About
The Avenue is a favored lunch and dinner destination among the uptown Denver business crowd, as well as a popular neighborhood bar and grill. What attracts them is the unpretentious, superior service, comfortable ambiance and delicious food. The menu is reminiscent of a San Francisco-style bar and grill with Asian and Italian influences. The Avenue Grill offers our diners free parking in the heart of downtown Denver!
Loved our waiter. Food was very good. A bit noisey
Avenue Grill is just a comfortable restaurant with excellent service and food.
A welcoming and comfortable retreat from the world. Modern menu with a classic style and friendly, attentive service. I had the sea bass this week, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. A great bonus is a free parking lot across the street, rare for Uptown.
Restaurant week
Seared Tuna was not seared. What was listed on the menu (vegetable sides) is not what was served with the meal.
Oldest restaurant in 17th. Old school charm. Nothing fancy, food is good, staff is good. Just love having a few restaurants that were here 30 years ago still alive and kickin.
The service was Ok, they got our orders backwards I think on the "how do you like it cooked". My med. rare prime rib was brown and over done, my husbands med. well salmon was med. rare.
Let the server know, he agreed the prime rib should be pinker. - didn't do anything about it.
The carpets and floor finishes in the place are so worn out they look dirty, was not very appetizing place to sit.
I have been coming to the Avenue Grille for many years, but I am sad to say this night was the worst I have experienced since coming here. I had ordered soup as an appetizer but I received it a few minutes before my meal. My date had ordered his meal without any butter on the vegetables because of an allergy he has but when he got the meal the vegetables were covered in melted butter. Our waiter was not very attentive to our needs and didn't seem to care. It has been awhile since I have been there and well it will probably be a long while before I return. I am not sure what is going on with the restaurant but I sure hope they can pull back together into the restaurant I remembered.
You can find better food and service elsewhere. Service was poor and disappointing when you’re paying $30+ for an entree. Drinking wine from a semi clean glass is not what I had in mind. If my server was more attentive then I probably could have requested a new glass but alcohol is alcohol.
The food is supposedly locally sourced but I can’t understand why 4 cocktail shrimps would be $14 since we’re a land lock state. Cost to ship shrimp in must be expensive these days. After our salads we waited a bit in between our entree so I expected it to be exceptional. However after waiting so long and going with the server suggestion of getting my bison Ribeye medium rare instead of medium temperature like I wanted, my ribeye was rare. What did I wait the additional 15 minutes for?
Our server never came back to check on us after the first few bites so I had a rare bison staring at me. I ate the outer portion of the ribeye, that was medium like I wanted. My wife’s salmon was okay a little dry but not horrible.
After being finished for a bit, our server came back to see how everything was and we replied okay. He proceeded to ask if we needed boxes. When we returned he acknowledged that my ribeye was under cooked and I said I would have told him but he never came back. So he gave us $20 off which was nice but we had already decided that we weren’t coming back because it was a below average establishment. We saw the server who refilled waters more than our server or manager.
You can try it but you may be disappointed. You’ll definitely won’t be blown away from what they have to offer if you are looking for some thing special.
Nice atmosphere. Good service. Nice cocktails. Delicious entrees! Would go back again for sure
Excellent dinner before the Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real concert at the nearby Ogden Theater and guess who was also dining there at a nearby table? That's right Lukas Nelson and his band!!! Great experience!
We really enjoyed our evening at Avenue Grill! The food and ambience were amazing!
We enjoy the restaurant. The food was wonderful. We definitely will be going back.
Worst service ever and the food wasn’t even that great.
The Avenue Grill is always a wonderful experience. I have.enjoyed every experience I’ve ever had there over the last 28 years. Just wonderful.
A Fun Valentines day at one of our Denver favorite places. Both our Fish dishes were excellent, Service was great, staff friendly and energetic.
This is the first time to this restaurant. Everything was awesome.
