Diner Reviews
  • "I had chicken fried noodles / rice, very different meal, portion was good enough, though I was skeptical at first. The sushi tuna taco appetizer is so good. Great ambiance, took my Daughter to celebrate her last week on her Summer Internship"

  • "I like the eclectic food and wines here. The staff is very, very good. The food is different but every dish I have had has been terrific. The bartenders are creative too. Pick a spirit and let them mix you something unique."

  • "Food was amazing! I always enjoy trying something new - you really can't go wrong."

  • "TAG never disappoints us with their food. It's solid. We love the hanger steak and the black cod. Duck fat fries are crispy and delicious (though can be a bit too sweet for me with the sugar added). However, I have to say that the "specialty" cocktails are almost always a miss. They sound good on paper, and they are inventive. But the flavor combinations just seem to miss the mark every time (for us). I'll stick to wine; they have a nice list. And the standard cocktails are great (just skip the house tonic - it's too odd flavored for a traditionalist)."

  • "food - good, left feeling more full than I would think given what I ate. Very rich flavors. Oddly my wife had the cod and felt ill after dinner and has vowed never to go back. service - great for me the real bummer was the 4 top booths along the wall; I was very uncomfortable because it seemed the cushions were jabbing my lumbar or kidney depending on how I sat. I couldn't lean forward to listen without being on edge or on the table, I couldn't sit all the way back without not being able to hear very well because of the liveliness. And under the table seemed very cramped. oh well."

  • "I had a client in from NY and I could not have made a better dining choice. Great food, fantastic service, and fun atmosphere. We had the duck, steak, and fish and they all had great flavor."

  • "We've eaten at TAG at least 6 times in the past 18 months. Always enjoyed it, especially sitting at the chef's counter. Not so great experience Saturday night. Kitchen staff seemed out of sorts, and the food showed. Not up to the usual high standards. But the biggest kicker was the new cheap wine pours. A 3 ounce glass of wine? Seriously? If you're now doing 3 ounce pours and calling that a "glass", tell your customers. But don't charge me 25% of the price of a bottle for that glass. With so many other great restaurants in Denver, we won't be back any time soon."

  • "TAG feels like the chef or owner visited San Francisco and Manhattan 7 years ago and still thinks the dishes are current. Tired menu. Tired decor. Our server, Marie, was deadpan to the point of annoying. I've rarely had a server who seemed so over it. She hates working there, obviously. No reason to dine here."

  • "The restaurant is located in Larmier Square so it is apart of that area's vibe which is a good thing. We enjoyed an appetizer special of chicken liver pate' that was our most enjoyed dish. If you land on a day that it is being served, I highly recommend it. Our server Heather, was effiecient and pleasant. TAG is a solid restaurant I think most people that are semi-adventurous eaters would enjoy."

  • "We had a great meal at Tag. The service was great. The food drinks and desert were all very good. 19year anniversary dinner."

  • "Tag is a favorite. We started with sushi tacos and a yum heirloom tomato burrata appetizer. The black cod was delicious - buttery and flavorful. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. He recommended a bottle of wine that we had never tried before and it was perfect with our food. Great overall experience."

  • "The bar is small, but vibrant. The drinks are interesting and bartenders are engaging. The food was good - they are known for the tacos as an appetizer."

  • "Prior to my last visit, TAG was my favorite restaurant. I had a co-worker come to town and we needed a restaurant for dinner and an evening to go over work items. We had great food, and our server Kristin was incredible. I would rate her a 10. Everything was fine, until we were asked to leave because a large group was coming in and they needed our table. I was completely morified by this request. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours, but we also paid a ridiculous amount for our food. We were going over work items and it was rude to be interruped, especially to be asked to leave. I will NEVER go to TAG again. I was going to plan a large event in TAG Underground this December, but that will not be happening. I will not recommend!!"

  • "Food excellent. Server steered us to great choices. Husband engaged in spirited banter with head server Chad. Everyone attentive without obtrusive. Very fun evening. Came early on a Sunday so noise not bad. Good side seat to watch and enjoy"

  • "I loved the experience overall and the food was fantastic. Except our waitress Marie was horrible. She ignored me while I was waiting for my friend and never asked if I needed anything. I ended up waiting a good 15 minutes... I ended up ordering the pigs in a blanket but that might as well have been called fat in a thin coating. However I did love the steak and the manager introduced himself to us. He seemed very nice. The bathrooms were kind of annoying since you have to go down an elevator to get to them."

  • "My husband took me here for my birthday when we were visiting Denver. I was greeted with a bday card signed by the entire staff. Everyone was so friendly. They showed us to our table. The tables are very close together and it is loud, but a great ambience. We had some very nice couples on both sides of us, so it was enjoyable. The food was amazing. We started with the short ribs and dumplings...WOW!! My husband had the butterfish...AMAZING and I had the Miso Blackened Cod...EXCELLENT!!! The desserts did not disappoint! The tart was delicious and the toffee crunch cake was YUMMY!! Excellent choice and wonderful bday celebration!! Would DEFINITELY go back and recommend to others."

