Diner Reviews
  • "St. Clair once again hits on all marks. This visit brought a new wrinkle of a plate of food not prepared properly, but the wait staff took care of the problem instantly. Steaks were cooked to perfection, plus we brought a person who has never dined here before and he stated that he had the best prime rib ever. From the wine, food, service & ambience, St. Clair never disappoints."

  • "The food is pretty great here. Comfort foods with a twist, excellent sized portions, I ate the half size pasta and left full. I am not a huge fan of NM wines - I find them too sweet, but they have some great reserve reds that hit the spot. So you can find a wine for just about anyone here."

  • "I was given a gift certificate to St Clair for Christmas, and have been there twice now. Both times the food was excellent, the service attentive but not intrusive. I don't drink wine, but my wife does, and she loves their wines and selections. They have trios of wines in small glasses that make excellent samplers. I'm a wheat beer drinker (do not like the taste of non-wheat beer), and they have a nice wheat from Marble Brewery. My only complaint is the noise level, and this is just a given if you go here. There is a bar section close to the main dining area with live music, and there are often large parties in the back room, so if you want a quiet dining experience, go somewhere else."

  • "Relaxed atmosphere with a varied customers. Service was great, the server was warm, friendly, and very accommodating as I had a food allergy and the substitutions were great! Homemade cheeses and wine pairings were well done. House specialty of chicken melted in your mouth. Desserts were huge and delicious."

  • "Friends getting together to chat and catch up...was not aware there would be a band...other than the noise it was a great night. Our table was way too close to the music to have enjoyable conversation. Will go back if there is not music...nothing against music, just not what we wanted this night."

  • "We came here expecting a respectable wine list and exceptional food. The wine list was limited to their own private brands. We are not wine snobs but the wine was average at best. The eats were not what we would consider bistro caliber. The selections were what you may find at any chain restaurant. We decided on the prime rib since it looked more appetizing than the rest of the menu. It was a generous portion and was very good. The sides, mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies, were cold which surprised us because the meal came very quick. That said we would recommend St Claire's with limited expectations and reasonable prices."

  • "The food wasn't the only thing delicious but their selection of wines were amazing. If you're planning on enjoying with a group of friends, on a date....a special occasion, this would be your ideal place to eat. Definitely a place I'd like to go again very soon!"

  • "This restaurant was very busy because it was Valentine's day. We visited in the evening. This would be a great place for lunch or brunch. I wouldn't recommend it for romantic setting. TVs are a distraction, dining area too brightly lit, their Valentines special menu was disappointing with very little choices. Server and management were awesome though."

  • "They did an excellent job for Valentine's day. Good food and a very nice selection of wine. They special event fixed menu price even included a glass of wine of your choice off their complete wine listing. It is always a good choice for food and drinks."

  • "so ... 'energetic' is the buzz word for a totally obnoxious table of diners seated @ ten ft from out party of six in the covered patio. they were raucous and totally unmindful of the other guests. when i finally - and with a great deal of politeness - approached them and asked very graciously to try to keep it down, i was all but ignored. the waitstaff just shook their heads and rolled their eyes with all this. look ... we knew it's a saturday night and we expected conversations all around us, but this was out of hand. please see if there's a way to address this."

  • "We have been to this eatery several times..mostly for lunch, though. Dinner was a treat, the waiter was fantastic, though he could have waited a few beats after getting to the table, so we could stop talking, but the "joint was jumping" so, I can look past it --this time. The food was well prepared and delicious, everyone got exactly what they ordered and the temp was perfect! Nothing ruins a dinner like cold food that should be hot. But the place where St. Clair establishes dominance is with their extensive wine list...wow! Perfect accompaniment for each selection and spot on for the palette. Well done, St. Clair, well done, and thanks."

  • "The hostess was horrible, but luckily, that was made up by the server, who was outstanding. This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and suffered the unfriendliness of the hostess staff, and will probably pick other places in the future before dining here again, simply because there is no excuse for such behavior. The waiter was outstanding, and so much so, that we left him an extra large tip. The manager walked past our table (of 12) numerous times, but never even stopped once to say hello or to see how we were doing. He seemed to have the same lack of emotion as the hostess, so maybe they are related. Either way, while the food and drink were decent, I see a pattern of unfriendly service here, and don't care for it."

  • "I was in town on a business trip and found the St. Clair Winery to be an amazing dining experience. The food, wine and service was exceptional. We happened to be there on an evening when there was entertainment which added to the fun evening. I enjoyed a steak which was flavorful and tender. My business associate had a pasta dish and raved about the wonderful flavor. If you haven't been to the St. Clair Winery, don't wait to try it."

  • "We had a 6:45 reservation, got there, was told the table was being bussed. Had to remind them we were still there at 7..Finally got seated. This is a winery, they had to go FIND a wine list which took 10min. We ordered the wine flight w/cheese app, when it finally arrived, no cheese and 3 diff wines than what the server told us would be served. One of the glasses barely had any in it, we had to ask to have it filled like the other 2....We ordered the pomegranate pork loin salad, I asked for dressing on the side, server said it comes dressed but it's very light. There was sooo much dressing I couldn't eat it and the pork was dry. The back of the booth we sat in was broken, so when folks were set behind us, we were launched forward..."

