Best English Restaurants in Canonbury

Excellent food served professionally and politely in a quiet location in the restaurant as requested. Slight delay in getting the bill didn’t detract too much from what was a lovely evening out.

It's the second time I've eaten at St John Bread and Wine. This time we were there as the doors opened at 5.30pm, before a concert at the Barbican. As we ate our bread and sipped our wine, we watched the place steadily fill up and the happy sound of diners filled the room. The dishes we chose were so good, particularly the sole which was delicate and flavoursome, wholesome big fat chips and fresh crunchy kohlrabi. The convivial dining hall atmosphere is relaxed and informal, as are the knowledgeable and helpful staff. The love of food shines through.

Food of very good quality and service prompt. My only observation is that with hard floors and walls the noise levels can rise. There was a large wedding party in when we visited which exacerbated things.
