Chef Roger Shakes previously head chef at ‘Mango Room’ in Camden Town where he cooked for stars, heavyweights and luminaries from around the globe.Originally from Westmoreland, Jamaica, Roger came to London in 1999 where his first employment in a restaurant was washing plates. “A stones throw away from Dalston Kingsland Station you will find The Dalston Jazz Bar. It’s a full on restaurant up until 10 PM. They serve an array of fresh seafood as well as yummy beer from a local brewery and cocktails. The live band plays throughout the night with a few breaks. As usual the food and service was everything I have come to expect from this excellent restaurant. My starter of pork ribs was beautifully prepared succulent tender and full of flavour and my main course of The Roger's Kitchen Signature curry goat a favourite of mine was as I was anticipating fantastic. To finish off I enjoyed the Caribbean fruit cake with rum and raisin ice cream. At the end of our meal, as we were belatedly celebrating birthdays we were offered a complimentary glass which was a lovely touch to a great experience. Roger's Kitchen is precisely where Caribbean cuisine needs to be in the 21st century as a person from this very culture it makes me extremely happy to make this statement once again. Keep up the stellar work.
