Diner Reviews
  • "We had Easter Brunch here and it was a great experience. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dishes: French Toast with Rhubarb Compote, Shop Dudes Breakfast and Wild Mushroom Scramble. Coffee comes in a French press, which I love. The decor features recycled wood on the tables and ceiling. The only off-putting thing is the red thistle and deer skull wallpaper but I'll arrange to sit with my back to that next time since it's only on one wall."

  • "Took my wife to The Curtis Club last weekend for her birthday dinner. First of all, was very disappointed with the food overall. Neither the appetizers nor our entrees tasted good. Also, even though during reservation I had requested a nice table for this birthday dinner - and their staff had called me to confirm my reservation the day before - no one wished my wife "Happy Birthday!". And we just got one of the regular tables. To be honest, the whole place appeared poorly managed... Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed, and will not be back."

  • "Friendly staff who made us feel really great about our choice. Groups are hard to hear, it's a little loud, but great for a romantic meal. Food quality was excellent. I would recommend that the wait staff, who are amazingly friendly, work on knowing how things are prepared and ingredients, as well as how to better time the delivery. The menu is a bit weird (Llama) and knowing how the chef approaches the food and how it is prepared would be great. A good mix of people. Solid experience."

  • "The food was as expected; great. The service was also consistent with other reviews; just a little slow. The restaurant was not full for Sunday brunch and they did not appear to be understaffed, however, the vibe was to relax and enjoy your time. Unfortunately, some of the time was with empty drinks and such, but all in all, I will be returning. We all had something different food wise and my hamburger might have been the best I have had since moving to Denver 6 years ago!"

  • "I went to Curtis Club with a group of 8. We started out with happy hour cocktails and appetizers. Everything was well prepared and the flavors were great. We particularly enjoyed the Sliders. The wait staff seems to be a younger group, so there is a little more casual feel about them than other restaurants I would put in this 'genre'. All in all we were very well taken care of. I particularly appreciated our waitress who, when I raised concern over the portion size of my duck breast, took my "complaint" to the chef and the rectified the situation immediately. Thank you Curtis Club for a very enjoyable dining experience!"

  • "Wonderful lunch spot. Quality of food surpassed only by the friendliness and helpful was of the waitstaff. Will return as soon as I get the chance!"

  • "I've been wanting to try Curtis Club since they opened and we finally made it a few nights ago. Worth the wait for sure. The food was fantastic (get the Rabbit dish) and the service top notch. Many times you can't have a conversation with your table guests at these places, but we found the place energetic, but still quiet enough to visit with our friends. So great place to take another couple and catch up! Wine list was decent and not overly priced like so many hot restaurants. Can't wait to go back! "

  • "The Curtis Club has revived a small neighborhood Mexican spot and is a delightful find with delicious food. Casual yet excellent."

  • "I had read some reviews that complained about the service, or that the food was so-so. But mostly they were good. I thought it would be fun to try a newer restaurant for my birthday dinner with the fam, and was not disappointed! Two of us had veg entrees and they were both very good. My hubby ordered the carnival, which was like a sampler of maybe six veg things, like panella, yellow beets, and a tangy ragout. I had pasta with fresh peas, and goat cheese. The goat cheese fondue starter was ridiculous. I love goat cheese. Meat eaters in our group loved the halibut and alpaca, but the pork belly wasn't a hit. Ah, can't win 'em all. A great Malbec and non-alcoholic chai-vanilla soda drink to wash it down too. Oh, and our server was great!"

  • "I wouldn't waste my time going unless you're into interesting decor. I went with an architect friend who was interested in the space. We should have stopped in for a drink (a watery drink) and then gone somewhere where they understand flavor."

  • "Excellent food but limited menu......limited wine list.......interesting decor, both casual and chic......fun spot.....but too limited in seating for cross-conversation.....need more normal 4-top tables....too hard to converse at the bar top type tables....would not probably go back, too many other places to try in Denver and seating is not optimal."

  • "Well done venue, food was surprisingly good - for some reason we were hesitant. Service at 845p on Friday was slower than expected, but place was rocking. Portions were right size and not overwhelming. Taste, flavors, and variety of textures were all paired well - tenderloin was a treat, and the halibut was tasty, though likely too salty for most palates."

  • "Cool little place, food and service were great, fun drinks. Will definitely go back!"

  • "The food was great but the service was terrible. We do understand that it was opening day for the Rockies, but our first server pretty much left us unattended for a very long time until another one took pity on us. I doubt if we will return. The second server was good but, by then, it was too little, too late. Sorry!"

  • "The soft shell crab had no flavor.---Lots of garlic & no other seasoning. The salad was quite good. It was not a memorable meal for me. My friend claimed that his sea bass was great ."

