Dinner for Two
"Excellent Food and Service at a Reasonable Price"
Food is OK. Service, as always, is scattered. The new bar is good, but the whole place needs an interior re-do
New decor is wonderful. The menu has many good selections. A real gem and value in Santa Fe!
Winner winner stuffed fried chicken for dinner! Amazing food, wonderful staff, great value! What’s not to like?
Slow service, very slow. Food was OK but not anything the 4 of us would return for. 1 hr 45
Min to get food.
The wait staff is lovely, the food is excellent. However, know that you are going to spend a long time here eating..it is an event! 2 of us, ordered the best Caesar salad ever and an entree...21/2 hours later we left...I love pacing the courses but they take this to the extreme.....and they he restaurant was not busy. Would only ask for a little bit better pacing....hour and a half would have been plenty. This was not our first visit and a slow pace seems to be by design.
Good food, wine selection, attentive service and friendly staff. Great for special occasions.
Dinner For Two is the place for casual fine dining in Santa Fe New Mexico. My wife and I have been going there for years, and it is absolutely our favorite place to celebrate any special occasion, including anniversaries, birthdays, family get-togethers, and romantic dates. We had our rehearsal dinner there, and it is an absolutely delightful memory. Chef Andy Barnes has been cooking there as long as it’s been open, and he is a wonderful person, and fantastic chef. He is both solid and creative, and not above a sense of whimsy (Haute Dogs ... beanie weanies dressed in truffle oil featuring pork belly). He does a number of tables side dishes, including housemaid Caesar salad, banana fosters, and shut up you’r he does a number of tables side dishes, including housemaid Caesar salad, banana fosters, and chateaubriand (all for two or more).
I love this place I eat here every time I'm in town. The service is great and the food is always solid. Great steaks and the mole enchalada is amazing.
I enjoy watching the kitchen cook while enjoying their great margaritas
We have eaten at Dinner For Two on other occasions & have been impressed, but not this time. All four of us ordered the “table side” Caesar salad. While impressed with the presentation, we couldn’t taste enough of the lemon or Parmesan... we were thinking he made the dressing for only 2 people.
When it was time for dessert my husband ordered coffee. Since he hadn’t received it when our dessert arrived he ordered it again. It never did come!
Don’t know if we’ll take company here again.😢
The Sunday three course special is a remarkable value. Great restaurant!
Always a great experience dinning at Dinner for Two! Tableside caesar salad was great!
The manager here needs to learn that the diner experience is more important than his. His lack of consideration for us totally killed our evening.
The fish was too dried out and the veal piccata was too tough.
The Sunday 3-course dinner is an incredible bargain. My mushroom soup was outstanding and the entree l, diver scallops pasta, was very good. Portions were large enough that I took home some food. Our waiter was not up to the caliber I am used to at Dinner for Two. Needs a little training.
I have been coming to Dinner for Two for the last five years (once a year). This is the first time that I have felt a disappointment in your restaurant. The food was amazing as always but the service lacked. Our waiter was extremely efficient but I felt he had too many tables to be on top of each one. Also we couldn’t get any Chocolate martinis and the drink they substituted was disgusting.
This is a good steak and seafood place. Food was good but not great. It's a bit dark, with a bar, so better for evening. Very good service. Close to downtown so walkable for tourists or for business meals.
I invited my girlfriend out to dinner as she had never been there. We had the prime rib and it was chalky and had tons of fat and gristle in it. I did not even eat 1/4 of mine. When we both gave our experience to the waiter and the manager, they said they were sorry. Not only do I feel that they should have invited us back at another time for dinner, but as the minimum comped the meal. They didn't even ask if we wanted this huge piece of meat to take home to our dogs. I left my written remarks and my phone #, but have had no response from the management.
The staff went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience!
Food was not good and overpriced. Disappointing. We wouldn’t recommend nor return.
Outstanding Service, food, and ambiance.
We hadn't been to this restaurant for quite a long time. Favorably impressed, and I'm glad we went again.
The Manhattan cocktail contained a spicy cinnamon flavored ingredient and came with a plastic straw attached to the outside of the glass. It was not the expected standard Maker’s Mark Manhattan that I ordered, and worse there was no warning it would be so.
