Diner Reviews
  • "Our party of four was seated promptly at a window table that we had requested. The waiter was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and non-intrusive. It was too early in the season to sit outside which we really enjoy but the experience was still a pleasant one!"

  • "Had another great dining experience a the Pine Tavern. We met some friends for dinner and decided on one of our favorite places. Food was amazing as was the service. Hot scones with honey butter was a treat!! Wine list by the glass has minimal choices with some a bit pricey for the quality. The Willamette Valley Vineyards Founders' Reserve Pinot Noir was $11 per glass.....but yummy! My salmon was perfectly cooked and the prime rib got rave reviews. Desserts were all wonderful. Our waitress was awesome as well!! We will definitely keep this place on our short list of really great restaurants!"

  • "We asked for a "quiet table for two" and that's just what we received...a beautiful table in the back corner of the restaurant with a view of Mirror Pond. Drew, our waiter, was quite attentive and well informed of the day's specials and the available wines. The food was very good and the portions were filling but not overwhelming. The scones and honey butter are to die for..."

  • "We had a very pleasant dinner & visit with old friends in the dining room. Jason, our waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable. Bartender very friendly, made us feel at home. Dinner was very good. Great view from window table. The Pine Tavern IS Old Bend, the way we like it."

  • "We went for a special occasion (26th anniversary) and asked for a booth which we got, we got there early and were able to get our table early which was nice because we were starving! We had drinks, horderves and dinner and it was excellent. Our server was excellent as well."

  • "While the menu doesn't have anything on it you haven't seen many times before, the quality of the food is pretty high, the service is friendly, if not always super quick, and the ambience is warm and happy. A Bend classic that won't leave you hungry or break your budget."

  • "Perfect evening experience for almost anyone. Great wine list, knowledgable staff and the food is superb. Quiet, low light dining with great ambiance. Beautiful scenic view of Mirror Pond and would be nice for outdoor dining in the summer."

  • "Nice restaurant. This was my second time eating at the Pine Tavern (other time was about 8 years ago). Food was good and the portion nice but a little overpriced as was the wine (glass and bottle)."

  • "The staff was friendly and the food was good. Bar to diner service was a bit slow as the bar got busy, but overall had a good time. Very nice restaurant, would definitely recommend it."

  • "We dined at the Pine Tavern on our wedding night and decided it was a great place to celebrate our 35th anniversary. Excellent decision! The food was delicious and our server was attentive to our needs. Maybe a little too close to a louder group near us, but overall we loved our meal. Thank you!"

  • "The atmosphere, THE TREES, fresh snow out the window making an awesome scene, the food, OMG those SCONES are the best, drinks, dessert and most of all our adorable server K T made our special night perfect. One of the must visit restaurants in Bend!"

  • "We had a nice dinner 2 prime ribs, 1 halibut, 1 chicken marsala. All of it tasted great as did the scones. We had a bottle of great wine and good conversation overlooking the Deschutes River."

  • "Went there for our daughter's birthday. All three of us had the prime rib and it was excellent. Our server, Justin, was very attentive to our requests and came back at the appropriate times to check on us. The scones are still a great change to the usual bread or rolls you get elsewhere."

  • "Great food and great service. The pine tree in the middle of the restaurant makes for a very interesting conversation piece. The wine list had a number of excellent wines to choose from."

  • "We went to Pine Tavern for Valentine's Day. To our surprise, they provided a serenade of four ladies, singing classic love songs. It was a very nice touch as was the long stem, white rose each woman received. The food was good--always is--not creatively outstanding, but good variety and portions. We also like the more quiet atmosphere where you can visit and talk. All in all, you usually can call it a success if you eat there."

  • "Had a reservation for Valentine's Day and walked right in even before the scheduled time. Our server, Ryan, was very friendly and eager to answer the multitude of questions launched at him during the evening. Food was great. Enjoyed the overall laid back atmosphere."

  • "My husband and I decided we would go to the Pine tavern restaurant for our Anniversary dinner and a for a late Valentine's. The waitress was amazing and so polite. The food was amazing and so was the views. My most memorable part of the evening was as the end of the night the waitress went of her way to bring us a dessert to share. Thank you very much to everyone at the Pine Tavern for making our Anniversary such a memorable night.. We will be back for sure.."

  • "My wife had the pork loin and it was much like a hockey puck as it was very difficult to cut or chew. I had the prime rib and it was very dry and flavorless. The service was great initially and then that was followed by intermittent periods of being totally ignored for up to 20 minutes at a time."

  • "Very good happy hour menu. Dinner was very good. I recommend the filet."

