Bar Dough
What Insiders Are Saying
One of Denver's most-hyped openings of 2016 actually lives up to the hype. Pizza and pasta for days.
What an amazing birthday we had here! Thank you so much to Chris and to Kelsie (?) for making it special. Service was outstanding, and it was great to be personally greeted and seated by the manager. The team at Bar Dough took such good care of us, from ordering a pizza right away for our 10 year-old guest to suggesting yummy after dinner drinks. Thank you for a memorable evening, and we shall rerun soon!
I was here a couple years ago and loved it. I had a friend in from out of town and wanted to take her somewhere special. It started badly. We had a reservation, there were open tables in the middle of the room, yet we were seated in an isolated, dark corner in the front next to a space heater. The food was good, but not worth the price. In particular, how can you charge $18 or $19 for one piece of ciabatta with some yummy but not particularly expensive items on top? Service was spotty at this price point. The recommended wine was thin.
Bar Dough elevates pub food to a really delicious place. We watched Chef Carie on Top Chef and live out of town. We came to eat her food, and we were not disappointed. We split an appetizer and a salad, an entree and a pizza between two people and had plenty of food. The dishes that were "Chef Carie's favorites" were marked on the menu, and we got two of those and two others.
Overall, the food was good to great, and I would recommend it to other friends. It's a place I would want to eat at a few times a year, but not all the time.
Food was mediocre - for the price, there are plenty of restaurants with better food.
We had fancy toast antipasto, farfalle pasta (braised colorado goat, purple cherokee tomato, goat gouda) and risotto (fungo (hen of the woods, chanterelle, lobster, trumpet) grana padano, parsley). All very delicious. Simple wine selection adequately suited for menu selection pairing. Lively atmosphere and friendly service.
Neighborhood hot spot. Decent food but VERY expensive for pasta. $35 bolonese? Over priced wine list. Service was decent. Experience was ok, but not sure what all the hype is about.
It was very nice, Leen provided great and friendly service
Sadly no. Was super excited to be at carrie’s restaurant, but the food was not tasty. Maybe was missing all of the spices?
Service was great though.
We love Bar Dough but the noise level is more than "Energetic", it's deafening. There's a difference between having a lively restaurant and being so loud you can't even hear what your date is saying so you have to yell and then your neighbors have to yell.......it's a bit exhausting. Food and service is always great!
Bar Dough was outstanding, including service and the menu. Although the tables are close together, it still felt private somehow.
Arrived during happy hour. Seated right away. Table was tiny and could not accommodate our dishes and drinks. Had to pile up the dishes on the pizza. House red wine was good. The meat balls were good. Pizza was average and not hot when we got it. I liked the lil gems green salad. Will return to try the pasta but won’t order pizza again.
Bar Dough lived up to everything I imagined it would. The food was amazing. The drinks were great. The service/server was wonderful. The one thing that drove me a little nuts was the bumping rap music. I'm sure it makes me seem old, but it was too loud and out of place. It made the nice dinner feel like I was in LoDos with the bros. Still, even with that, I would recommend to any and all and would/will go back.
In town for a work trip, and braved the snowy side streets to try Chef Carrie’s fancy toast. It did not disappoint; the combination of flavors and textures was excellent. My server recommended a great wine pairing. And the crostata for dessert was delicious, too.
Wow! This place is WAYYYY overpriced. Our bill was about 540.00 before tip and 4 of us had pizza ( out of 8). The service was ok but our server was in a dirty white t shirt and somewhat abrupt. If I am paying that kind of money for a meal maybe the server should at least dress decent ! We were celebrating 2 birthdays and some places give you a free dessert but not here.
I will say the food tasted good- pizzas are big . We will not be back . My friends warned me before I went it is not worth the money you pay. I should have listened .
Fancy Toast delivered by the "Top Chef" herself! We ordered all sorts of dishes and everything was excellent. Highlights were the fancy toast, squid ink pasta and leek pizza.
Great place for date night, but I just wish the tables were a little further apart, I felt like we should have been on a double date with the couple next to us since we could hear everything they talked about
The food was good. Prices were reasonable, especially since we were there during happy hour, but even the non-happy hour prices were reasonable. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. Told us about the specials and the prices without us having to ask. Very enjoyable meal and we will go back.
Absolutely outstanding flavor profiles and ingredient quality. We started off with a bang with the 7x Ranch carne crudo with its lusciously meaty flavor and hot homemade pretzel bun . We ordered the highly recommended wood-oven roasted carrots and with its crunch of toasted pine nuts and farro and chickpeas in creamy carrot cumin vinaigrette and loved it. The mafaldine with lamb bolognese and saltimbocca pork chop were each flavored and cooked to perfection and are on our list to order again. The only disappointment was the dessert zeppole which, though nicely flavored, were heavy and too large. Overall, a terrific dinner--Bar Dough is top of the list for us.
If it weren't for the extremely high noise level, this would be a restaurant I'd frequent more often than I do. As it is, I try to go during the warmer months, so I and my friends can sit outside when we can actually hear one another speak. For the food, it is outstanding. Last Thursday, I had the mixed greens salad with arugula and my friend had one of the other well-made and presented salads. I had the half portion of the Veal Bolognese and he had the whole chicken. I had a glass of Barolo. Not surprisingly, the restaurant was packed, making conversation a challenge. So it depends on your objectives: food, conversation, lively in-place, etc. I guess 2 out of 3 ain't bad!
