Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I have eaten at the Solera numerous times. We have never been disappointed in the selection, presentation, and most important, the flavor of the food. We recommend this restaurant to everyone."

  • "I found out about this location thru Facebook. A relative had posted great things about the restaurant. We're from Wyoming and always looking for great places to eat. The atmosphere was great, our server, Joe was awesome and the food and wine was delicious. I would and have already recommended Solera to other people and would definitely go again."

  • "Amazing selection. Wonderful food. Fabulous wine. Second visit even better than first!"

  • "Solera is typically a stand out for us and we planned a special birthday dinner. Despite noting our dietary restrictions in the reservation (which has ben a standard practice at this very restaurant), the server seems surprised, even slightly put-off that we had one dinner ordering off the menu. The waiter even assured us the chef had prepared 3 raw vegan courses (and we ordered accordingly); yet only 1 was delivered to the table. We had to ask for water on two different occasions, his wine recommendation was sub-par, and he extended no gesture, or even acknowledgement of the birthday occasion. Maybe an off night, but disappointing for sure."

  • "My boyfriend and I were looking for a new spot to try out during Denver Restaurant Week. We wanted something mainly close to where we live. We scrolled through the list of options & came across Solera. I didn't even THINK to research anything about this place. From the moment we walked in, we we're pleased. My waiter was great from begining to end. I was blown away by the food over all, one combination word to put it... AWESOMELY AMAZING."

  • "East Colfax isn't where people normally look for a fine dining experience, but Solera is worth the trip. We've had a wonderful experience on each of our several visits to the restaurant. We started this most recent visit, as we often do, with a selection of meats and cheeses. They are always a crowd pleaser. My wife loves the paella, and usually sticks with that dish. I like to try different items, so this time I went with the pork chop. And my mother ordered the salmon. We were all very happy with our meals, and appreciated the guidance of our knowledgeable server. We will certainly be back."

  • "We went for Sunday brunch. We were among the few groups there, so you might think we'd get good service. Actually, the server was okay overall, but when I told him my poached eggs were cold, instead of offering to replace them, he said, "I'm shocked. I saw the chef take them right out of the water and put on your plate." Well, I'm glad he was shocked, but I'm the one eating cold eggs. Very "shocking" he didn't take my word for it. Am I supposed to offer him a bite so he can verify that my food isn't as it should be? Won't be back."

  • "This is a nice restaurant for a special occasion but the food is a bit over priced."

  • "As always, a wonderful experience. Can't wait for the patio to open. Don't miss the seared scallops and truffle Mac and cheese."

  • "I very rarely write a negative review and it pains me to write this because its frankly very bizarre and not something I have ever encountered before. I went to this restaurant for the first time in February and when the bill came they tried to bill me $80 for the $50 bottle of wine that we had. The waiter acted like he had no idea how that could happen but after some discussion they went and fixed it. The food was good so in spite of that I decided to go back with my daughter last night. Believe it or not they tried a similar stunt again. They attempted to bill us $14 for our salads instead of the $11 clearly shown on the menu as well as their online menu. Bottom line, be sure to check your bill before paying"

  • "It had been some time since we had visited Solera and after this most recent dinner, we will definitely return soon. We began dinner with a bib lettuce salad which in our estimation was perfect. My wife had the Paella which we both agreed could use improvement. Not bad, but It was too moist and did not have sufficient sea food and poultry in the mix. Too much rice in proportion to the entire dish.. Having had Paella in Spain and South America, we would not rate this dish exceptional. However, I had the chicken dish and it was superb. Frequently, this dish has flavor on the surface but bland inside. This dish at Solera was flavorful to the last bite. Dessert was equally enjoyable. The service was prompt & courteous without being intrusive."

  • "I was meeting a former restaurant-owner from East coast, so expectations were high. He loved the place - loved the tapas - thought everything was good except the fact that both the wines we ordered by the glass were out. ????? Should have back-up plan for something like that."

  • "This was my 3rd time at Solera. We had small plates and really enjoyed them! Solid food and pretty good wine list. I will keep going back!"

  • "Went for brunch and the food was good and the menu offered a number of creative options. Very pretty interior and a nice patio that made you think you weren't even in the middle of the city. Friendly staff, too. We'll be back to try other items and lunch or dinner there."

  • "Ordered the scallops during Restaurant Week. 3 scallops were served on big bed of absolutely awful macaroni and cheese. Seemed like Solera didn't think it was masking enough money on meal so it loaded up the scallop dish with cheap filler macaroni which was bitter - sour tasting. My husband had the flank steak which was much better. I expected better of this restaurant so I was disappointed. When asked by the server how it was I made a face. She ignored it. Guess she didn't really want to know how it was."

