    It was my wife’s birthday and we went for lunch. Hadn’t been in awhile because the last few times the service was not good. Yesterday was amazing. Great server, service, drinks and food out fast. Excellent meal. At the end of the meal the manager came and greeted my wife and gave her a complimentary flan ……with a birthday candle. A great day at the Columbia! Thank you!

    The food and sangria were excellent, as always! Leslie, our server last night (on 7/22/25), was outstanding and made the experience at Florida's oldest restaurant even more superb and enjoyable than usual.

    A Cuban from Miami visiting Tampa We went with my 90 year old mother while visiting Ybor city and were delighted with the beautiful Spanish style architecture and the delicious food Had the famous Cuban sandwich, palomilla steak and a ropa vieja platter. Everything was truly cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the place PS the Cuban bread was better than the one we have at restaurants in Miami

    We requested a specific "room" in the restaurant (The Red Velvet room) in my initial reservation requested as it was my wife's 65th birthday. When we got to the restaurant we were told there was already a large party in that room. Why did OpenTable NOT do the "due diligence" to see if that specific room was available on the SPECIFIC date and time of our reservation? Had we been notified it was already being used at the time we requested we COULD HAVE chose a different day, time or both. However it was not until we have driven an hour to the restaurant and were in the building that we were notified the room was taken. WHAT is the purpose of using a reservation service such as "Open Table" is you do not do due the diligence of meeting the specific requests of those who choose to use your service?

    The Columbia rarely disappoints but tonight it was especially wonderful. My husband and I arrived early for our 9 pm reservation and waited in the Bar while listening to the house band and sipping on a 1905 dirty martini and red sangria. After being called for our table we were seated in the garden room. The restaurant was buzzing with activity but we were quickly greeted by our friendly server. We ordered a large 1905 Salad to split and both ordered the Grouper Jimmy. Our server quickly brought us water and their amazing hot Cuban bread with butter (Yum). All of our food arrived in a timely fashion, beginning with the table-side prepared salad. The 1905 Salad is always fresh and delicious, but tonight the “Grouper Jimmy” topped with blue crab meat and served with yellow rice and asparagus stole the show!! I get this dish often, but tonight was the best I’ve ever had! All of the menu items I’ve had are really good, but the fish served at the Columbia (including their Pompano and Snapper) are the freshest and best in town! To me however, the Grouper with blue crab meat is top notch and the yellow rice with asparagus is the perfect match. My only criticism during this visit was that our server disappeared after our meals were served and we waited 15 minutes after requesting our check. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
