinental hotel was of the same standards as yours but in the USA you are one of the best.
Outstanding, as always. A great place that you can count on, every time, thank you!
Disappointed with the menu. In the past smaller cuts of meat were offered. Cannot eat that much. Took part of my ribeye home, but it didn't warm well. Didn't think the sides we're as good as before. Also missed the fresh hot bread.
The food, service and ambiance were excellent. The cost was overpriced which significantly distracted from the dining experience. There are better dining values elsewhere.
Delish as always.
Always a great place to eat. I've been here for New Year's luncheon's to enjoy the great prime rib open face French dip sandwich au Jus, but this was the first time I was here for an evening dinner to enjoy their wag you prime ribeye, with their sour cream smashed potatoes. Lassen California cab on the advice of a well informed server, that's a plus. Five stars
Very nice service. The prime rib was awesome.
Service was very slow. We waited over 20 minutes to get our cocktails. After a couple of apologies from our server for the delay, a manager stopped by to tell us the reason for the delay was the bartender breaking a glass into our drinks (not my problem) and then another 5+ minutes delay. Server was very nice but the restaurant, bar and kitchen were not a well oiled machine.
For New Year's Eve it was a fixed four course menu ($120/person), with five choices for the first course, two choices for the second and fourth course, four choices for the main, or third, course. The service wasn't bad but not great. We ordered the lobster Mac n cheese, wedge salad, 10oz filet mignon, cheese cake. The cheese cake was the best of all courses, the rest of it was mediocre at best. We have eaten here four or five times in the past and always remember it to be very good, not this time. Was not worth the money. Side note; apparently the restaurant/bar doesn't have a blender?! Really? Shouldn't every bar have a blender?
Free standing heaters running through out restaurant. Very cold. Food and service excellent.
The ambiance was great. The staff was excellent and the food was good. The value, in my humble opinion, was only fair.
We brought our employees for Christmas. We spent a lot of money and couldn’t even hear the waitress. The food was ok. We were not given a desert choice. We were just given what the waitress brought out and had to share with everyone at the table. No extra plates were brought out. We will never come back.
The atmosphere was old world, leather booths steak house. Waiter was empty and attentive. The food was really good. We started with mussels that were plump and tender in a light wine sauce- delish! My husband had the onion soup and said it was up there with the best he’s ever had and he orders it a lot- it’s the cheese running down the crock kind of soup with beef bone broth and lots of tender onions inside. I had the wedge salad and it was a meal in itself- smothered in blue cheese and bacon dressing with an amazing tomato( for this time of year where did they get that great tomato?) on the side. Hubby had the New York steak that was more than the 16 oz.. Advertised- grilled to perfection with a ginormous loaded potato we shared. The couple next to us shared there entree and that was a great idea- we came home with a ton of leftovers. I had the rack of lamb- 4 nicely grilled and herbed chops done to a perfect medium. We sampled some cocktails and had a perfect Bombay martini and a desert chocolate cinnamon that hit the spot with a creamy cinnamon vodka concoction. There was a hidden piano player that added to a comfortable, fun atmosphere. Everyone from coat check to water waiters were attentive. It was a great meal- no issues, we’ll be back.
Fantastic Food and Service (Kat was an outstanding)
Everything was good. Service, food and quality was exceptional. It was a very enjoyable evening for everyone.
The food is always terrific, a little pricey, but well worth it. Definitely a special occasion place for us.
Always a great place for lunch. Not too impressed with their Cobb as it was made with spring mix and asparagus. I’d rather see an outstanding traditional Cobb rather someone’s version of a Cobb.
The French Onion soup was outstanding and the burger was very good!
Had steak and lamb both cooked perfectly
Easily the best steak in Colorado Springs. The sides are family size making sharing a must and making The Famous a good value for a high end steak house.
Our steak was cooked to the proper temperature and service was very professional. I will definitely go back!
As a lifelong native, I’ve always wanted to try the Famous. Finally managed to convince my husband to try a new place for steak, and we’re left divided. The service didn’t match the restaurant - I expected someone attentive and personable.. but we felt as if we were just another table for a tip. The food is where we are divided.... the steaks were delicious, but very heavily seasoned. Thankfully my fillet was less seasoned than his NY strip, which worked for our tastes; but the mashed potatoes were served in oil (they were extremely creamy) and the asparagus was served with almost a mayo based hollandaise. (Way too oily and thick for a traditional hollandaise).... it seems flavors are at the heart of the menu, which is fantastic if that’s in line with your tastes. If your tastes align to a more natural palette, it might not necessarily be worth the cost for you. The music was great, and the people watching was just as entertaining as the music.
Booth too small for 6 people. Asked for a medium cooked steak got a medium rare steak. You goto a steak house expecting them to understand temperature of their product. Very frustrating to pay the price for poor product. Didn't complain about it at the time. If they couldn't get it right the first time why bother. Tipped the waiter nicely he was great and professional. The food disappointment wasn't his fault.
I just love this place. The sliced prime rib sandwich is to die for. The mashed potatoes with mushroom wine gravy is divine. The shrimp cocktail is awesome. The service has never fallen short of spectacular!
The food was great! The service was better!
They jammed 5 of us into a booth for 4. The only other option was a table near the kitchen. I made the reservation several weeks prior and was disappointed a better table wasn't available. Prior to sitting, waited at the bar for over 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Dined here several years ago and the level of service has declined. Will not be returning. The entire experience was underwhelming.
