Black Cat, opened in 2006 and founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, serves inspired farm to table cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own, full-scale 130 acre certified Organic farm. By day, Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.

Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar. The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.

Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits & local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.
The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

Our server was excellent!
We decided to have the 6 course chef's tasting menu, and it was wonderful! I am a vegetarian and everything was so fresh and they were exceptionally accommodating to my dietary choices. My husband is definitely NOT a vegetarian and I am pretty sure each course had a different protein featured.
Huge thank you to the whole staff at Black Cat for a lovely meal. I have already told one chef friend about it and I am sure if won't be the last.
Cheers!

Consistently excellent! The Black Cat never ceases to amaze with its delightfully creative and delicious food. Truly a beacon of farm to table, the Black Cat's menu is always changing, always inventive and never disappointing. Each dish on the tasting menu was a home run -- visually appealing, tantalizing aroma, creative blend of ingredients and a delight for the taste buds. Kudos to the kitchen and every member of the team. Outstanding!

Black Cat was recommended by a friend. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Server was excellent. Food was delicious and well prepared. Pasta entree was a bit salty. It's a bit pricey but we felt it was a special occasion and splurged.

Definitely a very unique experience. Staff is very detailed, food is creative and delicious, and the wine list is beyond impressive. Most importantly, the service is very personal, attentive, and happy. Fantastic little spot!

By far the best restaurant in Colorado from service to wine to food.

The Black Cat is a superlative farm-to-table restaurant. The ambience is cozy, intimate and quiet (one of the few Boulder restaurants where you can comfortably hold a conversation). While The Black Cat is not an inexpensive dining choice it does have enormous value for your dining dollar. The staff is well informed, extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. This is our "go to" special event place. We traditionally choose the Chef's Tasting Menu because we love the selections and the surprise element. We enjoy eating specialities that broaden our palette.

We went to the Black Cat for a sister's night out. I liked that they sat us in one of the back rooms. It was quiet and comfortable. The servers were all outstanding, and we ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairing, so had an abundance of service explaining each of the six dishes from our waiter, and the sommelier would explain the wines. Very fun, and all of the dishes (and wines) were delicious.

The service was impeccable as always. The food was slightly lackluster this time. We have dined here many times and overall the meal was our least favorite. We did the chefs tasting menu this evening with the high end wine pairing. The porchetta and lamb dishes both tasted like reheated precooked meat that was not appetizing. The food just wasn’t as spectacular as we are used to from the Black Cat.

Meal and service was fine. My main complaint is with the wine expert! He was very rude to me! I ordered a glass of wine and when he served it my wife and I both said that it was not a full 6 oz! When we called him back he asked " did I drink some"!!! He did agree that it was not 6 oz ! BUT it was VERY RUDE to ask what he said!!! This put a very bad feeling on the whole meal!!

Every course is superb. And most of the food is grown locally in Boulder county. Sommelier Logan loves wine and picks fun surprises for you. If you’re going to eat upscale in boulder, nothing comes close to Black Cat.

Creative and Unique, Black Cat had exceptional concepts and the Chef's choice offering was an experience my wife and I will talk about for a long time. The wine pairings were fun, hearing the stories of their origination made it very interesting. Certainly worth checking it out for a special occasion, but pretty pricey to consider coming regularly, but it's something we expected going into it.

Chef Eric Skokan and team were amazing on our first visit to Black Cat. We went with the 6-course chef’s tasting menu, accompanied by inventive wine pairings from the sommelier. Equal parts fun and delicious, it was a terrific meal in a sophisticated (but not stuffy) atmosphere, with terrific service throughout. The care and precision that this true farm-to-table establishment puts every detail was evident. Will definitely return on a future trip to Boulder.

This was a fabulous treat. The tasting menu with the premium wine pairings was well worth the cost with sommelier Logan handing out surprise wine pairings. If you are in Boulder and want a treat, this is a wonderful dining experience.

We would consider another trip to Boulder just to eat here again. We have raved about our meal to friends. We were easily convinced to try the tasting menu, since they could accommodate a fussy carnivore and vegetarian with food allergies. What a bargain. All courses were great, but the food was too abundant (we enjoyed our last savory courses & one dessert for lunch the following day- perfect).
Food and ambiance were fantastic, but the real winner was Logan, the sommelier. We have pivoted away from wine pairings lately as most are overpriced and uninformative ("this is some red wine from California"). The wine choices were remarkable -- unusual wines and all with descriptions of the grapes, wine-makers, locations. This young man is so gifted, and very fortunate to have found his calling.
Now the Black Cat is taunting me with e-mails telling me that if only I lived in Colorado, I could be enjoying whatever is fresh this week. Sigh.