  • "Very attractive menu and presentation. Worth trying for sure. The lobster bisque was extraordinary. While there were only three tables in use, we were jammed into a corner immediately next to one of the other tables. The table was in a dark corner while delightful tables in a sunny window were free. Small plate items should be clearly identified on the brunch menu. Two in our party were served burned bacon."

  • "I took my wife to The Curtis Club for our two year anniversary because I saw it was on the top ten best new restaurants in the 5280 magazine. We are new to the Denver area and thought we would give it a try. I am a professional chef so maybe my standards are a little high when I go out but I must say I do know how certain food should be prepared and how a proper service should be. Our servers energy level was very low and when we asked him for suggestions he didn't really have an opinion. My rabbit pate was very bland, my wife's beef sliders were more on the raw than rare side. I got the duck entree, my duck breast skin was very soggy, I had barely any duck confit, and the dessert menu was so unappealing we went and got donuts elsewhere."

  • "The Curtis Club is a great new place! The food was excellent. We had the Brussels sprouts as an app, the tenderloin was off the charts, and the special yellow tail was excellent. The ambiance was really interesting and fun with the unique decor and open concept. The bartenders we great and our table service was ok. The music was quite loud for dinner conversation but they did turn it down once we asked them to do so. All in all The Curtis Club is definitely a place to go for dinner. We are thinking it would be fun just for drinks as well."

  • "Heard through the grapevince about this new spot. Went for a ladies night out and we enjoyed the food & service! The menu was small, no complaints, but in that case we wanted to order everything and try it out. What we ate: Pacific Oysters- Mignonette sauce was delsih, got 1/2 dozen for two ppl, perfect for a starter Charcutiere & local cheese selection- great variety Curtis Club Salad- simple salad but so tasty! Duck Plate - delish, must try! It was a great expereince & looking forward going again & trying out more of the menu."

  • "We arrived 10 minutes before our 7pm reservation and were greeted by the hostess with "Your table isn't quite ready yet, please don't hesitate to grab a drink a bar". We made our way to the bar and grabbed a couple of drinks. Still no word from the hostess after 15 minutes despite a couple of tables being sat. I walked over to inquire with the hostess answering very curtly "You table should be ready in the next couple of minutes...we are short a busser tonight". Well after another 15 minutes, and a few more tables before us, we were lead to a community table which we politely declined and only then were we directed to one of many open 2 tops. Our excellent waiter is the only reason I didn't rate the overall experience as 'poor'."

  • "I thought the food was high quality, flavors great and some of the dishes different than other restaurants. Relatively small portions for the price. I would say that this is a foodies place first and worth the visit for special occasions."

  • "Food was good, menu creative and Colorado focused. Service was not good. If I'm paying over $50 for two people, I expect service to know not to clear plates until all diners are done eating. Don't deliver the dessert menus until everyone is done with the entree."

  • "I read all the rave reviews, and was really looking forward to dinner at the Curtis Club. The noise level made conversation difficult, even at the relatively early hour. All that pine beetle wood reflects a lot of sound. I was pleased to see several vegetarian options on the menu, and ordered the vegetarian carnival-a medley of vegetarian dishes. It was surprisingly heavy, and not very good. My husband had the trio of sliders, which were good enough, but nothing spectacular. The best part of the meal was the key lime pie. It was not too sweet, not too tart. It had a savoriness that was interesting and quite good."

  • "After reading the story in the Denver Post, we made reservations for an early dinner. Keep in mind lots of combined seating/tables (even for reservations). The ambience was comfortable, dark wood, exterior like lighting, wonderful large outdoor photograph behind bar. Beer and wine list were nice, petit syrah and a Belgium 8 oz w/dinner. Food were medium to small portions, rabbit stew was nice...Oho special had a bit too much sweetness (maybe to heavy on balsamic) yet a wonderful presentation and dinner overall."

  • "This restaurant is solid. The food was really good - we had the lobster and grits and the mushrooms dish. Both quite good and flavorful. Next time I'll go for the bolognese for a hardier dish. Favorite part of the the meal was the key lime tart. Yum! Ambiance was great- loved the reclaimed wood used throughout the interior. Lively comfortable feel. Overall really good experience."

  • "This was our second time at CC. The food was still outstanding but our server was a little distracted or something. He missed part of our order and we had to wait quite a while. When it came to hi attention, he handled it well although he subsequently missed my coffee order. We still had a great time and will certainly be back."

  • "We and the couple next to us both ordered the rabbit rillette app. Ours came with a quail egg on top as advertised, and with pickled veggies. Theirs had a hard boiled chicken egg cut into quarters and no veggies. The appetizers portions are larger than the entrees. Also, we got dry yogurt cake with a drop of sauce and a very underwhelming pudding for dessert."

