The soul of Spain in the heart of Santa Fe, El Mesón has been serving locals and visitors for almost twenty years. Born in Spain to a Spanish father and American mother, Chef Huertas, opened El Mesón in 1997 to bring the old-world Iberian cuisine and Andalusian family traditions to the City Different. El Mesón offers two dining options. The full menu is offered in El Comedor, or Dining Room. Large oak tables with soft lighting set the stage for your meal, surrounded by reproductions of classic painters, with the strains of Spanish guitar accenting your palate’s Iberian journey.
On the other hand, if you are in the mood for something lighter and livelier, you will find it in the ¡Chispa! Tapas Bar. Reminiscent of an Andalusian patio, this room features Tapas and Live Entertainment. From Tango, to Jazz, to Flamenco there is a beautiful stage showcasing some amazing talent! Too noisy even in dining room. They don’t give separate checks. I had to whip out my calculator and figure out how much each of the other two people owed. That kind of put a damper on the evening.

Wonderful experience from the initial welcome to our waiter to the food. The tapas we had were excellent and folks at nearby tables were raving as well. Extensive list of spanish wines. Be aware of several things. Paella only in the dining room, and made to order so 35-40 mins wait. Bar is fun but noisy. Eat early unless you like a crowd.

We went toEl Meson for the first when visiting with friends to Santa Fe. The menu had many choices and loved the tapas style allowing us to try many different things. The server was helpful with our selections as well as the quantity to order . The value was unexpected and great . Wonderful food at a remarkable price . Have already recommended to friends that are coming to Santa Fe next month.
