We love this restaurant. It is perfect for dinner before a play at Taproot Theater. Service is warm and friendly (and prompt) and ambience is great - quiet music. It is hard anymore to find a restaurant that it not so noisy that it is hard to carry on a conversation. The menu is truly Mediterranean with many choices, and dishes are delicious. I gave 4 stars on food this time because my husband's lamb chunks were "chewy and sinewy" (although the ground lamb kofteh was fine.

Sushi
Belltown / Pike Place Market
About the restaurant
Sushi Kashiba is Seattle's destination for Japanese fine dining at its highest level. Located right next to historic Pike Place Market. Take a coveted seat at the Omakase sushi bar, where you just might find multi-James Beard Award nominated Chef Shiro Kashiba hard at work.

Ordering one of Sushi Kashiba's chef curated sushi dinners is probably your best bet. The cuts of salmon, toro, tuna, yellowtail and other fish are always fresh and beautifully presented. The meal is finished off with Sushi Kashiba's trademark cake-like egg dessert. The restaurant also features à la carte items like agedashi tofu, oysters on the half shell and Chef Kashiba's New York Times featured black cod kasuzuke.

Consistently professional, fresh sushi and educated staff. Everyone on their staff still wear masks for some apparent reason. Corkage fee for Seattle restaurant average 25.00. They charge $45.00 and a very expensive yet limited wine list. Always nice to see Shero (owner/Chef) in the kitchen as well as stopping at several table to say hello. Rare these days in Seattle restaurants.

Violet is consistently one of the top restaurants in Seattle. We were a party of four with two out of town guests. We ordered the American Omakase meal with vegetable, fish, and meat courses but without the foie gras. The chef easily accommodated one guest who does not eat beef. As always at Violet, the fish courses were superb--the chef has a real touch with both crude and cooked fish. Plating was lovely and creative, worthy of a starred restaurant. Service was attentive. Wine list is interesting if a little over priced. The restaurant is very loud and would not be good for anyone with hearing problems. It was perhaps worse this evening because there were some very noisy guests. We return to Violet several times a year because it is so very good. Bravo.

Tex-Mex
Columbia City
About the restaurant
Tex-Mex cuisine began in the Rio Grande Valley before migrating up to San Antonio during the l860's where a group of women known as The Chili Queens' began to pop up in the city's plazas selling chili con carne with tamales, enchiladas, and chili verde. They incorporated cumin into their dishes favored by settlers from the
Canary lslands, which still has a strong influence on Mexican food in Texas. Tex-Mex also loves beef, flour tortillas, yellow cheese, fajitas and more.

Our inspiration comes from the many classic Tex-Mex restaurants including Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen, Papasito's, Ninfa's, Blue Goose, Hugo's, Herrerra's Cafe, Chuy's, Valentina's Tex-Mex and many more. Jackalope combines excellent Central Texas-style smoked meats from Jack's BBQ with delicious Tex-Mex dishes. lt's truly the best of both worlds!

This is such a fantastic restaurant! Our adult kids love it when we treat them to the Jackalope experience. The dishes are always incredible, brisket, smoked meats, and their drink menu is equally as stellar. My husband and I tried brunch last week and were as impressed. If you have t been yet, go!