As always, Avenue Grill provided a great place for a special celebration... In this case it was a combined birthday/Valentines Day dinner after a long day of activity. It did not disappoint. The prime rib was excellent, and, since I'm not much of a beef eater, that's saying something. The free dessert for the birthday was much appreciated. We left stuffed, and satisfied, and happy with another pleasant experience. There's a reason why this place has lasted 30 years in a town where food joints come and go with amazing frequency.
It was a snowy day so there was only one other table in the restaurant for Saturday brunch. We had a great time delicious food. Great bloody mary bar
Best cocktails!!!
Sea bass was well on the way to being spoiled. It was served with a thick sugary sauce. Candied fish was not good
We have dined here several times the food continues to be excellent. The wine list is also great.
The wife and I arrived early on a Friday. The place was almost empty at 5:00. We were seated at a nice window table. The service was on point. Quick but not pushy in the least. Happy hour wine was surprising good (a Ruffino PG). We had a nice calamari app with shrimp cobb salads for dinner. Food was well prepared and tasted excellent. My only comment is the cobb salad was presented as a mixed salad with the components mixed and dressed rather than a tradition cobb with chopped and segregated components. Small point. The place was filling up as we left 6ish. We enjoyed our meal and will continue to explore the menu in the near future. Compliments to all.
Been going there infrequently for 30 years. Is always good and always the same. Can count on that!
The prime rib as always, excellent! And my friends bison stroganoff looked delicious! We did a lot of waiting for our waiter. He was very nice when he came.
As always for the Avenue Grill, excellent food, service, location, and ambience.
A terrific value for all those desirable features.
We had a dinner for 6 and everyone was delighted. From Prime Rib to the BEST Lamb Shanks ever. Wonderful value in the "Happy Hour" and a real treat B R COHN Zinfandel. Delicious calamari. A total success for young and old. A Favorite.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere!
Really great building and decor, with a classic bar. We were there for brunch and the Huevos Rancheros was excellent. We live 45 minutes away which is the only reason we wouldn’t be eating here at least once a week. (Note: I use “outstanding” very conservatively! ;-) We really enjoyed the food, the service and the space itself.)
Great service, as always. Good, solid menu, well-cooked. Love that you can have a conversation because lunch is not noisy!
It’s was NYE, and I believe they were just not expecting the high level of traffic. Kitchen was behind over 1 1/2 hours, servers didn’t make it to the tables for the first time until almost 1 hour into being seated. I had reservations for 8:45pm, didn’t get served until 10:50pm. Apologies from the host only, and no discount or free drink or offer of free desert for the problems and extreme wait.
Overall this place is still a favorite of mine, just will not be going during any holiday or special occasion.
Excellent place!
Reservation was at 8 and was there on time, didn’t get seated until 9. Kept promising they were only delayed 20 minutes and we weren’t alone. Poor experience. Then was promised they would make it up to us on the bill never happened. Food was average.
Made an 8 pm reservation, waited 1 1/2 hrs to be seated. Waited a half hour for a waiter to come to the table. I understand there was a computer glitch were reservation system malfunction, and they took too many reservation causing a massive table shortage... but really...?
Our reservation wasn’t ready until an hour after the scheduled time. We were provided any recompense for our inconvenience. Our server was rude and absent. The food was coursed our at seemingly random intervals.
One of my most favorite places in town! We always go here for special occasions and have never been disappointed! Not that our server wasn't good but she was very busy and not as attentive as usual but still a great dinner.
Quality food every time at Avenue Grill. Consistently good service too. I have been going to Avenue Grill for 17 years & I have never been disappointed. Added perk is the parking lot across the street.
My wife and I had dinner at Avenue Grill and thought the place was superb. I had mussels for an appetizer. The garlic and spices broth was so good that I had it as a soup after the mussels were gone. We both had seared sea bass which was excellent. Portions were generous so we ended up taking some home.
Loved it! As always!
I just want to say everything was outstanding. Our waitress was bubbly and very attentive. You want to make sure to not let her getaway. Help like her are hard to find