  • "We took friends to Solera, who had never dined there before. It was the end of restaurant week - so the menu was limited - but everything was absolutely delicious. They've got new hard wood tables - with no table cloth or paper(which is what used to be on the tables) - so it gets very loud - difficult at times to have a conversation. The service was slow - but, unfortunately it often is - at Solera. However, the great food and wine make up for it!"

  • "We had a great dinner at Solera. What a happy find on the list of restaurants participating in 5280 week!"

  • "We felt like we were rushed through dinner…the waiter misunderstood my "salmon" and brought me "scallops". Everyone at the table had heard me order salmon. He checked his tab and told me that I had ordered the scallops but that he would take it back if he had to…I decided to eat the scallops so that I would not be eating after all my table was done with their meal. Will probably NOT go back to this restaurant!"

  • "My husband and I ate here for date night during Restaurant Week. The service is great. The ambiance is great. The wine list is fantastic. We have been here other times and hung out in the bar for appetizers and drinks. We always have a great time."

  • "My husband and I went for Denver Retaurant week. Ths wine list was good and the food was very good. The Truffle mac and cheese seemed to be the popular dish as you could smell the truffle oil upon entering the door. I enjoyed it but it was very rich and maybe a little to much truffle. It was cold out but the patio looked very nice. I will return to enjoy wine on the patio and some appetizers later."

  • "I went here during 5280 week. The food and service one seated was fine. The main issues were beforehand. First, I think we waited at least 20 minutes after our reservation before being seated. I'm sure it's hard to keep exact reservation times on event nights so I wasn't bothered by this in itself. What bothered me was being seated behind two parties that had both a later reservation time and arrived after us. The 4 person party made sense since a 4 person table opened up earlier but a couple that arrived after us with a later reservation was seated about 15 minutes before us. The owner was actually handling a lot of the front so I would especially expect more. It was almost insulting and I don't think I'll come here again."

  • "Dining at Solera is always fun! Their food is creatively prepared and delicious. The sea bass entree that we ordered was some of the best we've ever eaten. Our server, Kate, was most knowledgable in helping us make our food and wine selections. An added plus was that we had a chance to chat with chef/owner Goose Sorensen. All in all, Solera never disappoints and is a delightful dining destination."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times. It was not too crowded when we were there so the noise was manageable. The waiter was a bit distracted by a private party at the end of our dinner- he even sat down with them. We had to get his attention to pay the check. Other than that, a nice evening."

  • "Everything we ordered was wonderful! We loved our waiter also...highly trained in wines and recommended some great ones! Will go back over and over..."

  • "Very tasty small plates and a decent selection should accommodate most diners choices. Great wine selection. Price is comparable to other similar establishments. Reccommend the chefs choice on the salumi and cheese board and the warm kale salad. The sangria was dangerously good. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet during our visit but the proximity of the tables and wide open floor plan of the dining room certainly could become boisterous with the right crowd. Not an issue for me but it should be noted if you want the secluded romantic "stare in each other's eyes" kinda night."

  • "Love the paella although it is pretty spicy. The lamb shanks are huge and delicious. All three wine selections were excellent and reasonably priced."

  • "Solera is an amazing restaurant. My husband & I live in Park Hill and walk over to Solera for dinner a few times a year. It never disappoints and the waitstaff is fantastic. Also, the owner (Goose) is always onsite and stops over to our table throughout the night to check in on how we're doing. That is a true sign of someone who cares about their customers. I would recommend Solera every day of the week and twice on Sunday. If you have never been to Solera, then I would say you are missing out."

  • "A delightful restaurant with a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. We came in on a Saturday night right at opening for a light dinner before going to the Vintage Theatre which is fairly close by further east on Colfax. We had three tapas; mussels, peppers, and a wonderful calimari dish."

  • "Well curated menu featuring a choice of Tapas influenced small plates or traditional entrees. Their Thai style crispy calamari is their signature dish either as an entrée with a salad (Spanish style Caesar recommended) or shared as table entrée. Service was friendly and attentive."

  • "My friend and I recently discovered Solera, a little gem of a wine bar on Colfax. At our most recent visit, Brendan was our server, and he was fantastic! Very attentive and friendly, and he made excellent recommendations for us with respect to the wine. The food at Solera is excellent, with a changing menu that offers fresh, seasonal items. It's worth going just to have their aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil with bread from Grateful Bread bakery. I enjoyed the warm hearts of kale salad, served with hazelnuts and, I think, dried cherries. We both had the sea bass - superb! Solera has a decent wine list and it isn't difficult to find a good wine to go with whatever you are eating. I will definitely be going back again soon."
