Friday & Saturday: 5:00PM - 10:00PM
Sunday 4:00PM - 9:00PM
Was early, and waited for friend, but bread brought before she arrived, ended up cold. Service got hectic as time progressed and noise got worse. Food excellent. We stayed long after finished to gab and were not rushed out like some place do. Appreciated that... Sat next to a stairway and table on another level. There was a divider, but still awkward, seeing legs and skirts go up stairs.. but..................... will go again, tho... yum....
I LOVE Bastien’s!! It is a go to when visitors to Denver come to town & it never disappoints!
Loved the grilled Caesar salad and the stuffed mushrooms. The Sugar Steak (their signature steak) was subpar. I wish I had gotten a filet instead. Also, the sizzling apple pie was not well executed. The ice cream that it was served with was melted by the time we received it. They also pour melted butter on the pie before serving which then dominates the taste. The servers were very nice but incredibly slow. We sat at the table for almost 15-20 minutes before a server came by to take drink orders. I would not go back.
We continue to enjoy our experiences here. Their appetizers, salads, steaks and desserts are awesome.
Took a couple with us this time , who had never been there and they were impressed.
Wife loved her 4X4 and I loved my bone in ribeye with blackberry habenero sauce. Also a fan of their grilled romaine Caesar salad
Rude waitress. Took almost 2 hours to get food. I guess they had a large party that they didn’t plan for
Had the special tonight. It was so good and calinini ( cross between cauliflower and brocilini was new and tasted great. Great service and can’t wait to go back to try our favorites, steak David and Black and Tan.
Great dining experience, never disappointing - best steak meal in Denver
The food was outstanding but the service was not the best. Waitress didn’t make us feel very welcome. No smile. Follow up not good. Asked for water refills and that took a while. Ran out of water again and I ended up getting our own pitcher. After getting served she didn’t come back to see if our food was cooked properly.
After asking for water the first time mumbled about she had 3 tables to worry about. Not my issue!
Soup..eehh. Appetizer good. Steak great. Twice baked potatoe is a must with it.
Great sever, full of great recommendations... great experience!
As good a steak as anywhere in the city. Neighborhood feel.
This restaurant has been around for a while. It seemed to us that they have put in a new Chef and the chef is really good. The food flavors were wonderful. This is not a place to go if you are in a hurry or need to be done within a certain time frame. You may be able to ask the server to expedite your meal, but if that is the case then go somewhere else. The dress is casual so you also don't have to get all dressed up to go out. The seating is very cozy so you also won't look out of place if you feel like dressing up. Don't let the outside fool you, it is very cute inside. There is also a bar if you want to meet up early and have a drink before dinner. Go online to check out the menu I won't waste space placing it here. We had a wonderful steak and assorted appetizers, but appetizers are our thing. Go relax and enjoy.
The food was delicious! We will definitely come back again and again!!
Great food and service. Great atmosphere for family and or date night
Bastiens is a relaxed venue, but serves excellent entrees which come with salad or soup and a range of potato sides. Bastiens knows how to cook steak and I am always delighted w my meal, as our my guests. I look forward to my next visit.
The food was unbelievably good and the service was top notch. I highly recommend it for special occasions. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Went here for our anniversary. I did not have my normal, Steak David, but tried the Black and Tan this time. I now have a new favorite to go with the Wilted Ceasar Salad - wish I had room for the Toasted Coconut Banana Cream Pie - but was just too full. Note to self - eat half of the steak to save room for dessert. :)
This restaurant has been a family owned establishment for many years in Denver before the Steak houses came to Denver. They have been serving outstanding Beef Steaks, Prime Rib, for a good number of years. I continue to love the atmosphere and it is a great place for a date or a business dinner. One of the Best Steaks in Denver and the service is fantastic.
