A word from Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.

Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.

At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

  • "This restaurant was a great stop for us driving from the Denver Airport up to summit county. Great food, atmosphere, service and R/O water. Our waiter gave us the tip of filling our water bottles at their restaurant on Concourse C after through security. We had lamb burgers with a tasty local ketchup made with cumin available at Savory Spice."

  • "Root Down is always good! This was our 4th visit here. If we lived in CO I am sure we would come here at least once a month. You can't go wrong with any of the food. The tapas are the way to go. They truly are made for sharing. And if there aren't enough sliders on the plate to share, the food server will suggest to order more. It's one of those meals where every time you take a bite of food you go, "hmmmm!" Drinks are great and if you're really into trying new drinks they have some unique choices. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. Love, love, love this place!"

  • "Great food, but wait time for main course was about a half hour. This left my wife with that time to see the 3 courses brought to the next table and to watch all the hubbub in the prep area behind our table. The table location was about the worst in the place as it was on a corner isle as the patio was cleared for inclement weather an we were bumped over and over again. Food may have taken longer for the special or due to being gluten free, just seemed like forever."

  • "I only made the reservation 2 days ahead and they were able to accommodate a late night table on the patio with the perfect spot to watch the coors feild fireworks! The place was full but the service from both the server and the host was spot on and the food doesn't get any better! We ordered a lot but did not leave anything on our plate, we even ordered a second order of the lamb burger sliders because they were so good. Could not have asked for a better night! We will be back and if you have never been, you are missing out on a gem in a very up and coming area! *only mentioned the noise level was loud because of the fire works, normally a very relaxed yet busy atmosphere where you can still enjoy great conversation"

  • "Um, thank God for gluten free people, because they inspired the almond flour/buttermilk pancake to be born. Yum. Did not like the Root Down eggs benedict with quinoa. It was served cold. Quinoa was a gloppy mess. Still worth it though, you know, because of the pancake that I stole from my buddy's plate. Even though the place was crazy busy at 1 on Sunday, holiday weekend, the staff was super nice and all went well."

  • "Brought my wife here for a romantic dinner. The wine was organic, so was the food, and everything tasted spectacular. Even the bathrooms were forward thinking when it came to recycling eater sources used. I'm impressed and will definitely be back again as soon as reservations are open; plan accordingly, as reservations go quickly!"

  • "I made reservations for 5 people for 8:30pm on a Monday. Upon our early arrival, we waited until 9:00pm to be seated. The hostess constantly told us they were waiting for a table to clear for us. Once we were seated, it took about another 15 minutes for a server to come over and address us. The server told us he was not our server, but just came over to take drink orders. Every time we ordered drinks, it took about 10 minutes for the drinks to come. I was extremely disappointed in the service of the restaurant. Although the service was very disappointing, the food was good. Not amazing, just good. The drinks were really good-best part of the meal. Also, this restaurant is not equipped for large groups. Very tight space, with small tables."

  • "My husband and I ate here for their special 4th of July dinner. The food was yummy and they are upfront about asking for allergies or food restrictions. However, we did tell our waitress that we had a gluten allergy and she brought us a dinner plate with salmon and pasta and didn't care to notify us that there was gluten on this plate. The drinks were very good, however, a bit expensive."

This amazing meal already compliments they're spectacular menu. it's a travesty this only happens once a month but I guess that gives everyone a chance to try the rest of the menu!   • "We have been here before, but had excellent food and service so returned for our anniversary dinner. We had a table right on the edge of the outdoor patio so it was perfect. We decided to do a big plate each which were both excellent (roasted chicken and salmon). The soup and salad we ordered were also excellent (carrot and red pepper soup and the roasted beet salad). The drinks were also good. I had a strawberry celery drink that was unusually, but very good. Then even brought us a dessert for our anniversary. I would recommend this restaurant to all."

  • "My overall experience at Root Down was fantastic. I went with a group of four and we were able to sit on the patio for dinner. Even though it was a Monday night, it was packed. We shared the about 5 shared plates and everything was delicious and filling. The favorites were the lemon ricotta gnocchi with the poached egg on top and the Colorado ranch meatballs, but there were no complaints about the other food. The only minor criticism I have is the service was not quite as spot on as the food. It took our server a while to come over and take our drink order and our first shared plates showed up before our drinks did. But again, overall it was a great experience. We will definitely be going there again."

  • "Feeling a little let down as we were very excited to try Root Down. We ordered drinks right away, but it took forever to get them (including the server's return to let us know they were all out of Ketel One, Grey Goose AND Belvedere). The ginger beer in my Moscow Mule seemed flat and lacking in taste. A diner at the next table agreed. We both told the waiter. He said it was probably the bottom of the keg, but never offered to bring us a new one from the fresh keg. A table that ordered their food after us received their food long before us. The waiter was sorry, but that was it. The food was good, but not as spectacular as I was expecting. I'd like to give it another try to see if this was just a fluke. Loved the atmosphere of the place."

  • "I love Root Down and have never had a bad experience here. Service is always top-notch! That being said the brunch menu is not my favorite in town. I had a hard time choosing a menu item because nothing really appealed to my tastes, which is odd because I have never had that problem with their lunch or dinner menu. The bottomless mimosas are a great deal, but with so many other fantastic options in Denver I will probably just hold off returning for brunch until they switch out their menu."

  • "The ambiance was perfect for this neighborhood restaurant - unique and good for conversation. It was a bit loud, so wouldn't be good for my Dad who's already hard of hearing. Selections on the menu are different and good for the food allergist. The food was delicious, I had the veggie burgers and they had a sweet and spicy taste - gourmet portion with lovely sweet potato fries."

Veg Sliders, Devils, Brulee were also good. Meatballs and Kale salad were ok. Kashmiri Chicken (way too salty) and Coconut Fizz (dull flavor) were a total disappointment. Service was good, but not great."

  • "This was truly an amazing dining experience. Every bite of food we ate was delicious. We had the antelope special and the gnocchi. The sweet potato fries were to die for with their curry lime dipping sauce and the devils on horseback for appetizer were so tasty. We also had the croissant bread pudding and chocolate semi fredo. Both delish. The service was fantastic as well. We liked it so much we came back for brunch the next day and had the tater tot benedict and the steak and eggs. So wonderful and the bottomless blood orange mimosas are a must have. I can't say enough about this place! Want to eat there every day if I could!"

  • "We love Root Down, we highly recommend it for brunch however the last two times we've been for brunch we have waited 45 minutes or more our food. One time they apologized and provided some free snacks. This time the waiter kept just making small talk and was very strange and awkward."

  • "We had heard about this place, and lucked out getting a reservation a few days in advance for brunch on a Saturday. Root Down lived up to its reputation in every way. I had a fried egg sandwich, which sounds ordinary, but the dish that was served was anything but. A perfect croissant housed sliced tomato, avocado, cheese, greens, and a fried egg in such a way that I'd never seen before. It was a delicious blend, and I had to slow down and savor every bite. My husband had the short rib and egg tacos, a companion had the veggie burger sliders. They were both extremely pleased with their choices as well. The service was great; we never ran out of water or coffee. The restaurant was buzzing with people of all ages, all having fun."

  • "I had been here before for dinner and came with my mom for brunch on Saturday morning and it was awesome! They had complimentry valet parking and the attendant was very kind and helpful. We were seated right away and the service througout the meal was excellent from the bus boy to the servers. The server made excellent recommendations and we were not disappointed! The meal was delicious as was the coffee and mimosas. The view of downtown Denver was very nice from our seats on the patio. We will definitely be back!"
