Dinner for Two
"Excellent Food and Service at a Reasonable Price"
Regular customers but never on a Sunday, not what we expected fixed menu with upgrades $$$$ we will be back but never on a Sunday.
How did we miss this place all these years?! Dinner for two is great. Full wine menu, lots of special cocktails, and great food. Several things prepared tableside, like Caesar salad and bananas Foster. We will be back.
Dinner for 2 is a consistent with great food, service restaurant. I just sorry I forgot my to go leftovers. Enjoyed the evening on multiple levels. Thanks for another wonderful dining experience in Santa Fe.
Nice atmosphere, but sauce on thee chicken tasted burnt. We chose the restaurant from a magazine add that said they had gluten free- but the server was clueless to what gluten is and even after suggesting he check with the kitchen he didn’t.
It is a lovely family owned place. Everything about it was welcoming. Service terrific and food just lovely.
This was an anticipated and very disappointing experience. When we booked we commented this was pre-opera. We arrived on time and told the hostess when we had to leave. We also told our server. However, after a time consuming table side Caesar salad preparation, we again told our server about the time constraint. Our dinners had still not arrived five minutes before we had to depart, so we asked for our meals, just available, to be put in takeaway containers. There was no apology. They sat in our trunk for the duration of the opera. The food, then cold and soggy, appeared to be well prepared and tasty. All in all, a completely unacceptable experience.
Robust menu with something for every taste. Accommodating for food allergies. Attentive service.
Dinner was very good! I had the fish sampler with salmon, crab cakes and coconut shrimp. Best crab cakes that I have tasted. Will eat there again next time I visit Santa Fe.
Everybody that served us from bar to dinner table were awesome. The appetizer, soup, and main entrees were all very tasty.
We love this restaurant. They do not make the table side Caesar on sundays but they have a phenomenal special in its place; 3 course dinner for 24.95 and we can’t see how the tressautant makes anything on it! The choices and portions are fabulous and the quality continues to make this a favorite restaurant.
We had a great dining experience at Dinner for Two, wonderful service, great wine selection and the crab cakes appetizer was amazing. We had the fettuccine with scallops and the frenched crispy chicken.
We’ll definitely be returning!
The food was delicious. The waitstaff flawless in their organization and attention to detail. Welcoming atmosphere, yet respected our privacy. This was our 3rd time to dine at Dinner for Two. It has been a 5-star experience each time!
Outstanding customer service. Unpretentious quality experience.
The mushroom soup is a must!
Waiters either inexperienced or poorly trained. Overall, a disappointing experience that we will not have again.
Nice place and staff.
We were extremely disappointed. The restaurant is outdated and the entrance is awkward. Tables are close to each other so it is impossible not to hear other conversations. My husband ordered wine which was delivered within 5 minutes but my drink took close to 1/2 hour and was delivered after our appetizer and soup and right before our dinner. I drank all my water and it was not refilled until I asked for it. The calamari shrimp mixto was disgusting and a very small portion. The mushroom soup was delicious as were the twin lobster tails but once again the lobster tails were so small they were eaten in 3 bites each. The filet was raw, then burnt but they did fix a new one but by that time we just decided to take it home. They apologized and offered a dessert on the house. We ordered the bananas foster and it took about 25 minutes before they were able to get to us and by then the ice cream was melted so when the hot banana mixture was poured on it turned into a melted mess. I hope it was just an off night but I dont think we will give them a second chance.
I went to Dinner for Two while in Santa Fe for a guys golf weekend. Ribeye streak was delicious and a great value. Side dishes complemented the meal nicely and the home made corn bread was amazing. I'd recommend Dinner for Two if as a value priced option to the other high end steak restaurant in Santa Fe.
The location has issues with parking but everything near that area has the same problem so you'll need to use a public parking facility nearby and walk to the restaurant.
Our first time to visit Dinner for Two and we will definitely go back. The food was excellent and the menu was varied enough it was hard to choose. Great service from our waitress, Katie.
No words to explain....
Just terrible food, cold, over cooked and again would not recommend!
We love Dinner for Two! From the moment you walk through the door, you know you are going to have a great experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and our meal was outstanding, as was the service. Chef/Owner, Andy Barnes, now turned host, has his eye on every detail and it all works beautifully!