I was really impressed with Bar Dough, especially the service (maxwell was our server). It’s packed in pretty tight there but wasn’t a negative for myself and my date. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Meal of a lifetime. We shared a pizza to start and each ordered pastas for the main courses. Every bite was delicious and something I’d never had before.
The food was excellent. Try the carrot salad. The service was attentive. The noise level was oppressive. The tables are so close I thought I was in a Paris bistro.
The fancy toast was good but a bit pricey for what the serving size. The pasta was also delicious and the pizza was alright. We were seated next to the big window which thought quieter than the rest of the restaurant, the seat was very cold, even with the space heater nearby. I had to keep my down jacket on for most of the meal. The server was also not very attentive or hospitable.
We really enjoyed Bar Dough, the food was amazing and our server couldn't have been more helpful. Had a great atmosphere as well.
Attentive service. Offers brie yoy ask. Delicious food. Carrot salad fabulous. Squid ink pasta excellent. Pizza crust best ever! We'd come every night.
Love Bar Dough. They bar is fun and bartenders great!
Awesome ambiance and wonderful service. I asked ahead of time to bring a surprise dessert out for a friend and not only did they accommodate, but they didn't charge us for it! I love that they had a Paleo/Whole30 menu for this month, but I was a little disappointed that the portions were tiny (and pricy...$17 for a very small "meat-za". However it tasted great! I love Bar Dough and am excited to return after Whole30 is over.
Bar Dough was good, although we came for the Special January Paleo Menu. I think I’d love to come back for their pastas and pizzas as the Paleo Menu was just ok. The rest smelled and looked amazing!!! Otherwise experience was great, except server did the cardinal mistake of taking my drink before I was done with it! I’d always ask a patron before swiping their glass!
Food was SF Bay area priced. $19 for a piece of toast (very nice), but split amongst four...
Server was enthusiastic, it was noisy and a little hard to hear.
I made a reservation - but only bar tops available though we saw plenty of rotation in tabletops.
I ordered a pork chop (daily special menu spelled incorrectly). It was nice - sliced and bone turned up on its side. When I got to bone it was still raw. Obviously a slice had been removed or I'd have had under done meat. I pointed this out to the server (she wasn't very impressed "I'll tell the chef").
Others food was good - lamb and pasta, octopus and pasta, parsnip pasta.
This wasn't worth the $400 tab (two bottles of wine and two glasses of wine).
Great food! Fancy toast was amazing and the Lil Gems salad was fabulous as well. Lam bolognese was good and was surprised we weren't offered any parmesan cheese to go on top and had to ask for it. But not a big deal. Felt like the server was rushing us a bit to order from the very beginning. We had to ask him to please not put our order in for dinner until we had finished our salad. Wanted to enjoy the dinner without feeling rushed and he was a bit annoying in that respect.
Friendly service and very good food.
Great food, Lee our waitperson was terrific. Had an item off the paleo menu, then tried a super pasta followed by the saltimbocca pork chop. Awesome!!
Our food could of been a bit hotter when it came out . It was only warm . Other wise all was good !
Great waiter and wonderful menu.
Went to Sunday brunch here with a friend. The donuts and fancy toasts were soooo delicious, as was their coffee and cocktails/mocktails. Service was good but not outstanding as the restaurant was very busy. It's a very noisy space so the only complaint I have was that it was hard to hear my friend across our table.
One of the most underrated brunches in town...
Good not great. I came in with extremely high expectations given reviews. We ordered a couple of the chef favorites, which may have been our mistake - we probably should have just ordered what looked best to us! The meatballs were very tasty. I was most excited to try the spicy clam pizza, which I found a little cheese-heavy. Pastas at our neighboring tables looked amazing so I had a little bit of order envy - we will know what to try next time (and we will definitely go back!). Service was knowledgeable and unhurried, even on a busy night, which we appreciated.
とても、感じの良いサービスで、全てのお料理も美味しく、お気に入りのレストランの一つになりました。
Had an early reservation and were celebrating a birthday. Upon our arrival, we were shown to the farthest seating right next to the bathroom. There was tons of seating open. I asked to sit at a different table. They were cranky about it but did seat us in a better spot. It’s unfortunate that the only seating they really have is a long banquette along the wall. The tables are so close together that you are on top of your dining neighbor. On the plus side, our server was great. The food was ok. I doubt we will go bsck. Just not a comfortable experience.
Fun girls night! Found this place from Top Chef and from the Denver Dine Out Passbook. It's super fun; I thought my 5:15pm reservation would mean they wouldn't be busy and parking would be easier...I was wrong. LoHi is just always busy apparently. The food was awesome. Come for Happy Hour, good values. Our table was a little squished in front so it's not tons of fun to have to scoot chair in when other guests were needing access to their tables. Most of the tables didn't have this problem and isn't the worst thing ever. I tried my first Aperol Spritz and wasn't disappointed. The meatballz are super yummy. Pasta is good always. My friend had the pizza and was in love. The calabrian chili oil really adds some amazing flavors...without being too spicy. Overall the experience was pretty nice. I enjoyed my girls night out.
