"My wife and I spent $300 for dinner and wine yet I was still hungry enough that I could have stopped for a burger on the way home. The bison main course gets you about 6 small slices of meat, one very small triangle of raisin panade and a few baby vegetables. The food was OK but did not knock our socks off, the portions were small and prepared just alright(the bison that our companion ate was very over done). This is the second time I've been to Rouge and walked away with the same feeling both times (this is true for our companions also). I am afraid it will be the last. There is too much competition in Calgary for average food at that price point."

"We did the tasting menu and it was fantastic! My dining partner loves fine dining but a bit of a fussy eater. He enjoyed for the most part. Service was impeccable and waiter did things that we have never seen before. Overall impressive!"

"This was our first dining experience at Rouge. My husband, had a mushroom salad and bison entre and he enjoyed his meal very much. I had the apple soup and the halibut entre but was not as impressed. I found the soup somewhat bland and the entre, even the vegetables, very "oily". The server, was very good, but we thought the meal was rather rushed. We arrived at 7:00 pm and we were finished our meal by 8:15 (wine, appetizer, entre, coffee). Perhaps guests could be given a choice of a "fast-paced"(perhaps suitable for theatre-goers) or a more leisurely meal when dinner is the focal point of the evening."

"As always, the food was spectacular. The service perfect..friendly,helpful, unobtrusive. This is perfection. I am not a fan of old houses, but this location is so lovely. We will be back again and again."

"I had been to Rouge before, and was really happy to enjoy again a great dining experience. We took the 6 course menu. It was delicious from beginning to end. Different flavours and texture. I was surprised that the foie gras was served with some fruits, and crunchy oats. It was delicious.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating!"

"We had the chef's tasting menu recently at Rouge. A fantastic, if rather pricy, option. The range of food, flavour combinations, and attention to detail was fantastic. They were even able to accommodate my dairy intolerance without missing a beat. Excellent, knowledgable and friendly wait-staff too. The restaurant is broken into smaller rooms, which makes the experience both quite intimate for small groups, but also suitable for larger groups who can get a whole room to themselves. Combine some of the best food Calgary has to offer with top notch service in a delightful and charming heritage house by the Bow River and you have an experience that is hard to match. Except maybe in summer when you eat out on the patio. Highly recommended."