  • "We eat out a lot like New Yorkers, so here's out take: Food - well done, on par with better spots in the Denver restaurant scene. Hawaiian Fish is best imo. Halibut nicely done. Wish they had better cuts of beef than hanger steak but well prepared for a tougher cut. Appetizers and salads are good but lacking in flavor compared to their entrees. Sticky toffee pudding best of desserts. Service - attentive, seemed passionate about working at TAG which is a good sign. Kitchen service was unfortunately slow though Atmosphere - dark interior with vibrant bar scene. energetic. Overall - been here many times, will go again, but hope the kitchen staff cooking time isn't as terribly slow next time"

  • "Overall, TAG is a great restaurant and one to try. Their Miso Black Cod is one of my favorite dishes in all of Denver -- perfectly cooked and packs lots of flavor. Service was as expected, and the overall experience was enjoyable. There were two downsides that made this restaurant a 4 star rather than 5 star. First, not every dish was prepared perfectly -- the Alaskan Halibut we also ordered was overcooked and a cocktail came to the table unfinished. Second, this is not a romantic location -- tables are a little longer than standard, which means you are that much further away from your mate, and, closely spaced to one another. As my other stated, "I'm closer to the two guys next to me [at other tables] than I am to you.""

  • "Everything about place was perfect. Took my wife for her 40th and she was so thrilled with the food and the wine recommendation. Duck, Mongchong fish, chicken, and salmon were the big flavors of the night. We will be back!"

  • "We were in Denver for a conference and went to TAG for dinner. There were 5 of us and the table was a bit tight but the food and service made the entire evening great. Our best night of the week!"

  • "Our first experience at Tag a few years ago was tops; it has since fallen off our radar from the poor service. The last 2 times we've dined here my dinner wine arrived at the table about 15 min. after the food was served - unacceptable. The taco sushi is really good, as is the miso cod, but the ono was hard and dry and pretty tasteless. After 2 consecutive experiences with shoddy service we will not be going back - too many other good places to eat close by. "

  • "Located in a popular downtown neighborhood TAG is a nice intimate restaurant with a limited menu which I love. Not too many choices to mull over. I had the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. My hubs had the marinated loin chop and he loved the flavor and juiciness of the chop. The signature cocktails were interesting too. The potsticker app was good too. "

  • "My experience with TAG before, during and after the dinner was outstanding. The day before our dinner, they informed me of a change in the location of the valet stand and paid attention to my special request. We were greeted warmly and were seated immediately. Our server was attentive and thorough from start to finish. We felt special and appreciated and as though our business mattered to them. We will be back again."

  • "I have always enjoyed TAG every time I have been. I tried a few of their seasonal signature cocktails and I didn't love on of them, but the wait staff and bartender made sure it was right. The food was also excellent as always. I would recommend checking at TAG for a unique dining experience. "

  • "The food is divine. That said --our waiter disappeared after we received our entrees, and the tables were placed way too close to each other. If you don't know the people sitting next to you, you feel like you are in the middle of their personal conversation."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "My family and I love Tag! Great ambience, great drinks, and great food. For starters, you must get the amante picante cocktail. Even if you are not a fan of tequila, the mix of lime, cilantro, jalapeño, and cucumber work together to balance the drink perfectly and create for a truly tasty drink. Moving on to the food, the caramelized butterfish is outstanding - the fish literally melts in your mouth. Another favorite is the flash seared hawaiian kampachi, which has pop rocks in it, adding a very unique and tasty component to the dish. While the edamame appetizer is not on the dinner menu anymore, it is an absolute must if you dine at Tag (just ask your server!). For dessert, the sticky toffee cake was simply divine. Bottom line - amazing!"

  • "TAG has gotten a lot of top notch reviews, and I've been looking forward to trying it out. We went to celebrate our anniversary. It may have just been one night and one set of menu selections (my wife and I shared two appetizers and two entrees), but TAG wasn't as good as I had hoped. Not that it was bad, or even average, but it just wasn't great."

  • "My husband and I chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. It was my first time in Denver and I heard great things about TAG on many reviews and visitor websites. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we were treated so well and greeted by many staff members who wished us a 'happy anniversary.' Although the food item I initially ordered was no longer available, I found a suitable replacement and was happily surprised by the deliciousness of the food. If we are ever in Denver again, I will definitely be visiting TAG again."

  • "Tag turned out to be a great dining experience. My party was seated quickly, met by the wait staff with drink suggestions, and our food was ordered. Before the food was brought out, the manager came by to apologize because my chicken had been overcooked and was discarded, as they cooked me a new chicken. In the meantime, they brought us complimentary sushi tacos and apologized profusely for the tardiness of our food. I was impressed that instead of serving overdone chicken, they'd take the time to fix the mistake. The waiter topped of my friend's rose and brought my partner a glass of wine that he thought would compliment the skirt steak entree. At the close of the meal, we were treated to a small dessert."
