A word from Washington Park Grille
The Zagat Survey says, "There's much to like about this Washington Park Italian-New American: "good food", a "great patio" & "cheerful" service & ambiance."
Upscale thirty-something’s & the college crowd mingle at this popular neighborhood restaurant & gathering place east of Wash Park.
A covered strip on the south side of the building makes for convivial outdoor seating (you just might see a neighbor), and Sunday brunch offers an all you can eat Buffet (juice, soda, coffee and tea are included). A beautiful lounge is off to the side. 11 beers are on tap, 15 in bottles and an excellent wine list at the elegant U-shaped bar.
Dinners are mid-priced, with a nice selection of grilled seafood & steaks & several fancy pasta dishes. The lunch offering is paninis, grilled sandwiches, salads & pasta.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great brunch at reasonable price. The food is fresh and mimosas are a good deal. It would be nice to see table cloths for brunch, but since the price is low I understand missing this detail. The omelette service was slow, but I liked not having to stand at a station line waiting to have it cooked for me. Also, I would not sit in a booth for brunch with more than 2 people as it is inefficient for getting in and out to serve yourself. Overall, this is a great brunch for Denver at a great value."

  • "This is for your information. The restaurant was fine. Open table let me down. When I got to the restaurant they had no record of the reservation."

  • "The booth was quite small. We were all seniors and we felt quite confined. One member of our party uses a walker and she had difficulty getting in to the booth. I don't know what can be done about this, but, it was quite uncomfortable."

  • "Starting with a nice bottle of Malbec and then a great Lobster and Shrimp Macaroni we had a very enjoyble dinner. The menu is diverse and includes anumber of items the the GF crowd will enjoy. Susana took wonderful care of us. Ask for a table by the windows and watch Old South Gaylord come to life in the evening."

  • "We enjoy this place everytime we go - typically for celebrations. The food is wonderful - Alaskan Salmon last night with brown rice cake was outstanding and 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesdays! It was full and energetic; quite loud in the back where we were due to large group & full house - Still well worth the trip!"

  • "For $20/person, you just can't get better than brunch at this vibrant and well managed restaurant in a popular location. All the items on the brunch menu were tasty and well-prepared without a mass production feel. The service was exceptional. Although it was crowded by mid-morning, there never seemed to be a long wait into the brunch area because it is arranged perfectly with a good flow pattern for the patrons. Highly recommended."

  • "I've been here twice, first on a business lunch, and because it was so good then took my mom for a special lunch. Both times the food was well above average, with proper portions. Between the two times, we've tried their salads, pasta and sandwiches, and all were tasty and well thought out. Nice wine list by the glass. Best of all, the service is terrific. For the business lunch the waiter was quick and discrete. For my elderly mom, they slowed down a notch, made sure she understood and went out of their way to get us a quiet table, but without being condescending. Kudos to their wait staff!"

  • "Wait staff is (as always) very pleasant and helpful! One note: cloth napkins were extremely linty (my skirt was covered in white lint)"

  • "Table of five...one ordered soup as first course..two ordered salads as first course. One received their salad as a first course, the soup arrived at the same time as the entree and the other salad did not arrive at all! Little attention by server to the table. Unusal service for the WPG!"

  • "Very excellent restaurant which in my view has everything you want. There is a very nice energetic bar area. The dining room is very posh with a moderate noise level. The outside dining area is more relaxed and quiet. No matter which area you pick the food is excellent."

  • "After hearing about how wonderful Wash Park is I could hardly wait to try the place and was I disappointed. We sat at our table for several minutes before receiving water and the more time before a waiter appeared. When I asked about specials his comment was "I don't know". I asked for the kale and romaine salad with dressing on the side and my friend had the three egg omelet. We also asked for coffee which came almost the time our meal arrived. It took so long for our food to arrive I though they had to go out and grow the kale. The salad was coated in dressing and the omelet was very small and dry. I think they took it off the buffet as it was very dry and almost cold. I would like to say I would go back but it would be hard."

