Bouchard Restaurant and Inn
Due to the style of our restaurant, it would be inappropriate for children under the age of seven (7).
At Bouchard Restaurant, a warm relaxed ambiance and gracious welcome signals your arrival. The restaurant serves fine French cuisine in a 1785 Georgian-style house.
excellent service and food, especially the seafood appetizer and the cod special.
Great service, excellent food, terrific drinks/ wine selection.
Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. Our server Dan and Ben were outstanding!!! Looking forward to our next visit!!
Bouchard never fails to deliver exceptional and highly creative dishes. Really remarkable. We have been to Bouchard many times over the years and have never been disappointed.
The staff treats you always special and never had a bad meal. So many details in the preperation and the taste. Can't say enough about it. Great to go gor dinner for 2 or with a group of friends.
I love this restaurnt! Great food, great ambiance, and superb service!
Excellent traditional French cuisine with classic formal dinner service. Staff is extremely professional, attentive and friendly.
This restaurant is a gem of Newport. Creative French cuisine that is well thought out and made to impress. The staff is matched to this high level with being very knowledgeable about the food and drinks without making you feel uncomfortable.
Excellent both food and service. I’d give 6 stars if that was possible.
Always impeccable. We had so much fun and all was delicious.
This visit was for a special occasion - my husband’s birthday dinner! We usually eat a mostly plant-based diet, but this was definitely a good place to have some filet mignon and duck breast. We were not disappointed! Both dishes - the filet with demi-glacé and duck coated with ground coffee in a brandy sauce - were tender, delicious, and exquisite. The perfect accompaniment for each was a colorful, beautifully-constructed and delicious “bouquet” of vegetables: flowerettes of butternut squash and mashed potatoes, a blossom of broccoli, and “leaves” made of slivered summer squash, caramelized onions and snap peas. We enjoyed a fabulous home-baked dinner roll before dinner while our wine breathed, and we saved room for their over-the-top chocolate mousse cake for dessert - the plate was adorned with birthday wishes in French, written in chocolate. Magnifique!
Wonderful as always! Not a lot of true French restaurants around us and I am always happy to see that it remains popular (though note that it also means that you need to plan ahead especially in the summer!).
Great service and food
Once again visiting Newport, RI for weekend getaway. Would not be complete without a visit to our favorite restaurant, Bouchard. From the cozy and intimate atmosphere, welcoming and attentive staff, and mouth watering menu, you will not be disappointed. Our favorite selections from the menu are the stuffed lobster, sliced filet of beef, and a new favorite, incredibly delicious are the seared scallops!! When in town, do not pass up the opportunity to dine at this amazing restaurant. Can't wait for our next visit.
Everything was superb, as usual.
Wonderful food and very accommodating. Great choice for a special occasion!
We had a lovely dinner, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary- the food was fabulous, service on point, ambiance perfect.
Delicious food in a classic setting. The service was extremely attentive.
Loved it as usual
Romantic, authentic, and delicious. Every minute was delightful. Accomodations were thoughtful and comfortable. Looking forward to returning.
The experience was beyond incredible. From the reservation to the phone call for food allergies to our captain David and Marco recommending a bottle of wine (that was less$ then the one i chose). Then the food!! One of the top 3 dinners in my life. Thats saying something living in northern NJ. WILL BE BACK
Amazing food and service. I can't wait to recommend this beautiful restaurant to friends and family.
My wife and I went here based on the reviews I saw online during our Valentine's vacation this year. I might be a harsh reviewer, but the quality of food just didn't justify the price. The atmosphere was nice, the service was fine, but ultimately my largest negative is that the food was decent at best and not worth the charges.
Total of what we had were two appetizers, two entrees, two alcoholic drinks, coffee for one, and a desert to split. The price wasn't crazy (about $190 including tip) - but the resulting food and drink just didn't match expectations.
We both had appetizers, and the same puff pastry was used on both, plated pretty much the exact same way. Kind of just felt cheap. Like we were getting leftovers. My wife's tomato appetizer was just overly sweet, while my small bit of lobster was overcooked. There was small dollop of some kind of carrot puree on my plate that tasted okay but felt a little out of place.
For our entrees, I had one of the specials (veal) and my wife a coffee-crusted duck dish. My veal was decently cooked and seasoned. The sauce accompanying it was all right, but a little simplistic. There was no side dish really, just a plate decoration of the same puree that was on my appetizer, some kind of potato puree, and a couple of vegetables. Not really a side dish - just an edible decoration. The exact same decoration was on the duck dish my wife had. It just didn't feel like there was any thought put into make it a cohesive dish. The same things were used over and over.
As for my wife's duck dish, the coffee crust just didn't work. It tasted like fresh, wet grounds. No other seasoning. And after about five minutes, the coffee crust turned the sauce into coffee. So all you could taste was coffee. It just didn't work.
Desert was the best part - profiteroles. Not complaints there. Otherwise, everything else was either just okay or not very good.
Early Valentines Day
This is our go-to place for a special occasion. It never disappoints.
Fantastic. Food and service was wonderful
Our favorite Newport restaurant. Our table this time was a bit close to the kitchen & would have preferred another but any time you want to enjoy creations from a wonderful chef & ambience book ahead!
Beautiful restaurant, excellent service (not stuffy), and a nice menu variety. It deserves the #1 restaurant in Newport rating.
Outstanding restaurant. We celebrated the anniversary of our first date and the staff treated us well. The desert even had a happy anniversary comment written on it on French. Wonderful selection of entree items. I never had duck before and it was great. We are so pleased with the experience that we already booked the anniversary of our first date for next year.
Wonderful experience to celebrate my birthday. Each course was prepared to perfection - squash soup and escargot to start; followed by a filet and twice stuffed lobster; and Bouchard’s signature soufflé and after dinner coffee drinks. Superb!
Great food, service, and ambiance. One of Newport's three "destination" restaurants, along with Castle Hill and the Chanler. The food, service, and setting are just as good, without having to pay for a five-course meal, as is the case at those also-excellent spots. We will be back on a regular basis.
The service Captain Max is a true professional. The food and presentation were exceptional. A must try restaurant in the area.
Always perfect for a date night, special occasion or something different. Everything is on point from there service, apps, dinner and superb dessert
Excellent appetizers and fantastic service! The Grand Marnier soufflé was delicious and worth the wait.
Nice table. Great service. Food was classic but very well executed and great value for the quality of the food. Every dish was delicious and well balanced in flavors. The cocktails were superb and the Grand Marnier souffle for dessert was exquisite. This was our first time. A gem and good value for the quality of the food compare dit many other restaurants.
Parking can be a problem but they provided a pass to a nearby lot. The food was wonderful. Nice selection and great specials. Exquist dinning!!
The food was outstanding, the menu and specials were terrific. Will definitely be one of the restaurant I will go to again when in the area.
Bouchards is Bouchards more than a Restrurant more than an adventure. An experience that rest gently in ones heart. Layers of lovely memories with your loved ones.
It is a delight to visit a restaurant where the food and service are unfailingly superb.
Wished we lived closer to Newport so we could dine there more often.