  • "This is probably one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food and service were excellent and it was not overly expensive, with plates from $13-25. This would be a great place for a special occasion or just a normal night out."
    Dined on 1/11/2014
  • "Thank goodness that there was live music on the heated patio the night I was there--if there hadn't been, I would have totally not liked this experience. The wine flight I tried was really thin for "robust reds," the service was pretty slow, the food kind of just plunked on the plate. Only food highlight of the night was the brownie."

  • "We went for NewYears eve. We made reservations in advance so when we arrived we were quickly seated. I wasn't to fond of where we sat , it was in the very back. I faced a wall all night. The menu list was limited due to fact it was NY Eve , I went with the Salmon, delish! the red potatoes were just a bunched up mush. Not pleasing to the eye. My GF ordered the lemon chicken, same potatoes! blah. We got side salads, and a Nosh Platter for our appetizer! our waitress was either new or NOT well informed of what was being served. She was nice overall! I don't believe we will be back for NY EVE again but any other night yes! Because they do have wonderful pasta dishes & steak!"

  • "I love St. Clair but New Year's Eve was not a plesent experience. We ordered from the limited menu. I ordered the chicken dish and my husband ordered the prime rib. The waitress brought out the samon and the prime rib. When I pointed out that mine was wrong she came back and said it would get corrected. Thirty minutes later I received my correct dish but my husbands had started to get cold since he was trying to be polite and wait for me to get my dish. The chicken was pretty good until I bit into a chicken bone. We had to ask three or four times for the waitress to bring out the wine we ordered. It was definitely not worth the $100/per couple charge. We will not go back for next years New Years celebrations."

  • "Have had lunch several times and it was uniformly excellent. This was a party of eight including two children on Saturday night. We had not anticipated the noise level, which was so uncomfortable that one end of the table could not hear the other. Food was still wonderful, but had we known about the evening din we would have gone elsewhere."

  • "We had a good time. Based on price, service and location this is a decent spot. The wine list is limited but reasonable and the wines are okay but ask for a taste before ordering a bottle. Some are rather sweet. The food is simple but well prepared. Service is without flaw (attentive but not intrusive). I would recommend this to someone staying in Albuquerque but I would not travel to the town in order to dine at this establishment."

  • "Have enjoyed their Thanksgiving 'uber-buffet' at least three or four times and never fail to find the utmost holiday dinning experience. The food selection is vast and cooked to perfection. If you love good wines, this is the place to dine; their selection and quality is very good. Since I often dine alone, this restaurant is a great find for a 'no-prep' holiday experience."

  • "Service was slow. One server comes by (Shaun) and offers to take our drink order while our server (Adrian) would come back and take our food order. Shaun came back with our drinks. The waiting started again. About 20 minutes goes by. We're watching all the tables around us being offered bread, wines etc. I get fed up and walk over to a lady named Anastacia. She was standing near the kitchen doors not doing much. I mentioned to her we've been here for over 30 minutes and have not met our actual server, no one has taken our order and no one has offered any wines. She apologized and went to the kitchen. I sat back down, and Shaun comes back as offers to serve us for the evening."

  • "My family went to dinner at St. Clair's on Saturday night and we had a lovely time. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We were seated at a table in the back, in a small section separate from the main 2 dining areas. It was the perfect spot because we could enjoy each other's company. The food was wonderful!"

  • "We met here for a dinner and drinks. A little noisy as there was a large group of happy women across from us but it was a very pleasant experience otherwise. Great food and service."

  • "Our server was very friendly and professional. The food was delicious, although my portions were rather small compared to a similar dish I had there the time before. Wonderful selection of wines."

  • "3 girls up front, none communicating with the other! As a result the 1 that sat us thought we didn't have reservations. She sat us directly in front of the band because the other tables were for customers with reservations. After explaining that we did, she had us go upfront and wait for a table. We were sat at a tiny table. Our elbows hit the wall every time we moved our arms. We ordered cheese & wine pairing & were asked for the menus back. When told we need them to order dinner, we were told, oh your gonna order more? with a confused look on her face. We received the cheese and no wine. Then the wine and no explanation of what the cheeses were. Then the card explaining the cheese but they were not in the correct order."

  • "We introduced friends to the St. Clair Winery & Bistro the other night at dinner - they loved it and will be back with friends in the future. My husband and I come here every few months for special occasions - birthday, anniversary, visitors, etc. The food is great, they are very friendly to special needs diets (I have Celiac so must have gluten-free preparation). When the weather is nice we love to sit on the patio and listen to the live music - and of course, drink their amazing wines."

  • "So I found this place using opentable because I am first time visitor to the city, My dining companions wanted burgers. I was more in the pasta mood, but in the end also went with a burger. It is not too far (but not walking) from the convention center with plenty of off street parking. The waiter as attentive and gave us a all a taste of the featuerd wine. The burger with cream cheese, jaleopeno (spelling?) and toasted onions is a winner. You can ask them to hold down the peppers. While personally not a big fan of steak fries, these were good.If I lived in NM, I would go for a return visit. Good place to go if you need to talk without having shout."

  • "We have been to St. Claire's winery several times and have always been so pleased with the whole experience, so that's why we were so displeased this time. Small portion sizes and I'm not a big eater. My husband was still hungry when we left. Waiter was not helpful in suggesting a wine. I do have to say that the salads were very good and the quality of the food was good, except for way too much garlic on veggies."

  • "Having stayed at the Hotel Albuquerque, this was a convenient walk within a block of the hotel. The environment was pleasant, we were warmly welcomed. A good choice of wines to pair with some great food. I would recommend to anyone finding themselves in Albuquerque for the night!"
