Dinner began in the late 90s with Heston Blumenthal’s fascination with historic gastronomy. The savoury ice creams of the late 1800s, the theatre of the Tudor dining experiences and the dishes of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland all resonated with his unique approach to cooking. Dedicated to the modern day discovery and evolution of dining he realised that the excitement and obsession with food is no new modern day phenomena. Together with the team Heston created a menu that takes those discoveries and fascinations of history into a new and evolving modern dining experience. Researching 14th century cookbooks such as those by the royal chefs of King Richard II to Lewis Carroll’s flights of fancy. Working with food historians, tapping into the world of Museums, the British library and the team at King Henry VIII's Hampton Court Palace - from this, the very modern dining experience of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal was born.

    Our visit to Diner was long awaited and we were not disappointed! The service was exemplary from the moment we arrived to the moment we left while the food was every bit as good as we expected. The Hereford beef was delicious while we were quite taken by the meat fruit starter -as for the nitro ice cream this was a delightfully theatrical experience and not to be missed. Heston has created a lovely restaurant but the staff and chefs are the real stars! If you get the opportunity to have a meal here you will not be disappointed, worth every penny.

    Powdered duck a massive disappointment. Steaks fine but not as good as elsewhere. Puddings excellent. Would we go back? No.

    For years I wanted to have diner by Heston Blumenthal. For the Fat Duck I was too late, but this was an opportunity. As a foody the expectations were high. What I encountered was not Blumenthal as I had in mind, but a London dining adapted kitchen, away from the brightness of the master. That does not mean that the food was not ok, certainly not but I wanted to taste a number 4 world chef. I am sure, Mr. Blumenthal will come back with his genius food parings, inventions, brightness, and then I will be there. Thanks anyway for the overall food, ambiance, service etc.

    Fantastic dining experience! The food was amazing and we received top notch service. We were impressed by the menu and its blend of history and modernity. One of the servers shared that months of research on British food history serves as the menu's inspiration (including a recipe that was printed on calf skin several centuries ago). If available, try the Frumenty, brown bread ice cream, and pineapple tipsy cake.

    ALL good though service was slower and less flexible than on previous visit. Food A1 , drinks pricey but wine advice good . Only issue was needed to ask to bring post dessert icecream with dessert as only one guest had dessert others ice cream in lieu. Management visible but standoffish .

    Booked a two weeks in advance and was pleased to get my desired date and time. It was to celebrate a friend's belated birthday. Wait staff are lovely and they recommended and explained the dishes clearly. We ordered the octopush and the meat fruit to start - both were great. I had the pork chop and my friend had chicken - again both great, but I thought the pork was better. Desserts were to-die-for! Pricey, so it's not every day dining, but you've gotta try it once.
