Contemporary American
Black Cat, opened in 2006 and founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, serves inspired farm to table cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own, full-scale 130 acre certified Organic farm. By day, Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.

Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar. The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.

Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits & local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.
The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

The Black Cat is at the top of the favorite list. This last visit was a treat and not sure how they did it, but it was a step above the last visit. Book a reservation so you can experience their superb food and service for yourself.

One of the best meals my wife and I have had in a long time. The Chef/Owner actually came out with the entrée to explain the presentation. Exceptional!

We had an absolutely delicious meal and drinks. The menu was creative and it was hard to choose between the options, but everything we had was delicious, from the special whiskey drink, the gratuitous mini appetizers and cookies to our soup, salad, and entrees. The winter salad and beet crepes were especial highlights. The wait staff was attentive but unobtrusive and we enjoyed two short conversations with owner Eric Skokan.

My husband and I came here for our 5 year anniversary. We ordered two of the chefs choices and I ordered a wine pairing with the 7 course meal. The food was sub par, at best. I felt like they were trying to hard to create something “fancy” instead of focusing on flavors. Also there was one of the 7 courses I couldn’t bring myself to eat, and the wait staff and the chef all came over one by one asking why I didn’t like it. It was humiliating. And then after my 5th wine pairing the waitress came over and told my husband “she doesn’t have to drink all the wine” very condescending! Why have a 7 course wine pairing if I’m not supposed to drink the wine that is paired with my meal?! After paying a whopping $300 for our meal, we left dissatisfied and disappointed and went to grab something to eat somewhere else.

First time at black cat, everyone was extremely friendly and pleasant. The restaurant was a fun place to be and the food was absolutely amazing. We did not get the chefs tasting menu this time, but will definitely be coming back to try it.

Had a fixed price menu for Valentines Day, with only one choice. When my wife asked if there was anything else she
Could eat, she was given another fixed price menu without meat. Nothing at the Black Cat was outstanding. Everything was acceptable except for the price. Way overpriced for the delivered product.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Black Cat. We chose the Chef’s Tasting Menu with the Classic wine pairings. The food and wines were outstanding. Impeccable service by the waitstaff and sommelier. Wonderful ambience with a cozy booth and soft music. Very expensive but worth it.

We called ahead and told them it was our Valentine's day dinner and they were especially accommodating. They sat us in a gorgeous section of the restaurant, gave us an extra "bonus" dish with our Chef's Tasting Menu and when dessert came out, they drizzled chocolate hearts all over the plate. The food was the best I've ever had. I can't wait to go back.

This is the one of the best meals I've ever had! We did the vegan tasting menu and it doesn't get any better; very inventive and delicious. The wine pairing made a special meal even more amazing. The sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable and the owner/chef came to our table to make sure we were completely happy with his creations. They adjust to any dietary requirements which is important for many people. This is an exceptional, top-notch dining experience for a special treat. I will be back with my whole family in May.

Yet another anniversary celebration at the Black Cat, and continues to be as extraordinarily outstanding as our past celebrations. The food is exquisite, the service spot on - not intrusive yet perfectly attentive. Get the chefs menu option - Erc is a masterful chef, and the wine pairings are perfect. Always a treat. Can you tell we really enjoy going there?

Overall the evening was good, but given the price some of the food was subpar. We shared a salad that included farro... the farro was either undercooked or way over cooked as it was so hard as to be inedible. Additionally the potatoes accompanying my entre were way over roasted. However the amuse bouche, pasta appetizer, duck and sea bass entres were very good.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at The Black Cat while in Boulder for the evening. The Chef's tasting menu was scrumptious and the wine pairings superb! The restaurant is quite cozy and was perfect for a couple's night out. There was even a large party seated in the restaurant and it was still cozy!

Great farm-to-table restaurant. Eric, one of the owners, and a farmer and chef, which is unusual in my experience) stopped by our table and spent time with us explaining how his restaurant works and how he farms fresh produce in January in Colorado! I had the tasting menu with premium wine selection. Apart from one or two somewhat over salted, but still delicious, courses, food and wine selection/pairing were outstanding. Best leg of lamb I've ever had, in a restaurant or at home.

This restaurant is a real gem! The ambience, food drinks, and service is outstanding. It never disappoints. The best seat in the house is the very cozy booth towards the back of the restaurant which is perfect for 4-6 people.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a wonderful experience, especially for a special occasion.

Food is delicious but somewhat limited menu. I guess you could expect that when all items come from the one (chef owned) farm. We loved our server, Sara, who incidentally shared my birth day! Thank you for making this a memorable experience.

I can't say enough about Black Cat. The service and food were the best that we have had and we have been to a lot of top restaurants in the Denver area. The service was exceptional, friendly staff and knowledgeable. The Chef's were unbelievable. We had a party of 4 and two of us are on the keto diet and they were HAPPY to accommodate us. We had 6 great courses and a 7th thrown in by the chef as we were first time customers. They also have a sommelier that really new his stuff and we were able to ask a ton of questions and he had the answers. We will be back. This is really the best food and service we have had, and we have traveled overseas and all over the US. So glad this restaurant is in "our backyard". Farm fresh and locally sourced which is important to us. Thank you Black Cat for a wonderful evening. (If your not married, this is a GREAT PLACE to propose!!!