  • "I've been going to the Pine Tavern for over a decade and I'm so sad to say that it's just not the place that it used to be. Most recently I tried to order a burger in the restaurant area and was flatly told no, can't do it. Never mind the fact that dozens of people are eating them in the bar area, but you cannot have one in the restaurant. I was patiently given the explanation that "if we allowed you to do it, everybody would do it". I glanced around at the empty tables all around my party of 8 and wondered what on earth would be wrong with that if a few folks in the dining room wanted to order a burger? This is such an amazingly poor management decision that I'm afraid I'm done with the Pine Tavern because of it."

  • "Disappointed to find out one of the main entrees - the prime rib - was not ready at 5:00 pm. This is a daily dinner seating time, how can a main option not be ready? My spouse got the meatloaf instead. It was flavorful and a good portion for the price. I ordered the entree steak salad. At first, it was served without the meat. The server apologized, was gone for several minutes and then brought out the salad. Major disappointment. There were 2 grape tomatoes cut in half, less than 1/4 of an avocado, 4 red onion rings, a fair amount of fresh bacon crumbles, but no almonds. The dressing was good, but for $16 this was no entree salad. Not sure how many ounces of meat were there but it wasn't much. The marionberry cobbler was terrible."

  • "I took my boyfriend to the Pine Tavern for his Birthday dinner. I was so impressed with the food, the server and the whole feel. The food was excellent and the server timing on bringing the food was also excellent. I will go back soon."

  • "We've been going to the Pine Tavern for 24 years, and this is the only time we left without much of a tip ($4.00). We came for lunch at 12:30 on Friday. It wasn't crowded and our drinks and food came at a timely manner. But the salad looked like lawn clippings with ranch on it! I expected more out of the food and service from the Pine Tavern, it shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee. I don't know if we'll come back!"

  • "This is probably our 4th or 5th dining experience at the Pine Tavern Restaurant on New Year's eve and once again the menu selection, food preparation, and service was excellent. Obtaining a dinner reservation was easy and so convenient via Open Table. This is definitely a family tradition we look forward to during our visit to the Bend/Sunriver area after Christmas."

  • "The service was slow. It took 45 minutes to get drinks, we almost left. Some dinner dishes were amazing but another they ran out of and a third which was suppose to be a chicken pot pie was an expensive bowl of soup with a puff pastry on it which was as unappealing visually as it was to the palate. I was expecting because they are a tavern to have more pub style food but it was more expensive traditional fair. It was not what I was expecting."

  • "Went to lunch here with my Mom who is from Phoenix, AZ. She enjoyed the ambience as well as her club sandwich. Service and food were both top notch!! Slightly pricey but worth it for a special day out."

  • "We waited 20 minutes for our reservation at 6:45, two of the dished on the very limited menu were sold out, there were no clean wine glasses so our wine was served in water glasses, the "scones" were sweet soft rolls (not scones!), the ham was so dry I would never have served it to anyone, there was no trace of the feta cheese in the green bean side, the cranberry sauce was just a runny jam, the candied sweet potatoes were tasteless mush and our server must have known how bad the food was because he never asked us if things were ok. The table next to us was served noticeably larger portions! We are not complainers but this was an Epic Fail."

  • "Very nice service on Christmas Eve. We were seated promptly. We always look forward to the scones and we were not disappointed. Dinner was delicious, followed by a warm serving of marionberry cobbler."

  • "slow service, waiter had to apologize for every move he made, out of things at the 5:00 seating, only one bartender, drinks held up for 20 minutes but didn't take our order until after the drinks arrived so those around us were eating and had even left before our food came...I was so disappointed, this is a gem in the heart of Bend, what has happened???"

  • "We had a fantastic dinner the night before Christmas Eve. The duck and prime rib were wonderful, and our waiter was outstanding. We would recommend it to anyone for a nice evening out, but be sure to ge reservations."

  • "Besides other times during the year we have been coming to the Pine Tavern every year since 1980 for our anniversary dinner on December 22nd. It is always a pleasurable experience. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thanks for being here all these years. Ken & Julie Roberts"

  • "This is, I believe, the oldest continuously operated restaurant in Central Oregon. The food is always top notch, the service is like family and the setting is the best no matter what time of year. Seating in the back dining room has a wonderful view of Mirror Pond on the Deschutes River."

  • "Lunch with good friends. Wanted to catch up on each other's lives. Specifically chose Pine Tavern for a special lunch together. Server was a bit patronizing and seemed in a hurry to get us out. Our reservation was for 1:30 on a Saturday. They were NOT busy. But we felt rushed from the time we sat down. He brought the bill before one of us had even finished eating. My guess is he was done with his shift as soon as he got rid of us. It certainly felt that way. The food was great. Had the crab melt with fresh dungeness - yummy."