No service at the bar and when we were greeted it was by a waitress who sat us down at a table. Minor inconvenience but good overall
The food was Good as usual. Many options to choose from. The wait staff could have been somewhat more friendly and attentive
It is unfortunate that I'm writing this review. This has always been one of our favorite places to eat. In fact, I proposed to my wife here about 8 years ago. We visited for Valentines Day (a few days after on a Saturday). When we showed we had to wait 20 minutes even though we had reservations. Once we sat we ordered a bottle of wine. Ended up being a cheap headache rather than a decent wine. Found the same bottle we paid $35 for at a store for under $10. We had what was supposed to be French onion soup. After 2 bites we were both done. My wife ordered her go-to Filet. It was the first time I'd ever seen a cut of meat so over cooked on the outer part and under cooked in the middle. And not one drop of juice from the steak, was on my wife's plate. It was terrible! I ordered a NY Strip which was about the same.
We've been to a lot of very good Steak Houses and this used to be one. Now we say goodbye as we will never eat here again. To top it all off, the service was mediocre at best. The waitress asked us if we wanted a box when she saw only half of our food was eaten. We sternly said NO. She didn't even bother to ask us how it was (I think she was very aware).
I will no longer recommend that anyone waste their time unless your food standards are at the McDonalds level!
Got a party of seven reservations on a short notice and the table was ready when we arrived. The food and service was great and everyone had a great time.
Was really hoping/expecting to enjoy Bastien’s given its longevity in the neighborhood and how difficult it is to get a table. Perhaps this was an off night. On the positive we enjoyed the ambience and the service was very good. However there were a number of issues, each on their own would have been no big deal, but taken together made for a disappointing experience. First I ordered a red wine by the glass to be told after order was placed that they were out of stock. Ordered a different wine to be told again that they were out of stock of that one as well due to the California wildfires (I ordered a French wine so that explanation was specious). The mussels appetizer was not tasty. Finally, my steak came out luke warm. At that juncture I didn’t have the patience to send it back as I had given up on salvaging the meal.
I love the ambience & food at Bastien's. Definitely a Denver gem of a steakhouse!!
The food is always very tasty, but a bit expensive and as it was our anniversary we didn't mind it.
We've been here before and loved the food. This time the service was horrendous. Our server didn't seem to care about our table but rather her other tables instead. It was our anniversary and I wish the service was better to set the tone for the rest of our evening. Order came out wrong but server never came back to check on us for the order to be corrected. Once we were done eating, we waited for the server to ask about dessert but it took 30 minutes to get her attention so instead we called it a night. However, once we declined dessert she forgot about us all together and we waited another 20 minutes before making eye contact and asked her to bring our check. Highly disappointed.
Great first time experience. I would have loved to hear more about the history /back story. Food was amazing waitress was perfect with timing each entree. I left full but not in pain full. Can't wait to go back.
Bastiens is a gem of a restaurant with 4 star quality food in a casual relaxed setting that feels like home.
Everything was delicious...from the starter salad to sugar steak and yummy creme brulee. All yummy!
Always a treat to walk into a retro restaurant. The food is not retro. The food is outstanding and the prices are more than reasonable. Do it!!
LOVE Bastien's!! Found them on GroupOn about 2 years ago and we consistently go back for special occasions, end of week relaxation and casual night out with GREAT food and drink!
The waitress wasn't very engaging and it took forever to get the bill but the food compensated.
Classic steakhouse. Every bite was delicious, portions were generous, ambiance was retro with feeling overly dated. Exceeded my expectations. Definitely will go back for special occasions or date night
Food and atmosphere was great, I will return and it was very relaxing to listen to Frank Sinatra, the service could have been a lot better if the waitress was not rushing us to order. She was very rude and kept coming back to see if we were ready to order. We had an early reservstion just so we could take our time, and there was no need for the rush because there were very few people in the restaurant.
We were late getting there due to traffic from the Parade of Lights but manager was very gracious and found a way to squeeze us in.
Great food - tried some new dishes this time and they were just as good as our normal dished we get - the Steak David/Black and Tan and the bacon wrapped filet.
I had the Tournedos, very yummy...when (not if) I return some day, I am ordering this again. Hubby tried the Sugar Stake, touted as a favorite..while he really liked it, he states that he'll be ordering the Tournedos, next visit.
Enjoyed very much and the food was spectacular!
Enjoyed my dinner with my father however the hostess at the front didn’t want to give us a booth because it wasn’t that servers time to be sat a table. Then when we asked for a liquor to be put in the coffee afterwards we had to pull out of the server what kinds they had. She wasn’t knowledgable or helpful.
