A word from Sushi Sasa
Sushi Sasa is designed to offer Denver the opportunity to enjoy Traditional and "New Style" Japanese cuisine harmoniously beneath one roof. The seasonal, healthy, beautiful and affordable tasting menu compliments the fully functioning sushi bar bridging the gap between East coast innovation and West coast charm. Bilingual chefs man the sushi bar at the rear of the zen-like space and offer up exotic fish and produce from around the world with the heart of the cuisine remaining Japanese. With a wonderful sake and wine list and a cozy downstairs lounge, Sushi Sasa is a perfect place for a business lunch or a nice dinner with friends.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I gave the ambience "Very Good" and not "Outstanding" because as Sushi Sasa, it really depends on where you're seated. Service was impeccable, food was amazing. If you eat sashimi an they have Madai when you're there, for sure get it. Melts in your mouth!!!"

  • "The ambiance, food quality, and innovative menu all rank about any other sushi restaurant in Denver."

  • "Restaurant was very busy and food was excellent, but service was sub par. The servers seemed annoyed when we asked for things and disappeared at various parts throughout the evening. We were the last table in the restaurant - not due to our own volition, but because everything was slow, including getting the check."

  • "Fresh tasting, delicious sushi; don't know how they manage to differentiate such seemingly simply presentations with such exceptional flavor, but they do. Our meals were slightly delayed; before we noticed, a manager was at our table to apologize and comp our drinks; amazing! Everything, the rolls (we shared the tempura crab roll and one containing eel), every piece of sushi, and the tempura cheesecake bite for dessert was so fresh, wonderfully flavorful and beautiful. This was my first visit; can't wait to brings others."

  • "The sushi was reasonably good but it was all we ordered and we both felt off after. I wish we had ordered some other dishes instead."

  • "It was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious and great service. My family has food allergies and the waitress was excellent making sure the details were relayed appropriately to the chef. Thank you for a lovely evening."

  • "Miso soup with clams was great. House sake was great. The decor was great. Price is okay. But the quality of the fish; salmon, tuna, etc. was just not right, typical of fish that has been frozen and thawed improperly."

  • "Wayne Conwell knows how to both present sushi and convey an inviting atmosphere for an amazing sushi experience."

  • "Went here for a date. We're seated on time and greeted nicely by the staff. Food came out in a timely manner however we were disappointed with the sushi roll creations. The quality of the fish was good however we felt the rolls were mediocre. Dessert was the most disappointing part of the evening, We went with our waitress recommendations which was the cheesecake with ice cream and we were surprised to find this dish is something you would find at a cheap diner that's trying really hard. It was tempura fried cheesecake balls with vanilla ice cream, no balance to anything, nothing complemented what was on the plate, too rich, too creamy, too sweet. . We'd go back for the nice ambiance and maybe order sashimi, nigiri, and drinks, end of story"

  • "It is without a doubt, the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in. Avoid sitting in the basement. There is nothing to absorb sound. We had to move upstairs, luckily a table was available. Service was horrible in the basement and upstairs. The sushi was great though! some of the best in town. Consider getting your food to go as I saw many people doing."

  • "We love this place! The fish is always fresh and delish! A little expensive but for a special date night, it is perfect!"

  • "Awesome vegetarian sushi (and regularly sushi too). Try the green dragon roll!"

  • "This place gives Sushi Den a run for its money. The spicy tuna roll we had was excellent, as were the honey glazed lamb chop bites. The crab croquettes were just so-so. Tempura cheesecake (yes fried cheesecake) was over the top decadent!"

  • "Excellent sushi. Perhaps one of the best I've had in Denver. Just enough options without being overwhelming."

  • "We went for a birthday celebration dinner. The food is consistently good here and the sushi is fantastic. Nice, modern atmosphere, but a bit loud."

  • "Sasa always delivers when it comes to serving fresh and vibrant food. Only top quality ingredients are used and I am always pleased with their selection. The only downside to my visit this time was the service. Very slow to put in our order and found myself asking for things twice or waiting for long periods of time to order more food, drinks, etc."

  • "Food is never disappointing. The servers were a bit confused trying to give us something we didn't order, but other than that I have always had a great experience. I highly recommend it!"

  • "Real happy with the diverse menu for non sushi eaters. Makes having a large group easy to satisfy. We didn't valet, but he still walked the girls to the door and held it open for them."

  • "We went on a recommendation from someone I met on the plane. This was an incredible find. Cant say we left a bite on any dish including the sauces. I wouldnt call this a typical "Japanese" resturant but more of an Asian bistro. I recommend this to everyone, parking was right next door and in a very busy area, this is an added bonus. We already have our selections for the next trip, what to try everything on the menu."

  • "Great food but was expecting to pay $30 per person (from opentable recommendation). We ate light only ordering two rolls, an appetizer and each of us consumed two drinks and the tab ended up over $100. Again, great food, but definately not worth the price."

  • "Sasa is great - been there a few times before and it always impresses. Great selection of high-quality fish. I do wish they hadn't stopped serving the Foie Gras Oysters. Dueto the price I imagine few ordered it but speaking as someone who has, it's a delicacy that belongs at a place like Sushi Sasa."

  • "Prior to my last visit my impression of sushi sasa (based on 6 or so visits) was they had great sushi, reasonable prices (for high quality fish), attentive, friendly and low key service and overall a great experience. My last visit however was the opposite. Missed items (edamame- no big deal and when inquired brought at no charge but cold and overlooked), missed but charged for items (offered to make, we opted out, removed from bill), but sashimi plate not fresh, sloppy presentation with thick,, inconsistent and waaaay over sauced. The rest was ok, not great. Felt like I was at a mid-range strip mall turn and burn sushi joint. it just tasted...old."

  • "It was spectacular, we ate downstairs so we could enjoy the Happy Hour pricing, the service could have been a tad better, she forgot some of our Sushi, but all in all it was great, I will be back."

  • "If you make a reservation, make sure to note that you want to be seated upstairs (although I didn't get to experience the upstairs region, it could not have been worse than downstairs) When we were first seated downstairs, we noticed that there are five tables in a tiny area. Three tables for two people each were on one side of the room, and two larger tables on the other After we were seated, it was so loud that we could barely talk to each other. We had to wait for other tables to stop talking just to hear one another. Although the two couples next to us were very friendly, we were thinking this would be a more romantic setting. Honestly, I would have rather just ate dinner at home The food was mediocre, the fish was slightly warm"

  • "Nigiri sushi was excellent, as always. Sauteed calamari and veggies were very good. Dessert was OK, coffee was weak, Service was a bit slow this time. Service was excellent other times we have eaten there."

  • "Sasa is absolutely my favorite sushi spot in Denver. Having moved from NYC under two years ago, Sasa has been a lifeline to this sushi lover. I have had absolutely flawless experiences every time I've scored a seat at the bar. Sadly, it is always a very different experience at the tables. The service is always slow, and sometimes the sushi doesn't even taste as outstanding as it usually does. The chefs are of the highest caliber (including the owner, of course) and charming to interact with. I only wish I could say the same for the servers. Ours was pleasant enough but slow. Now, I only really like to go by myself or when it's just my husband and me so that we can sit at the bar and enjoy a fabulous experience."

  • "Noise level was a bit much. Some of the twenty-somethings were a bit over the top and the tables are very close together, so if someone is talking obnoxiously loud, it has potential to ruin the experience. However, the wait staff was very nice, the food was quite tasty, however, I had the bento teriyaki chicken and the chicken was at best luke warm; but it had good flavor. Plus, most people have Sushi at "Sushi Sasa" so perhaps this is not their area of expertise. But it was still decent."