  • "It's been a while since we dined at Wash Park Grill, so not sure if our experience was typical of how things are now or it was just because it was the 4th of July- it was an early dinner, and the restaurant was slow. Although the food was very good, the service was horrible. The person helping serve our food just reached across in front of who ever was in the way to deliver the plate to the right person (is it that hard to walk around to the right spot to put down a plate?) Our waitress disappeared after delivering our food ... no offer to refresh our drinks, or ask if everything was OK. We did get a water refill eventually. She resurfaced to clear our plates, at which time we just asked for the check. I'll think twice before going back."

  • "This has been my 3rd visit, the food was outstanding and so was our server. Great place to take a date! but 2 out of the 3 times we ordered Pizza and added a twist the kitchen messed up the order We had to watch others get their food ahead of us even though we were there much sooner. Now to the credit of the management they came out and comp the pizza and 1 sweet dish, which was nice but it takes away our time and our visit. We are from Boulder so the drive wasn't a short one. I hope this gets back to the kitchen! the on thing that really didn't settle was I had to ask about our meal based on others getter theirs first. The server should have come out and given us a appetizer to show some good faith!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal and spectacular, friendly service at an early evening meal. The outside seating was great, and my out of town guests loved the atmosphere."

  • "We love the atmosphere in this place - very eclectic bar/lounge, reasonable size dining area (not too big). We've been here for drinks before; this was the first time for a meal. It took awhile for our waiter to initially acknowledge us (we had to ask for him) but from that point on he was very attentive and entertaining. Diverse menu geared for mature tastes."

  • "food was excellent, but service lacking (unusual for this place). Waiter was unattentive and rang up overcharges."

  • "Always enjoy the place...a bit too noisy with 5 very cute( too bad they knew it!) loud young ladies. Food, wine, even dessert all great and good waitstaff."

  • "We haven't been there for awhile because we got a little tired of their menu. When I saw online that they had changed it we decided to give it a try. We started with a drink at the bar - they do not make you feel welcome there - actually kind of put off. Maybe it's because we aren't really YOUNG but who knows. Once we sat at the table no one came to serve us until we finally had to flag someone down. Our server was nice, but we felt like we were an inconvenience. My fish dish was ok but so overdresses that it might have been chicken for all I could taste. It got very busy while we were eating (which is great for the restaurant!) but it was so LOUD we could hardly hear each other. Not sure about going back."

  • "Fish was over done but everything else was great especially the service"
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "The cocktails were cheap (happy hour) but weak with not much alcohol in them, very disappointing as we were celebrating a special occasion. We also have to ask them not to put ice in the fruit juice drinks, which they ignored and we had to send them back - its a ripoff if you ask for a fruit juice, and get 3/4 glass of ice with a 1/4 cup of fruit juice-. The food varies at this place sometimes its good other times its nothing special. Also if you give a person a bowl of liquid soup its a good idea to provide spoons and side plates for the bread etc. However it's in a great area and the ambience is good and other times the food, service and wine has been very good. "

  • "Food, service, & presentation were excellent. Sea bass & polenta were fresh & full of flavor..crispy on outside & tender inside topped with a delicious "compote" that blended with the fish and did not mask the flavor. Piped in music was very annoying, however...a steady pounding club music type beat that never changed! noise level too loud for us. "

  • "My family and I have been patrons of Wash Park Grill for years, both for family events and business lunches. I planned a birthday lunch for my daughter and thought it would be a perfect place! Unfortunately, the food was only so-so, but the experience was worsened by horrible service. Beginning with no knowledge of the wine list and then an interminable wait for both our drinks and the food, the lunch went downhill from there. We were even commiserating with the table next to us whose diners were equally dissatisfied. We did notice a marked lack of diners (compared to other festival years, when you couldn't get near the place!) and I guess, now we know why."
