Avenue Grill - Denver
The Avenue is a favored lunch and dinner destination among the uptown Denver business crowd, as well as a popular neighborhood bar and grill. What attracts them is the unpretentious, superior service, comfortable ambiance and delicious food. The menu is reminiscent of a San Francisco-style bar and grill with Asian and Italian influences. The Avenue Grill offers our diners free parking in the heart of downtown Denver!

We had a dinner for 6 and everyone was delighted. From Prime Rib to the BEST Lamb Shanks ever. Wonderful value in the "Happy Hour" and a real treat B R COHN Zinfandel. Delicious calamari. A total success for young and old. A Favorite.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere!
Really great building and decor, with a classic bar. We were there for brunch and the Huevos Rancheros was excellent. We live 45 minutes away which is the only reason we wouldn’t be eating here at least once a week. (Note: I use “outstanding” very conservatively! ;-) We really enjoyed the food, the service and the space itself.)
Great service, as always. Good, solid menu, well-cooked. Love that you can have a conversation because lunch is not noisy!
It’s was NYE, and I believe they were just not expecting the high level of traffic. Kitchen was behind over 1 1/2 hours, servers didn’t make it to the tables for the first time until almost 1 hour into being seated. I had reservations for 8:45pm, didn’t get served until 10:50pm. Apologies from the host only, and no discount or free drink or offer of free desert for the problems and extreme wait.
Overall this place is still a favorite of mine, just will not be going during any holiday or special occasion.
Reservation was at 8 and was there on time, didn’t get seated until 9. Kept promising they were only delayed 20 minutes and we weren’t alone. Poor experience. Then was promised they would make it up to us on the bill never happened. Food was average.
Made an 8 pm reservation, waited 1 1/2 hrs to be seated. Waited a half hour for a waiter to come to the table. I understand there was a computer glitch were reservation system malfunction, and they took too many reservation causing a massive table shortage... but really...?
Our reservation wasn’t ready until an hour after the scheduled time. We were provided any recompense for our inconvenience. Our server was rude and absent. The food was coursed our at seemingly random intervals.
One of my most favorite places in town! We always go here for special occasions and have never been disappointed! Not that our server wasn't good but she was very busy and not as attentive as usual but still a great dinner.
Quality food every time at Avenue Grill. Consistently good service too. I have been going to Avenue Grill for 17 years & I have never been disappointed. Added perk is the parking lot across the street.
My wife and I had dinner at Avenue Grill and thought the place was superb. I had mussels for an appetizer. The garlic and spices broth was so good that I had it as a soup after the mussels were gone. We both had seared sea bass which was excellent. Portions were generous so we ended up taking some home.
Loved it! As always!
I just want to say everything was outstanding. Our waitress was bubbly and very attentive. You want to make sure to not let her getaway. Help like her are hard to find
Gear meal and wonderful atmosphere.
The Avenue Grill is solid. Calm atmosphere, varied menu, friendly staff, very good food. I know I will always have an enjoyable meal there.
Great food! Great service! Quiet cozy atmosphere. Bonus, easy parking.
Avenue Grill remains or favorite place to go for brunch and dinner. The large glass windows facing 17th Avenue reveal it's closeness to downtown Denver, with traffic streaming by and and endless procession of pedestrians... A real urban bistro. The new bison dishes were wonderful: a buffalo stroganoff and a braised bison roast were heart aisles for a chilly winter evening. And it's always nice to see a restaurant that's been around for over 30 years, with front house staff that's been there for a decade.
Always top quality food. Our.servwr Jenna was FANTASTIC and fun. Loved it.
Been to Ave Grill many a time over the past 20 years and this meal was the least tasty or
enjoyable. It won't be a "goto" place for use any longer.
Food not as good as usual. We have loved this restaurant for years. We brought friends. Food was disappointing for all. What happened? We are used to being very happy at Avenue Grill.
Server was not that good, didn’t ask if we wanted another cocktail or dessert and didn’t apologize at any point
We have been coming to Avenue for 20 years and Never disappointed. The service was great and they went up an beyond for our friends birthday party. We’ll be back!
Sadly, our server struggled at every level to manage our table of 7. Drinks were slow to arrive, taking our food order was delayed, and every order was mixed up. The checks were a disaster, three attempts still did not result in correct charges. On a slow Saturday afternoon, it was hard to be sympathetic. Food was OK, just not up to what we remembered from many past & pleasant experiences at Avenue Grill.
Avenue Grill use to be a "go to" for a wonderful meal. We went Saturday night and the dishes on the table were dirty, the bread was hard and old tasting, the fish was swimming in sauce and not in a good way. The vegetables didn't taste like vegetables. We will not be back.
Still a nice ambience due to location and old woodwork and bar, but down at the heels. Not well cleaned or maintained!
Great atmosphere & ambience.
The French Toast is off the hook splendoring a hint of Orange tinge.
The Waitress was very nice even in adversity.
There is a Bloody Mary Bar to Compliment this Jewel of a Find for Sunday Brunch.
Quiet Woodsy Eatery Featuring a Martini Bar that I'm sure has a delightful evening Aura.
This used to be a white cloth service restaurant. Food was very good but restaurant seems to be suffering. The owner needs to invest more on service and upscale atmosphere to be in-line with pricing.
Always a great place for a martini and a burger ! This is a place we bring visitors for lunch after an airport pickup or for a nice, friendly dinner.
Very good beef and lobster pasta both fantastic
Excellent service, food and ambiance! It was a great evening!
Entrees were delish!
Ate there 10/1/19. I have dined here many times and the food is consistently very good. The host was rather "whatever" about seating us and I did have a reservation. He just handed us some well worn paper menus that should have been replaced a week ago. I was concerned that the restaurant was rather empty, we were the second table seated. The last few times I have gotten the same waitress, she's not the greatest but she tries. What I really noticed this last time is that the restaurant was quite filthy. I suggest doing away with the ratty green carpet which is caked with greasy "goo" and simply have the wood floor. Funny how a worn wooden floor adds character while a worn carpet is nasty. Of course, I will eat there again, I would just like them to take a little pride in their establishment. Upon departure, there was about 8 tables being served. It used to be much busier during lunch. Makes me wonder what's going on. My bill was $62 dollars for two hamburgers, a sandwich and one iced tea. Pretty steep really after you add the tip.
Nice old fashioned neighborhood restaurant with good food, service, and atmosphere. Not trendy and loud like a lot of newer restaurants. A real neighborhood gem.
This has become our go to favorite when we stay Downtown Denver. Free parking across the street is a big plus.
The waitress was slow in terms of approaching the table when we first arrived - took close to 10 minutes. Also trying to find her in order to ask for the check and once she took the credit card, it took her awhile to return to the table.
I have eaten there several times before and the wait staff were much more attentive to the customers.
Great birthday brunch! Th y even through in dessert for us! Great service.
We have always eaten at Avenue Grill and enjoyed it in the past. But the last two or three visits have been poor. This last trip 8-30-19 will be our last trip. The service was good, but the food was not. Filet steak was very tough to chew, the roast beef was full of fat and gristle, the potatoes were sticky and barely warm, the bread was hard aa a rock and the butter came with a hair in it. The key lime pie was excellent and cheap. The rest of the meal was overpriced. Our bill had a salad we did not order or receive. I'm very sad that one of our favorite places has declined so drastically
