The Crown Room is an elegant dining experience tucked away in a quiet intimate setting inside The New Downs.

We can boast about the incredible food, wine selections, our selection of ten 18 year or older scotchs, our large selection of Kentucky Bourbons and atmosphere…but what you won’t believe is the impeccable service. We don’t want to spoil the fun and surprises, but what we can tell you, Albuquerque is now in for an incredible treat.

Don’t believe us? Take a moment to view the wine list and menu. If you want to give your palate and your dining companion a flavorful adventure, there just isn’t a better option than The Crown Room.

  • "Totally incompetent wait staff and management! 10 minutes before being acknowledged - ridiculous esp. in such a small room! Only excuses from waiter who called us "guys" "hey guys" "sorry guys". His shirt half tucked, cracked his knuckles & was extremely ill-informed about menu. He never cleared dishes from 3 courses & did not fill our empty water glasses. We spoke to the 'manager' about the lack of service & our disappointment, he then tried to clear the same dishes our ghost waiter was trying to clear - what bumbling incompetence! Lobster appetizer was the ONLY good food - 'fresh' pear/gorgonzola salad used canned pears & WAY too much cheese & dressing. The filet was COVERED in sauce au poivre...which was really gravy."

  • "I assume we hit it on an off night. I know our server was brand new, and what happened was not his fault. He was not being followed at all by management or helped by other servers. Everyone around us seemed happy, but our table of 4 didn't get the relish tray until mid-way through our nearly 4 hour dining experience (because of all of the wait time), when we had to ask for it. We never got a sorbet course, we never got a coffee w/dessert that was requested 3 times & showed up on the tab, and the ladies never got the roses that we saw all the other ladies around us get. As if this wasn't bad enough, the food was only OK."

  • "Sadly, this restaurant has gone down hill since our visit in April. The first visit saw impeccable service, this time our empty drink glasses weren't refilled without lots of prompting and lots of waiting. My husband ordered a drink from the bar that never arrived. Nobody came by to see how the food was (still very good.). The relish tray has also been cut back - no more deviled eggs or sweet pickles. I was hoping this would be our go to place for special occasions, but alas it is just an overpriced restaurant with service going in the wrong direction."

  • "I guess I visited because I was curious. Why is this place in a casino on Central and Louisiana Avenue? I wanted it to be great. The bar and the cocktails were excellent. The service was also very good. An impressive wine list as well, but its Saturday night and my wife and I are the only diners in the restaurant from 8 to 10PM. A dress code was mentioned but most definitely not observed by the few diners I saw when we arrived. This restaurant is trying to do something different in the wrong part of town. You will find that our when you see the table dinner menu. Sixty dollars for a rib eye? With mushroom sauce? I may lose my mind once in a while and pay for a really great experience but this is not the place. I will not be back."

  • "This year we chose the Crown Room to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We didn't know what to expect, but the Crown room well exceeded our expectations. When we first saw the prices on the menu, I admit we were a tad taken aback, However, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was five star. The chef even came out a couple of times to ensure we were happy with our food. Of course we couldn't help but compliment him on his culinary talent. All and all, we definitely felt we got our money's worth. Albuquerque doesn't have many restaurants of this caliber, so I highly recommend you try this restaurant. Especially for special occasions."

  • "The service was extraordinary. The food not so much. Caesars salad dressing tasted store bought and several of the fish dinners were overcooked. Desert was table side Bananas Foster which was excellent. All in all it has delightful service, great ambience but mediocre food."

  • "I was looking for somewhere different to take my mother, so glad I heard about The rown Room! The staff was wonderful the manage, Jennifer was very professional and very acommodating! The food...oh the food! Everyone at my table had something different and we were all extremely happy with our choices. I will recommend The Crown Room to everyone I talk to."

  • "The food and service at the Crowne Room are second to none in Albuquerque. There are a lot of complimentary extras thrown in including a delish relish tray and sorbet with Dom Perion? The service was outstanding and I found the prices reasonable with all of the extras included. Be sure to try the sea bass and au gratin potatoes. You won't be diappointed."