Excellent restaurant and great staff. Margaritas are fantastic and steak was very good. Key lime pie is a must
We come to Dinner for Two every time we visit Santa Fe. It is one of our very favorites. We enjoyed Happy Hour first, an absolutely unbeatable value, before moving on to dinner. My husband enjoyed the soft shell crab while I dined on beef stroganoff, both wonderful. The service is always so personal without being overbearing, you truly feel taken care of. The wine selection is unparalleled and the cocktails are delectable. A true gem in Santa Fe. We will definitely be back.
Staff was attentive and friendly, and very accommodating. Food was amazing! The Caesar Salad is a must! We had a great time, thank you!! I would highly recommend Dinner for Two; we will be back! Another one of Santa Fe's hidden gems.
Dinner for Two hits all the high notes! Gracious, welcoming, and outstanding food! Sunday nights are not to be missed.
Consistently yummy and service is a rare find in Santa Fe! Of course, our waitress is not from New Mexico but it is always refreshing!
Great time, service and food again. The first time was on Valentine's Day, 2019. We enjoyed our evening so much that we brought our almost son- in-laws there later. I highly recommend Dinner for two.
Everything was good except for the waiting time to get the food...
We will return often, but they NEED Bacardi Silver rum for us to return to just the bar
Went to this restaurant on our last nigh in Santa Fe. It was great!! Food was exceptional and so was the
service. did not have the bottle of wine that I wanted, but discounted a more expensive one to the same price. Great discovery on the wine and restaurant!! Will definitely try both each again
Good news and bad news. First the good news, the food was excellent. Some of the best in Santa Fe, especially if you are looking for a great steak. An interesting menu, impressive wine list and fabulous cocktails. The bad news, service is either excellent or woefully inadequate. Unfortunately for us ours was exceptionally spotty. Two of us received and finished our appetizers before the other were served! We had to ask for bread three times before it was brought to our table. One person at our table received and half finished her entre before the others were served. To take this from a three star experience to a five star experience the owners need to better train the waiters.
Very good romantic dinner. It's kind of a "hole in the wall" restaurant but the delicious food and exceptional service make you forget that quickly. Definitely should be on everyone's list don't miss the tableside Caesar salad, the ribs appetizer and the Chateaubriane (SP?). We would fly back for this dinner alone!
Good neighborhood restaurant a few blocks off the main tourist area. We share appetizers - the crab cakes were the best.
Excellent dinner and drinks. Exterior of building looks pretty nondescript and interior looks a bit dated, but food and drink quality more than made up for aesthetics. Go for their Margarita Monday special and splurge on the "Gold" margarita for premium tequila and cognac instead of triple sec. So smooth and delicious! Filet Mignon was excellent and fried chicken stuffed with cheese and green chiles was a big hit. We celebrated a birthday and hostess chose us a very quiet and romantic table. Favorite meal of our visit to Santa Fe.
The oyster mushroom soup was divine - silky and decadent. The table side Caesar salad is exceptional. The entrees were great, but the side dishes are lackluster. For the price, I’d like to see more attention to them - elevate them some. The crab cakes are a bit sweet for my taste, and I feel like they were a bit lacking in crab, but they are good. The salmon was not as flavorful as I had hoped and could have used a sauce, but it was not dry. The cocktails were delicious, but a bit overpriced. The service was super, though I was never asked about our special occasion even though I indicated it during the reservation process. This is one of our favorite restaurants, so we will be back.
Service was excellent- staff was knowledgeable about their menu and the ingredients.
Very nice décor and the live music provided was at a level that you could still have a conversation at your table.
This is one of Santa Fe's gems. The dining room is comfortable. Cocktails, wine, and food are high quality and the prices are very reasonable. Andrea was out server. It was her first night. She was terrific! Not a false step. We especially recommend the Sunday evening $25 three-course special.
Great Caesar salad, chateaubriand, and bananas Foster. We like this place a lot. Good wines also!
Food was undistinguished. Had crab stuffed trout and could not tell the stuffing from the trout. My wife had the veal marsala, but we had identical sides. And the marsala sauce was thin and light on the marsala. The restaurant features table-side preparation on Caesar salad and bananas Foster. However, service can suffer if your server is doing the preparation for another table. The restaurant features steaks and seafood. However, most of its steaks come with toppings and/or sauces. What's to hide?
D42 is always an excellent choice. Happy hour offerings are tasty and a good value.
