A word from Linger
Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.
Linger now offers lunch!!!! Tuesday - Friday 11:30 am till 2:30 pm.

Diner Reviews
  • "There are so many things we appreciate about Linger! Vegetarian and Vegan options (though we'd love to see more vegan options on the brunch menu), terrific food and a menu that always entices us to try something new. Add great service...we've eaten at Linger at least a dozen times and always had very friendly and enthusiastic service. We love the atmosphere too...a converted mortuary with some very whimsical nods to the past scattered throughout. You have to try the Mongolian BBQ Tofu Bun...our new favorite!! We also love the Carrot and Lentil Falafel. Valet parking, too, which is very, very handy."

  • "We loved being able to sample so many different flavors with small plates. Lauren, our server, was fantastic. She recommended drinks and dishes for us. She never seemed far away, yet was not intrusive or overbearing. The bar team gets major kudos as well, its always nice to have bartenders who know how to make a proper Boulevardier. We can't wait to come back."

  • "It was Sunday brunch, so it was crowded, which I expected. However, our server was really bad. She was sluggish, inattentive, not on the ball at all, had to be reminded of what we asked for, and in general just did not come off as being very sharp. You win some, you lose some. I'm not a complainer at restaurants, because I know serving is awful and soul-crushing and often just something you have to do to survive. I'll be back because I love the place, but I will be hoping to get luckier with service next time around."

  • "Started off with some very nice cocktails and continued with wonderful food. Their 36-hour short rib fried rice was phenomenal. We hit some traffic leaving work and arrived a bit after our reservation. Some staff would find this annoying, however, Linger staff treated us patience and a warm smile. Would definitely recommend."

  • "What a wonderful evening we had. I had a reservation and it was honored a little late and in the bar area which worked out fine. Given that, the host and our wait staff were VERY attentive and offered us a free appetizer as well as some very delicious caramels at the end of our meal. Additionally, I had a gift certificate for the Tueday Prix Fix menu and was allowed to order from the main menu as well. I love that the restaurant is flexible and that the food is always so delicious!"

  • "Linger for dinner is wonderful but I think the brunch should be left in the hands of Root Down."

  • "Super trendy, fantastic dinning. Smaller portions were not an issues since the food is so good. Love the morbid feel of the place. A very unique dinning experience."

  • "Brunch was absolutely amazing - I had the Chile Rellenos and the Coconut Lime Spritzer! Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals too! I would absolutely recommend to anyone - just make sure you have a reservation - yes, even for brunch!"

  • "We like trying new places and heard great things about Linger. We were a little concerned about finding something for everyone in our group to eat, we have a very picky eater in our group. She is always a good sport and goes along but to all our surprise she enjoyed the food as much as we did. It was fun trying the different items and sharing with each other. I did think out total bill was a bit high although I did not realize how expensive the wine was. Next time I may forgo the wine or only have one glass. All in all it was a great dining experience."

  • "Great food, wonderful service, excellent sommelier. So why won't I return? Just feel weird paying about a thousand dollars (10 people) for wine and whole bunch of appetizers. For a thou, I would rather of had a steak with all the trimmings. Nice place just not worth it to me."

  • "Linger does not fail for creative cuisine and a visually stunning interior. Just discovered the spacious roof area. Can't wait to hang out there in the summer."

  • "Linger is a food adventure into new tastes from a kitchen that sources locally with.bias to sustainable practices. There's something for everyone, so the place fils up. Service is knowledgable and friendly. The bar and wine list round out the experience with the same foodie sense of fun, creativity,"

  • "Thur nights are usually not so special, this Thurs was an exception! Met friends in town from NY for a birthday blast at Linger. It was the perfect evening. Waiter was knowledgeable but not overbearing, food was fabulous. None of us could pick our favorite because it was all so good! Sat and ate and talked and laughed for 3 hours. Good night."

  • "International street food-inspired menu that really knocks it out of the park with any and every selection. I can't stop coming back here. Highly recommend the Ginger Collins from the cocktail menu."

  • "We ate at Linger for brunch. The coconut fizz is a must try for a drink. We had the crispy chicken buttermilk bun and it was delicious. The hangover ramen was disappointing. It lacked flavor, which could not be made up for with condiments and the noodles were overcooked. The meat in it seemed cheap. I'd choose something else. The adobo pork benedict was great. It had one of the best hollandaise sauces we've had. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "We've been a fan of Lingers for some time, but have never had brunch there. Do not pass up the opportunity to join Lingers for brunch. The menu is creative, and the food delicious. It surpasses any brunch we've experienced in the Denver area - and can proudly claim that we are unofficial brunch experts!!"

  • "I made reservations for 2:15. They are open for brunch until 3:00. The waiter rushed us to get our food and drinks. Saying everything was shutting down. He was nice but anxious to leave which impacted our service. If they don't actually close at 3:00 and try to close early they shouldn't take 2:15 reservations. I will go here again and I would recommend this place. But I don't recommend a late brunch. And a positive note, the food is amazing."

  • "I like the street food concept, but I felt like everybody pushed a bit too hard for "two to three plates per person," and the pricing isn't really conducive to that idea. However, the food we got (one plate per person and one plate to split among the three of us, which worked out perfectly) was delicious! The atmosphere was a bit louder than I like, but I know lots of folks enjoy that. The patio had some great views, and I imagine it's pretty awesome in the summer when it's a bit warmer."

  • "This is such a great place! The food is incredible! You need reservations and you need to book them way in advance! It's noisy so don't bring your hard of hearing relatives."

  • "My husband and I have dined at Linger many times for dinner. This was our first brunch and I have to say, they continue to live up to our expectations. The food remains exceptional, the service is wonderful, and the ambience is always lively. We truly love this place!"

  • "I had not been to Linger but had heard lots about it and was eager to try it. I was underwhelmed. Each of our party of 4 (a friend's birthday lunch), enjoyed her meal. I thought the food was good, but hardly sensational. Our server was pleasant and efficient. When she noticed cards and gifts being opened, she promptly offered to bring a complimentary dessert. All said, it was an enjoyable occasion, but almost not worth the effort in trying to find a place to park, then trying to find the front door. In fact, if one of our group hadn't been there before, we might still be looking for the entrance."

  • "Outstanding food - exceptional flavors and presentation of all dishes. All four in our party were more than pleased with everything we ordered. We will return the next time we are in Denver."

  • "We have been trying to eat here for awhile and reservations were challenging. However, having said that it was well worth it. We arrived a bit early and enjoyed the last part of Happy Hour the mussels were amazing, as was the Posole, Bastilla. Wasn't a real fan of the sticky rice pudding the bourbon sauce really overwhelmed the dish far too strong for a dessert. We will return for the patio this summer."

  • "Food was pretty good, certainly imaginative, but not great-tasting. The BBQ beef tacos had some weird sauce (Korean) which overpowered any beef flavor. Our chicken fritters (by whatever name) didn't taste vey chicken-y. Interesting experience on the whole. But the high noise level, mediocre views from most tables, high prices, the need to reserve many weeks in advance, difficulty of parking, and mediocre-tasting food, made it too much of a hassle to repeat as a place to drive to, even from Lakewood. Service was very good, all waiters knowledgeable and friendly. ."

  • "In all honesty, this is the best dining experience I have had in Denver. The drinks, amuse, and courses were excellent and included interesting combinations of flavors and spices."

  • "The food and service was great as usual. The only issue I had this time was the peanut butter bar seemed a little different this time. The dessert wasn't as good as it usually is. However, still a great place with great food."