  • "This was one of, if not the best experience I've had at a restaurant in Albuquerque. Highly recommend for a romantic evening or a special occasion. The food was superb and the service was outstanding, between our bartender and our waiter we had just the right amount of attention."

  • "I didn't know the fairgrounds casino had an upper crust restaurant. We were impressed from the time we sat down until the time we walked out the door. The wait staff is elite. The food was great. The ambiance was very nice but lacked an intimate setting for two. Was very pleasantly surprised by this little casino restaurant. The wait staff is amazingly polished."

  • "My wife and I went on Valentine's Day. As soon as you walk in you are blown away by beauty. The bar looks picture perfect, the tables are fantastic. The lighting is dim and calming. The waitress was honest and helpful. Cons: Appetizers were too hefty. And my three gripes: 1.) The filet mignon was dry. The delicious fat inside had already congealed and tasted like paste. I know steak and this was very disappointing. If I were to guess, it was pre cooked, then cooked to order. If so, that's amateur. 2.) Because of the dried out meat, I could tell the steak knife was dull. 3.) The ice cream in the Banana Fosters was too hard, even after pouring warm sauce over it. Conclusion: Not worth the money."

  • "The food was way above average.....but the great service resulted in a nice, reasonably quiet, special occasion romantic evening. The wine service was very personable, complimenting before meal and entree selections. Walking past the smoke filled casiono was a litle concerning, but once you enter the the Crown Rooms large carved door, the smoke dissapates without any lingering odor. Definitly an evening to be repeated. Thank you."

  • "I found The Crown Room on Open Table, I had never heard of it and was leary with it being located at the Downs. I was pleasantly surprised. It was beautiful and the food was great. You can actually pretend you are not in slot machine heaven. I would definitely go again and recommend it."

  • "Lovely staff and service, alas the food did not live up to the reviews and was just ok whyVeal Saltimbocca doesn't have tomato,cheese and mushroom in preparation it was very salty, overwhelming with sage that overwhelmed the veal.Brussels sprout they were served whole with fiberous untrimmed ends not blanched and sautéed with shallot to compliment the pancetta. Truffle potatoes bland devoid of flavor the truffle oil(there was no visible truffle in the dish) was muted. Fruit sautéed in butter over ice cream yikes melted butter paired with ice cream = little bits of cold butter floating in melted ice cream? Amazing reviews I was so excited to dine here paid top dollar for a dining experience where the food is mediocre sorry"

  • "This a dining experience so don't expect a quick meal. Great food with the best service we've ever had in NM. Duck rellenos were excellent and the smoked/blackened prime rib was perfection. Lots of between course extras were a nice surprise. We went for our anniversary and they threw in a complimentary flight of desert wines with our desert. Fonseca Bin 27 was outstanding. Can't wait to go back."

  • "The restaurant has only been open a few months and is generally good, but still needs a few improvements. They start you off with a plate of various pickles and other items. They were not amazing, but I appreciated something different. Among my group, we ordered the chicken, filet, pork chops, and scallops, as well as several sides. All dishes were cooked well. Unfortunately, most of the dishes were also heavy on the garlic. The food was all good, just none of it was amazing. The wine and cocktail list was not overly impressive, but interesting and reasonably priced. The restaurant is inside a casino, but the ambiance in the restaurant is nice. Overall, they have some improvements to make, but I will try it again in a few months."

  • "I felt like I could have been in a 4-5 star restaurant in Vegas. The service was literally without comparison in Albuquerque. The menu offerings held no big surprises (steaks and seafood mainly), but all the food was very well cooked, and nothing I ordered disappointed. I felt like they were still refining the offerings for food and drink, having just opened, and some things seem disproportionately priced. There were even a couple of complementary surprise intermediate courses that really made the dinner more special. This experience is not cheap. Plan to spend minimum $60-100/person, plus tip & drinks, and you will have a great meal!"
