Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Bow Valley Ranch has been a favourite our family's for years. More so for celebratory dinners or holidays. We've hosted corporate dinners here too. Our youngest and oldest both have food allergies to different things (one to all nuts and the other is celiac). We always worry about them dining out but the front and back of house takes such good care. It really is like eating at home...but just better!
The setting is absolutely amazing (with Fish Creek Park as the back drop), the old heritage house is nostalgic and charming. The menu is creative and out right perfect (especially when paired with their recommended wines).
If this spot is just a little closer to home, it would be a regular dining location.
Our expectations were quickly lessened once we looked at the prices of wine list and main course menu. The appetizers and entree’s we had we felt were ok, but did not meet the price levels asked. We were there on our 48th anniversary, which we indicated when we reserved, but no mention from the servers that they knew. I doubt we would be back here in the future.
I had been here four or five times already before the booking birthday brunch on December 17. I had loved the food and ambience previously. Especially I was satisfied with both the food and service on what was meant to be an extra special occasion. I think next time I definitely need to go back for another brunch with my friends.
Easily one of the best experiences when it comes to dinning. The service was superb, Dana was very informative and made the experience at Bow Valley Ranche incredibly enjoyable. Francis, was very polite and always came by and topped up drinks whenever it was needed. The atmosphere was also fantastic. Lastly ofcourse the food was perfect. The beef tenderloin and duck as main courses were cooked to perfection. The appetizers were wonderfully put together, these included the oysters and Elk Tar Tar which were excellent to start with. We will be returning indefinitely to Bow Valley Ranche. The entire experience was perfect!
Went for the chefs menu as we had a couple of years ago. Asked for a table by the fire.. they had a group event so we were in a smaller room with, as the hostess said, a view of the fireplace.
Service seemed a bit rushed, like they wanted us out of there quickly.
Wasn't as good as we recall it when we first went. Recommend not going during the busy holiday season.
We went for our anniversary dinner - a bad choice. Too much noise for various holiday celebrations. While the food was excellent, we didn't stay as long as we might have (for wine/dessert) because it was toooooo loud. We could barely hear ourselves talking. Happy to see the restaurant full of holiday celebration tables - not a good place for a couple on a special evening.
We went for Thursday night “Jazz Night”. Can’t say we heard jazz, but the guitar music was a nice backdrop for our evening. Our waiter, Cameron, was outstanding. He seemed to anticipate every need and want. Great service, excellent food and lovely ambiance. A perfect evening out.
We heard about this place through a friend and decided to come by for some lunch. It was definitely worth the drive! We were sat by the fireplace in the main dining room but I believe there were other side rooms available as well. It would be a good place to host a private function. We had the charcuterie to start (they called it the ploughman's platter) and my fiance ordered the striploin and I ordered the salmon. Both entrees were delicious and the service was professional and prompt.
We can't wait to come back and try out their dinner menu options; our server also mentioned that there's a chefs' tasting menu on Sundays! Highly recommend taking a trip out here, we're now considering hosting our wedding reception here!
We went to celebrate a birthday. The wine list was incredible with excellent choices at all price points. The prawn appetizer was outstanding and the tenderloin and duck breast were cooked to perfection. The service was also excellent. The only drawback for this occasion was the overall noise level in the main dining area as the place was packed (which is also a attests to the quality)
We will definitely be returning.
Loved this restaurant! Very cozy
We had the surf and turf for two . Which was delicious , but could have been better . More steak for two people. The steak serving was too small for the price we paid. But delicious . Good servers here . And the live music was nice !
The ambience is very nice. The service was pretty good.
The menu is rather limited. I had the Atlantic cod. It came with a nice crispy edge but was a tad over done on the inside (still tasty). It was served atop a medley of creamed vegetables which IMHO did not compliment the cod. The sauce was bland. I ordered it because it was served with fingerling potatoes but there were just a couple of slices mixed in. The serving was pretty small especially compared to the other dish ordered I.e. Milk fed pork. The pork dish was very tasty and well presented. Creme brûlée very nice. When making the reservation we indicated a special occasion but it was not mentioned.
The location and ambience make this place special.
Food quality and flaovur is middle of the road. Wine list very expensive with only a few botles undr $100. Service is a little under average for a restaurant at this peice. Have been here 4 or 5 times since new ownership hoping it would get better becuse we love the venue, unfortunately it remains mediocure at best.
