This was our fourth visit to OE--chosen this time for a birthday celebration. Our guest of honor's birthday balloons were taken from her as we arrived and we were advised by the manager (gentleman with bow tie) that balloons were not allowed in the restaurant. We were told they would be put in a closet until we finished our meal. Enjoyed the sweet potato fries and browsing the gift shop but manager could work on his personal interaction skills with customers. Diplomacy & appearing to care would've gone a long way to improve a tense situation.

We were a table of 4, 3 of our group ordered the Kale Salad with Chicken, 1 of salads were delivered to the table without the chicken. All three salads were missing the pears that were listed in the salad components on the menu. It took the server 8 minutes to greet our table upon our being seated. The server never offered refills of our iced teas or sodas. The chicken on the salads was 'fake' grilled and was rubbery without any taste. The only thing Oxford Exchange has going for it is the ambiance, as service was poor and the food definitely not worth the price. Enjoying the ambiance once was enough, I will not be going back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I met at Oxford for lunch at 3:00pm on a Sunday, and it was buzzing with people, and truly gives you the sense that you are dining in place reserved for much bigger metropolitan areas like Chicago or New York city. The menu changes enough to keep it fresh, but always has several items that remain which are consistently very good. A club sandwich sounds boring, but this is the best one you will ever have; the grilled sourdough bread and avocado are unique to this rendition, and the portion is huge. Add in the sweet potato fries and you have a truly have an outstanding combination not to be missed.

Being a downtown local, I've had the opportunity to enjoy the OE atmosphere many a time. Regardless of whether you're enjoying a sit down lunch, or ordering a coffee to go, the ambiance of Oxford Exchange has always been a reason I return. Anytime you step in the door, you must peruse the stock of their shop and bookstore before you leave. On this particular visit, I brought my Mom here for the first time. Our four O'clock reservation seated us for afternoon tea, which was an enriching treat for us both. We enjoyed a quiet atmosphere and an eclectically tasty spread of finger sandwiches and sweets for us both. Quite impressed with their selection of teas, we each decided of differing rooibos blends, each pleasing in their own way.

  • Nice ambience, too loud and slow
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 10/10/2014
Food is a little off the wall, but some dishes are very good. Some taste a little weird to me because of the off-the-wall combinations (I had curry-cranberry goat cheese on my sandwich). The courtyard is beautiful, but the whole restaurant is a little too loud. We sat down at 12 and didn't order until 12:25. Food came out relatively fast and we always had what we needed (thanks to the nice water vases they leave on the table). Overall I would go back, but maybe not during lunch rush.

Oxford is a great lunch time favorite but make sure to have a reservation because it gets busy. There is indoor seating and atrium seating if you want a great view go for atrium seating...still inside but has a great view. Lunch was salad this time and it was pretty good, though a bit pricey for a salad that had no meat and just lettuce, but you are paying for the view. Its the place to be seen. If you want coffee and want to sit down get it at your table because usually every seat in the lounge area is taken by a college student studying (or not) sharing the wi-fi. Overall really nice. If you ever have time go for tea in the afternoon they sometimes do afternoon tea events.

My daughter has attended several parties at this eclectic venue hosted by her classmates at Berkeley, from Birthday parties to Graduation celebrations. She always comes home with nothing but great feedback regarding OE. I was pleasantly surprised when it was my turn to have brunch with her and my girlfriend. The food and drink presentations really added to our special moment. I would highly recommend it for brunch or a special occasion. It is obviously very popular. On the downside, we definitely felt rushed. Our server kept coming by to sweep up our table in order to accommodate guests who were waiting to be seated. We had to get to the airport, so we had no intention of spending any more than an hour for brunch.

We had Sunday Brunch at O.E. (wife, 3yo son and 1yo daughter) Great atmosphere, efficient service and friendly, welcoming hostess. We had reservations but were running late, I called ahead to cancel reservations but the hostess made adjustments and assured us we would be seated. It was a pleasant surprise as she encouraged us to come in and did exactly as she promised. She remembered our name and welcomed us and seated us immediately. It was great! Our waiter was friendly and provided great service. The food was good, although the menu did not have any kid friendly options. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend this restaurant to our friends!

After hearing rave reviews from friends, we had to check out Oxford Exchange ourselves. We ordered the Simple Sandwich and the Strawberry Short stack. He loved his sandwich but I found the shortstack heavy on the strawberry sauce. Next time I'd ask for the sauce to be on the side. Exploring the gift shop was the perfect finale to our brunch date.

What a lovely lunch my friend D and I enjoyed at the Oxford Exchange! We self-created a "tasting menu" by ordering a selection of appetizers and the vegetable curry, all of which we shared. I can't choose a favorite dish, I'm afraid--everything was brilliant. Our server was attentive and witty; the organic cocktails were delicious and flawlessly prepared; and best of all, because we'd chosen to sit in the atrium, we were treated to the calming white noise and visual spectacle of rain swirling across the glass roof above us throughout our meal. I'll definitely be back.

My husband and I had a terrible experience. We had family visiting from out of town and did not realize that they only served brunch on Saturdays. My husband is vegan and I am pescaterian that do not eat dairy or poultry. I know that they have vegan options. The brunch menu mostly included meat, dairy and poultry. When I asked our server if there was anything the kitchen can do to accommodate us or to order from the other menu and server said we can order salads and that I could order a sandwich that included eggs, cheese and bacon, which we do not eat. My husband was furious that he elected not to eat and we went elsewhere to get food. Our experience was horrible and the servers should be more informed on vegan diets.

Oxford Exchange is a brilliant concept ... especially unique for Tampa and the Bay area. Every time I came (I make it a habit at least once or twice a month from Sarasota!) I find something wonderful to eat or drink on the menu. This week's discovery was the MachaLemonaide and roasted brussel sprouts along with a crisp, chopped salad. For a vegetarian, pure delight! Stop by the book store or the gorgeous gift store and pick up a gift for self and others on your way out! Only slight complaint -- the noise factor. It's super popular and the acoustics don't work well. But it's still brilliant.

The food and service was amazing from our waiter. However I was a little disappointed in the seating. I came here for my birthday brunch and had asked to be sit outside. We were a party of only 4 and the request was made on the reservation. I was told when I got there they would try but bc I didn't pay extra, I was not guaranteed outside seating. I felt that the staff seating us were snooty and not friendly or genuine. Sad that that experience overshadowed the neat food and atmosphere for my birthday brunch.
