By far one of the best spots in Denver. Thursday night tasting menu special is a hidden gem- would give more stars if I could!
Our meal was exceptional, as always
Haven’t been in quite a while. While we both found our dinners enjoyable, we didn’t find them extraordinary, as we had experienced in the past. So for us, the value wasn’t worth the price. It was a good dinner, just not a fabulous dinner.
Some of the best food I've have in Denver in a while. The dishes were "creative" but not to the point where the blend of textures and flavors was weird. Very high quality ingredients and all around delicious.
Real miss on a usually solid and reliable favorite. They were out of almost half the menu by 7 pm on Saturday evening on an otherwise slow night... We had specifically chosen Bittersweet due to the lack of Resturant Week participation/madness and left feeling like they should have just closed for the weekend.
service is always a little hit or miss here but in this case it was off putting- especially to people who I had recommended this place to...
We had a mixed experience at Bittersweet. Our waiter was great! I am a vegetarian, and have some allergies, so he and the chef (thanks chef) were able to put together a lovely vegetarian selection. However, had I not asked, it was not offered on the menu. My dinner companions were meat eaters; but would have enjoyed a salad or more vegetables. Our waiter explained that because the restaurant is closed two days a week, greens were spoiling and they couldn’t afford to waste food like that. I totally understand not wasting food, but I think that Bittersweet needs to revisit this. People now want lots of veggies with their meals. Any one of the 3 course vegetarian meal I had would be a stand out on the starter menu.
I will not be back until the menu expands, as I do not have a lot of choice with regards to vegetables or a vegetarian entree choice.
I’m a bit stumped by the great reviews of this restaurant. It is pricey and the portions are beyond small. You pay $32 for steak that is literally 4 bites and the same price for a chicken leg and part of a breast that was dry. The salmon was a half portion. We did complain about the steak and they came back with a slightly larger portion and it cooked to medium instead of well done. The staff was nice.
Really nice ambiance. Beautiful presentation but the food was so-so. Lacked any distinct flavor. Flat.
Bittersweet in a word, AWESOME! You can tell from the first bite that the food is prepared with the utmost care. Care to taste, quality and value.
This place never disappoints.
The atmosphere was exactly what we needed after a few chaotic days. Intimate yet not stuffy. Felt like being in someones home. The menu is small but very well rounded with choices. I had the steak which was perfect and so tender. The shrimp and grits were also a hit with our group as there was just enough spice to give the dish a bit of heat. We shared 3 desserts and especially enjoyed the toffee like flan. The Hamburger and Fries dessert was a great presentation but not sure we would order again. I would absolutely recommend Bittersweet and can't wait to return on my next visit to town.
My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day. The food was generally really good, but everything you’ve probably already read online about their small portion sizes is so, so true. For instance, they served us a scallop dish that actually only had one scallop on it. We paid about $285 total, and I just can’t say it was worth it, considering how many other great dining options there. Are in the city for less than that. Would not go back or recommend to friends.
Excellent pre fixe menu. Everything was delicious. Chicken dish was best I’ve ever had. Scallop was like butter. Bisque was cheesy bliss. Thank you.
This is a small intimate spot with only a few tables. You can have a nice small table for a romantic dinner. That said when all the tables were full it felt a bit cramped and the noise level increased. Still it was never annoying and we were able to converse through out the evening. It did make for some good people watching.
We were there for Valentine's day and they were limited to a tasting menu. Of the eight dishes we tried we both loved 6, divided on one and sadly agreed that the smoked Burratta was nearly inedible because of the level of smoke. The main dishes of pork belly and chicken were delicious and beautifully plated and the desserts (flour less chocolate cake and Key lime pie) were just wonderful. The portions were not large, but 4 courses was more than enough food and the price was very reasonable.
The wine list by the glass is small and there are only beers by the bottle, but the choices are well thought out. The two house cocktails I tried were both well balanced and easy to drink. The waiter was clearly busy but still took the time to bring wine samples and to recommend cocktails. The service was unobtrusive and fast. We will definitely consider trying it on a non holiday.
One note, the parking lot is tiny and street parking is a challenge. Ride shares are your friend.
The people were amazing waiter to bartender and chef to waitress didn’t have a problem with any of it. I’d recommend this to anyone. Thank you
We love BitterSweet. It's a favorite and a must for all special occasions, like Valentines' Day, Anniversary...or an average Thursday - who cares. Just go.
We have never had anything but a superb meal but this experience really topped it all. Fabulous, impeccable service, amazing & creative food, lovely atmosphere.
Creative menu, well executed. Friendly, professional service. An excellent meal and evening.
Outstanding neighborhood favorite!
A wonderful meal and such a playful and delicious menu and wine pairing
Food is consistently the best in Denver.
Great food and service. Great ambience. A little disappointed with the small portions of food that were served.
Wonderful food, small portions, service was fairly good, a bit leas attentive than could have been. We will definitely return
Appetizers were much better than main courses, even though those were touted as exceptional when they were not. Main courses were barely warm and minimalistic in size.
Food was SO good. Delicious. Portions are fairly small. Service was great. Really cozy space-small and sort of rustic. Menu has a french bent to it, which I’m a huge fan of. Foie gras was so good. Short rib also amazing. Salmon great. Lamb meatballs and veggie garden app interesting and yummy. Loved the food. Final bill was high but we had lots of wine. Will go back!
Might be the best meal I have had since moving to Denver from LA 11 years ago.
Lovely interior, simple but well executed food.
Amazing tasting menu. The service is also excellent. Attention to detail on food and drinks. It is my new favorite place in Denver!
Great food. Kind of noisy, but it was New Year’s Eve
Wonderful! We just absolutely love this intimate spot.
Several of my quests are vegan and your menu fell short. Otherwise, everyone commented on the freshness and taste of the food. Also, wine selection was superior. We also ate at Bon Ami and between the two, we liked Bon Ami best. That said, you have a fine establishment.

We had a very quiet dinner for three people at Bittersweet. The menu is somewhat refined and American in cuisine schema. There are some unique cocktails offered. We each had a cocktail, we had a bottle of Cote de Rhone and entrees. The value is fairly good. I had roasted chicken and it was delicious. The other two in the party were happy with their entrees as well. For dessert - classic creme brule and sorbet trio. The ambience is cute, sparse, but with some good art pieces.
Birthday Dinner
Our experience at Bittersweet was exceptional. The food was creative and flavorful. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Service was top.
The front dining room was a bit cold though, which interfered with our comfort.
One word of advice to future diners: plan to spend a LOT. Our meal for two people was $280. The portions are very small, so you must order a starter, entre, and dessert. My husband's rib was substantial enough for him. But my scallops dish had 3 scallops. Very good but not filling.
If you know about the portions and are willing to pay, this is a good restaurant.
Another sour note that I just noticed: When I booked this restaurant, we had never been there, and it was a 1,000 point reservation. BUT I only received 100 points for it. :-(
We brought a big group. Food was great. Service too. They ran out of one entree but I take that as a good sign. We will be back.
Great service and unique wine selections
Excellent food and service.
Love this small restaurant.
Always love going to this quaint and quiet restaurant with outstanding food and service.
Absolutely amazing!!! Food was so delightful and staff was wonderful.
Excellent food and amiable and efficient service. Bartender is very knowledgeable and imaginative as well. In good weather, there are two nice patios for outdoor eating. Highly recommended.