  • "What more could you ask for, great food, great drinks, incredible service, nice environment. Perfect little downtown dinner place."
    Dined on 3/18/2014
  • "Our small/shared plates were terrific, but the entrees were smaller than a typical entree, and they lacked flavor. The service was off as well. We had some plates that were removed after we finished, but not others… so half of our group sat for a long time with empty oyster shells (and other used plates) during the time before our entrees. They did not replace our cutlery either after it was finally removed from our first course dishes. We asked for more, and they inexplicably gave just 2 of us replacements, not the other 2 in our party. I'd return for the cocktail menu and bar scene, but with as many fabulous restaurants in Denver these days, it would be hard to go back for a full meal here."

  • "The food & service was excellent. Only complaint is it is very loud."

  • "Great service, great vibe. We started with the oyster appetizer, 6 for $18. We had duck and steak for entrees. The duck was spectacular, as was the filet."

  • "while I have had good duckie and bunny before, I was disappointed that the entire menu was small furry animals and a bison with the mushroom vegetarian dish. The palenta? was bland, tasteless, and I was hungry when I got home...."

  • "A welcome, modern addition to the Denver restaurant mix at an unassuming corner on the fringes of Ballpark. Funky/chic decor, good happy hour and cocktail options, and friendly if slightly-unpolished service. Our entrees (rabbit and duck) were excellent, with a level of refinement that belies CC's neighborhood hangout vibe. Only quibble is the lack of separation between the rather raucous bar scene and the dining tables, but alas that is all too common these days. If you're under 35, you'll probably love it. If over 40, you'll tolerate it because the food is so good."

  • "The greens were light and refreshing, it did not fill me up before the main entree, smoked trout, which was excellent. My wife had the tenderloin with a peppercorn-prune sauce, the taste was unique and it complimented the-cooked-to-perfection-beef. Also, the french press was a nice finish to the rich and savory chocolate dessert. With cocktails and a glass of wine for dinner, the total, including a 20% tip, was less than $90."

  • "The good points: well prepared food, friendly service, minimal and quirkily decor; well priced food and wine. Not so great: pay to park, VERY noisy, our server was not completely confident about how some dishes were prepared but did know where dairy was used. Overall we enjoyed venturing to a new and recently acclaimed restaurant but I think we were left wanting for something memorable and a reason to come back. I would recommend this place for folks interested in trying new places and the food was good especially for the price. I should also say that we visited on a Wednesday night and by the time we left, just after 8, the place was hopping! I would come again with a friend but think I will not revisit with the husband."

  • "I took my wife for dinner on her birthday. We were excited because the previous reviews were so positive. First of all, we love the build out. It was a mix of old and new with a definite Colorado feel. Service was fine but the food was just average. I ordered the Colorado Bass which just a piece of fish swimming in a nice broth. The presentation was just ok. My daughter had the Bison Bolognese. We thought this was a traditional red sauce but it was more like beef stroganoff. It tasted good but wasn't what was expected. The beef tenderloin my wife had was just average as well. My wife and I talked about the experience on the way home and we both thought the Curtis Club would be great to go back for drinks and apps but that's about it."

  • "Meaning very small, but very tasty! It was restaurant week, so it could be that the prix fix impacted the restaurant's portion sizes so they could be profitable. I had the rabbit - excellent! My husband also enjoyed his dinner. The bread pudding was outstanding. The wine pairing was not worth the price. The service was great, but too fast, so that is why the restaurant didn't get a perfect score. We barely ordered our wine, and everything was cleared quickly and the next course arrived as soon as the previous one was done. We were in and out in 50 minutes, and it was supposed to be a romantic evening. We weren't asked if we wanted another glass of wine, coffee or an after dinner drink."

  • "It's always good to hit the jackpot at a new restaurant and that is what happened Wednesday night. Our group of 5 gathered at the Curtis Club at 6:00 for dinner and enjoyed everything about our new find. Parking was easy to find. The hostess made us feel welcome as did the warm, open atmosphere of the dining room. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. As is often the case in busy restaurants, the noise level was high. Since the room is wide open without much to soften the noise, conversation requires a sharp ear and an extra effort to be heard by all at the table. No problem once the food is served as a silence of contentment settled on all of our party as we all enjoyed soup, salad entree and desert."

  • "I chose this restaurant from the restaurant week list because it got five stars and it was new. Indeed, the food was very good. The restaurant week menu was unusual and included rabbit, one of my favorites to order out. This was well prepared , though the preparation was so elegant it disguised the rabbit taste. The white bean soup with lavender which came first was excellent. Only the dessert was just ok but not great; the chocolate soufflé was the best. Wine pairing was fine. I know the design and décor, like a very classy western horse barn, is meant to be special but I found it cold, uninviting, and cavernous. Interesting, but not to my taste. Service was certainly adequate, but nothing like Il Posto's."
