   I was trying to show off one of Calgary’s best restaurants to someone from out of the country. It was brutal. We ordered food, waited about 45 minutes for it to arrive and all 4 steaks were wrong. We ordered 3 x 8oz Tenderloin Steaks medium rare and 1 12oz New York Strip Steak medium well. We received 3 strip steaks and 1 sirloin which was also medium rare, not medium well. We were offered new steaks but we didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes and we didn’t want the steaks to be thrown away. The meal was $443 before tax and tip and felt we would have been better off going to another place. Not a great experience.

   Whole experience was amazing, very accomodating and mad sure everything was great. Food was delicious!

   Really good food. We were there on a really quiet night, basically ourselves and one other couple dining. Service was prompt, really friendly staff. Nice ambience

   Cannot say enough good things about Charbar. It’s a regular in our rotation of favourites in Calgary. We enjoyed the Argentinian prawns, grilled octopus, table-side ceviche, and 12 oz steak with chimichurri. All delicious and well proportioned. The service was great, as always. Highly recommended.

   Everything slathered in chimichurri made everything taste the same- and is not traditional Argentine style. The provoleta was bland cheese covered in chimichurri, the steaks were okay, but covered in chimichurri, the pork flank and beans... you guessed it- covered in chimichurri. In the desserts area, too many additional flavours lost the essence of the simple desserts they were meant to be ; eg. coarse grated coconut coconut covering the berlinesas with custard, orange flavours in the tres leches cake. I guess if you like exploring new tastes this may be your spot but not at all like a traditional Argentine parrilla.

   Perhaps the worst dining experience in Calgary. Food took forever. Steak was sent back as it was way over cooked. Told the manager how disappointed we were his response was “noted” We ate there 3 years ago it was great. I’m guessing they will close soon as you cannot operate a restaurant charging the prices they do and offer the horrible service and food quality we received

   Very disappointed in the portion size of the sable fish. For the price, it was ridiculously small. Very tasty and cooked perfectly. Some shrinkflation involved.

    The steak didn’t come with a steak knife, because it didn’t need to be cut with anything that sharp! Delish and very good meat, will eat here again