We were seated at a corner table under a loud speaker, playing upbeat Latin techno music, a single bright light bulb shining on us, nicely highlighting the dying table flowers, and we had a really great view of the Dali-ish dismembered lady painting on the wall. Certainly not the expected romantic atmosphere of a restaurant named “Dinner for Two”.
Unusually strong salad dressing overly applied, masking all the other flavors in the salad.
The delicate flavors of the Mussels were drowned out by an excessive and overly strong tomato sauce.
Unfortunately, the smoked prime rib was overly smoked, with the strong smoke flavor masking the taste of the prime rib. Cutting off the smoked areas allowed it to be eaten.
Summary: Food tasted like median, over spiced, bar food. It definitely was not a fine dining cuisine experience, nor was it deserving of its high prices.
The filet Oscar was cooked to the perfect temperature(some places are afraid to do a proper rare). The best I've ever had. The table side Caesar preparation was fun, and the cocktails were quite nice. We will be returning.
noise level was loud. sorry that plain steamed vegetable side dishes are not readily available. seems only highly sauced items with peppers are available.
This is the first time we dined at Dinner For Two since they remodeled. Their air conditioning seemed to be working which made for an enjoyable dining experience.
I was looking for a nice restaurant within walking distance of the Inn at Vanessi and had walked by this place, earlier in the day. From the outside, you would never expect what is INSIDE, which is a beautiful white tablecloth restaurant, with art on the walls and live dinner music. The ambiance was just right for our party of six and having a place like this offer table-side Caesar and Bananas Foster makes for a lovely old school experience. Everyone had a great meal at a very good value. My lamb chops and the hubby's veal Marsala were perfect.
Enjoyed celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. The service was perfect , the food was delicious and there was live relaxing guitar music.
Awesome dinner & food experience and great service😋
We have dined here several times and have yet to be disssapointed by service or quality of food. We love the salad being prepared at the table. A real treat and it tasted so good! Great job?...
We were very pleasantly surprised by their remodel. It is fresh and more open. We went for their prime rib special which is always consistent. The calamari and shrimp appetizer was delicious. Our only disappointment was in the Caesar Salad, the greens were not crisp. We recommend it !
Sunday special appetizer entrée dessert for 24.99
I always eat here when I visit Santa Fe ..ITS A MUST!
Very comfortable venue for dinner for a special occasion, meeting friends, date night. Food is always great. We had the Idaho trout and Filet Oscar--both outstanding. One of us had the peach plum salad which was delicious looking and tasting. The menu is for everyone's palate. We have been going to Dinner 4 Two for 15 years. The changes recently made are really great. The seating is so comfortable, the dinging area is opened up and attractive. We just find this restaurant to be inviting and fun.
As out of “towners” we waited for service from cocktails to meal service while the hostess and other management were completely focused on customers I assumed to be locals. There are too many good restaurants in Santa Fe to waist time here.
So great! Thank you Robert for a great experience!
Dinner for Two did not disappoint. Everything was outstanding. The Caesar Salad for two is a must! The service was exceptional too. My husband can’t stop talking about it!
We love it at Dinner for Two. Second year in a row we went there for our anniversary. Drove from Denver and spent the week. Love Santa Fe.
Server was not very attentive, food was lukewarm when it came out. When we asked to see a desert menu, he tried naming off all the deserts instead (I like to read the descriptions, I'm very visual). The prime rib was delicious, just wish it was hotter.
We went for Happy Hour, which was very good. The blood orange margarita was excellent, as were the mussels and coconut shrimp. The bartender was friendly and attentive. We had to wait a while to be seated which was fine given that we were early for our reservation but actually not because there were many empty tables. But it turned out the head waiter, whose name we do not know, told us they were short-staffed. Both he and the other waiter were very nice and attentive but very rushed. The peach and plum salad was good but also appeared to be rushed in its presentation. My rib steak was good with a lovely pepper sauce. My husband’s scallops with fettuccine were bland. Fun, unusual little restaurant—could be great.
The food was ok to good. Price ok. Service was slow; waiter said he would be back with water, he didn't, we took the carafe of water from table next to us, it was not used. The chair I sat on had rollers so I was constantly moving. We asked for limes for our glass of water, they show up with lemons, he said he would be back with some, you guessed it! The limes never arrived.
