"Lo Stella" Ristorante is the oldest and most successful family owned restaurant operation in Portofino, Italy. It is one of the country’s most renowned historic family owned and operated restaurants for more than 167 years. Now, downtown Denver is home to this historically famed Italian restaurant, led by the 8th generation family member, Alessandro Polo.
At " Lo Stella" Ristorante you will find the original recipes from previous generations like Pesto sauce, Bolognese sauce, marinara, fish ravioli, vegetable ravioli, pappardelle, tagliatelle, pizza and a lot of Colorado meat and fish products cooked in our "ligurian" style.
Lo Stella Ristorante has also had 25 years of great success in Tokyo, Japan until 2013 when Alessandro decided to move to Denver to open this authentic Italian Restaurant.

This was our second visit, and it was good as the first. We had a very early dinner, and had the place to ourselves. The wait staff was attentive without being overly so, and the food was delicious. We had the burrata and prosciutto starter - it was amazing! I had the bolognese, my boyfriend had the zucchini and shrimp pasta, so delicious! I love the panna cotta, it is the best I've ever had, and the tiramisu is legit. Do yourself a favor and try it!

Delightful little restaurant. Lovely food especially the incredibly fresh tasting pea soup and the fish ravioli which I’ve never seen before on a Denver menu. We’ll be back.

Other tables not cleared. Candles not lit. Just no attention to details of ambience that the restaurant used to offer. Disappointing

I love going to Lo Stella it’s like visiting friends they always remember me I’ve been coming here since they opened and never had a bad meal all the ingredients are fresh and delicious I had arugula salad with fresh tomatoes wonderful, especially with the their bread and olive oil, next dish was tagliatelle with shrimp and zucchini tossed with saffron so light and delicious add some red pepper flakes for added flavor. ❤️ finally we also split Chicken Melanaise with cremini Mushrooms and mozzarella cheese cubes. Even after all that food I felt fine it wasn’t heavy or rich just light and memorable.

If you want their squid ink pasta you need to request it a few days early-it is so worth it though!

We had a fine supper in a great atmosphere, and great service. I had the trout special and it was really good. We'd go again!

The tricolor salad is excellent if you like arugula and mushrooms. It is large enough to share with two people. My wife had the tagliatelle della "Nonna Laura" and the bolognese sauce was very good. A larger portion and my wife took the remainder home for another day. I had the Spaghetti allo scoglio which was wonderful and a generous portion. Lots of clams, mussels, calamari and a few shrimp with spaghetti in a nice red sauce. I highly recommend this dish if you like and can eat shell fish. Finally the wine from Sardinia, Cannonau Di Sardegna was also excellent and a nice alternative to wines from Tuscany and Piemonte regions of Italy. Overall, a great dinner and the restaurant was not crowded as we went on a Tuesday evening. This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Denver. We go there regularly.
