A word from Linger
Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.

  • "We went as a family of four (1 teenagers) for Easter brunch. It is a fantastic location on a beautiful day. Very open air feel and great ambiance. Didn't have time to spend at the rooftop bar, but it appeared to be a nice venue with views of downtown. Maybe because it was brunch (the server told us that was fairly new menu), but the food fell a bit short of expectations. I would definitely recommend and we plan to go back."

  • "Although we were on time for our reservation, we were asked to wait about 20 minutes. Fortunately, it was a beautiful day and we went up to the roof deck bar which was quite cute and lively. The food was good, not spectacular. The brunch menu had several choices and a couple of specials were added by our server. Everything was fine, just not remarkable. It was a very popular spot with people of all ages, including toddlers. I would go back to try lunch or dinner, but probably not brunch as there are so many other places that have wonderful brunches in the area."

  • "Despite making a reservation for a special birthday brunch, adding a note n the reservation, and even calling the restaurant 2 days beforehand, the wait person still seemed surprised and unprepared when we asked what they would be serving the RAW VEGAN birthday guest. In typical form, Linger (like Root Down) is all about the 'show', and not about the substance of service or even accommodating things off the menu in innovative ways. Wake up! There are lots of options in the Denver dining scene that are blowing you away! And, they are not nearly as 'scene-y' as what you engender. Too bad....."

  • "We went to linger for Saturday brunch based on a recommendation from our mutual friends. My wife had been before and highly recommended their food. This time, however, our server stopped by the table to take our drink order, food order, and to bring the bill. The terrible service was somewhat understandable considering there were 2 servers for the front area, which is at least 25 tables. But, the staffing issue is unacceptable at a place like Linger. The food was not as good as my wife had the first time. The Breakfast Doso was underwhelming and the Chirozo tacos did nothing for me. We will give it another chance because it is in a great Highlands location and the ambience is great for out-of-town guests."

  • "I myself have been to linger with my husband a couple of times. I knew it would be a big hit to bring a group of women there for a friends bachelorette party. The food was amazing, the drink menu was unique and everyone enjoyed them! Our service was impeccable, our wait staff brought over a complementary shot, as well as hors d'oeuvres, and even a complimentary bite for dessert! Everyone raved about dinner! Thank you for making our time memorable and special!"

This wasn't my first visit to Linger and certainly won't be my last. It is quite simply one of those rare finds that satisfies the desire for great food that is creative and exquisitely prepared, as well as an amazing atmosphere and vibe. Denver has a vibrant and we'll respected food scene. Linger is a profound example as to why. If you haven't treated yourself to Linger as of yet, you should do so at your very earliest convenience. My only note is that during their relatively slow lunch don't plan on getting in and out in a timely manner."

  • "We had talked about going to Linger's but it was always a "wait" and my husband hates to wait. So I made reservations, and now we've been there 3 times in a month and we love it. I'm the foodie of the duo but he raved about the food as much as I did, which is unusual. The service is top shelf, the wait staff makes you feel valued!"

  • "We found that Linger was one of the top 100 hot spots to eat in America. Now, we know why. Very unique menu, everything we tried was excellent. Please note that this is a little more high end, so the prices are a little more than typical bar menu options, but you will not be disappointing. I had the BBQ Duck Bun and the Wagyu Sliders. The curried sour cream on the sliders was AMAZING. My girl had the Sesame tacos, equally amazing. The menu itself is so varied that we will have to come back several times to try everything. Give it a try, great recommendation for date night, a bit smaller portions so you don't feel like garbage after you eat. So you can have a little quality time with your date ;-)"

Vegetarian and Vegan options (though we'd love to see more vegan options on the brunch menu), terrific food and a menu that always entices us to try something new. Add great service...we've eaten at Linger at least a dozen times and always had very friendly and enthusiastic service. We love the atmosphere too...a converted mortuary with some very whimsical nods to the past scattered throughout. You have to try the Mongolian BBQ Tofu Bun...our new favorite!! We also love the Carrot and Lentil Falafel. Valet parking, too, which is very, very handy."

She never seemed far away, yet was not intrusive or overbearing. The bar team gets major kudos as well, its always nice to have bartenders who know how to make a proper Boulevardier.   • "It was Sunday brunch, so it was crowded, which I expected. However, our server was really bad. She was sluggish, inattentive, not on the ball at all, had to be reminded of what we asked for, and in general just did not come off as being very sharp. You win some, you lose some. I'm not a complainer at restaurants, because I know serving is awful and soul-crushing and often just something you have to do to survive. I'll be back because I love the place, but I will be hoping to get luckier with service next time around."

We hit some traffic leaving work and arrived a bit after our reservation. Some staff would find this annoying, however, Linger staff treated us patience and a warm smile. Would definitely recommend."

  • "What a wonderful evening we had. I had a reservation and it was honored a little late and in the bar area which worked out fine. Given that, the host and our wait staff were VERY attentive and offered us a free appetizer as well as some very delicious caramels at the end of our meal. Additionally, I had a gift certificate for the Tueday Prix Fix menu and was allowed to order from the main menu as well. I love that the restaurant is flexible and that the food is always so delicious!"

  • "We like trying new places and heard great things about Linger. We were a little concerned about finding something for everyone in our group to eat, we have a very picky eater in our group. She is always a good sport and goes along but to all our surprise she enjoyed the food as much as we did. It was fun trying the different items and sharing with each other. I did think out total bill was a bit high although I did not realize how expensive the wine was. Next time I may forgo the wine or only have one glass. All in all it was a great dining experience."

Waiter was knowledgeable but not overbearing, food was fabulous. None of us could pick our favorite because it was all so good! Sat and ate and talked and laughed for 3 hours. Good night."

  • "We ate at Linger for brunch. The coconut fizz is a must try for a drink. We had the crispy chicken buttermilk bun and it was delicious. The hangover ramen was disappointing. It lacked flavor, which could not be made up for with condiments and the noodles were overcooked. The meat in it seemed cheap. I'd choose something else. The adobo pork benedict was great. It had one of the best hollandaise sauces we've had. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "I made reservations for 2:15. They are open for brunch until 3:00. The waiter rushed us to get our food and drinks. Saying everything was shutting down. He was nice but anxious to leave which impacted our service. If they don't actually close at 3:00 and try to close early they shouldn't take 2:15 reservations. I will go here again and I would recommend this place. But I don't recommend a late brunch. And a positive note, the food is amazing."
