We had the roasted pear salad and
the beet salad which were both excellent. We both has a cup if the mushroom feta soup-- also excellent. My husband had the fried oysters and wishes they were raw. Otherwise it was a fabulous dinner before a play. Not too heavy and completely delicious. We wished they were open after the theater so we could try the desserts. Alas, they close at 9:30."

We always dine here when we come
to Ashland for theater, and usually enjoy the experience greatly. There was one little glitch this time, and while it could not be corrected, was resolved satisfactorily. We ordered the brussels sprouts appetizer to share and found that the brussels sprouts were just too tough to eat. The wait staff sent the dish back to the kitchen several times in an attempt to correct the situation, but they could not. I might add the sauce was delicious! The waiter did not charge us for the dish, so we were not upset. In fact, I believe the disappointment was mitigated by the wait staff and kitchen's attempts to make us happy. The rest of the food, was up to expectations, if not exceeding them."

Had a great dinner... A bit noisy
but vibrant and the food was perfect"
Dined on 2/28/2014
The service was overall prompt and
professional. There was no real "atmosphere" to talk about. Tables are quite close to each other and there were some very noisy ("energetic" ???) groups when we were there. My soup was excellent. However the oil on the table which we wanted to use with the bread was stale. We mentioned that to the waitress who apologized but left it there.... The trout was too salty and the sides were very greasy. My husband was OK with his choice. For the charged prices we expected much better."

Larks is an exceptional restaurant
featuring excellent food, service and overall ambiance. It is beyond doubt the best restaurant in Ashland, Oregon. we use this restaurant every visit to Ashland, usually three times a year from San Francisco. We have never been disappointed."
Dined on 2/21/2014
There were 5 of us. Dinner was
very good, fried chicken was delicious, the best white gravy. Someone ordered the pork chop, very good flavor but a little overdone. The trout was amazing. The only really disappointment was the Farm Plate Charcuterie, it was shared by all of us and we all expected more than one kind of meat; the duck on this appetizer was very good. The other appetizer we shared was the crab/cheese fondue, delicious. Try the brussel sprouts, they were the hit. We all agreed we would come back to share another meal."

This restaurant had the ambiance
of the sort of French restaurant that you would find in France. It is a place where groups of people come to eat and talk and enjoy themselves. It's perfect for a group of people who are meeting in Ashland to have dinner and see a play together. The service is quick and business-like but the food is definitely not "fast food"."
Dined on 2/16/2014
Our go to spot when we want great
service and above average food with a wide menu."
Dined on 2/16/2014
We've had the fried chicken at
Beezy's and Cuchina Biazzi, and this was the best by far. Tender, not mushy, very tasty. Excellent crust. One of us loved the bacon gravy, the other would have preferred the mushroom gravy Lark's used to have, but which was not available."
Dined on 2/14/2014
We were so pleased with our meal.
The wait staff were very professional and attended to our table very well. We we greeted with the kind of warmth that made our anniversary feel extremely special. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone that has an epicurean heart!"
Dined on 2/7/2014
I have been to Larks dozens and
dozens of times and never once been disappointed. Their service is always friendly, efficient, and thorough. Everything I've had has been delicious."

We really enjoyed our experience.
Two chefs in our group were very impressed."
Dined on 1/17/2014
The maple glazed Brussels Sprouts
w/ chunks of house cured bacon & hazel nuts were an outstanding appetizer - sweet & savory & perfectly done. The salads were fresh and well composed. Mine, the Caesar, was crisp and perfectly dressed w/ rosemary croutons & Parmesan shavings. For the main course I had the rib eye steak w/ blue cheese mashed potatoes & crispy onion strips and my wife had the duck confit, both melt in your mouth delicious. Our waitress, Sasha, was very personable and attentive as was the entire staff, offering to take our picture and bringing us a complimentary desert on account of my birthday. Whenever we go to Ashland we always try to eat at Larks, it never disappoints."
Dined on 1/11/2014
Steak barely warm when served,
beet salad $9 was tiny, and undercooked. For $108 total bill....not impressed, both of us said we would have had better food at the pita pit"

Larks is one of the standout
dinning venues in Ashland, Oregon, beautifully appointed and professionally staffed. Having dined there many times, and plans to do so again, our table of four was a bit surprised by the slightly overwhelming complexity of our meal. America may enjoy large portions, which were served, and rich taste combinations, but when it comes to fine dinning, less is truly more. Especially when the meal has been as good as it has been in the past. There may be a new chief and hopefully this was just a slightly off night. We will definitely return and hope the Larks of memory sings again."

I took my girlfriend (now fiancée)
here for dinner New Years Eve before I proposed, and it was phenomenal. The service was attentive but not overbearing, and the food was rich without being too heavy. I had the Southern Style fried chicken, she had the beef, but the real killer was the flourless chocolate cake."
Dined on 12/31/2013
The delicious fried chicken,
mashed potatoes and gravy are my teen daughter's favorite meal at Lark's. I always order one of the specials with local ingredients, like the great marionberry martini."
Dined on 12/27/2013
Wonderful local creative dining
with lovely service. We intentionally time our regular travels from Santa Barbara to Seattle to stay at the Ashland Springs and dine at Larks. It could not be better. Great for vegetarians."
Dined on 12/21/2013
Experience was OK. We each had
half sandwich and soup. Both were just a little the warm side of lukewarm. I think I saw the items sitting on the counter for a while before they were brought to our table. Wine pour was skimpy. Ambience was good. However, we would return."
Dined on 12/21/2013
Our server Bobby was fabulous. He
was very attentive and polite. The Butternut Squash soup was excellent. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I will definitely go back."
Dined on 12/6/2013
I love the unique menu, always
interesting takes on standard fare, great desserts, your servers are wonderful, I feel like family, they greet us like they love us, we love this place, we take our guests & family here. where ELSE BUT LARKS?!"
Dined on 12/6/2013
We always eat here when in
Ashland. The service is wonderful, the food inventive but not "strange", the preparation is impeccable. Wonderful experience as usual."
Dined on 10/16/2013
it was okay nothing to write home
about had the fried chicken very average."
Dined on 9/21/2013
Very flexible and accommodating in
working with our group of seven. Excellent timing and service."
Dined on 11/11/2013
The combination of very good food,
service, and inside a lovely hotel that is downtown makes this restaurant a place an Ashlander will want to take out of town visitors."

4th or 5th visit over last several
years as we can only visit so many of Ashland's great eateries. Wow! Larks was always special tho I wrote a review last time about slippage in some dishes. However, they are again outstanding in all ways. The dungeness crab hot cheese appetizer was full of crab, generous portion, lots of herb bread to soak it up with, and wonderfully seasoned. Then a California bass special (a litte dear at $30 but worth every bite) that was perfectly browned and served a bed a some sort of grain-sauce-vege stuff that had me wanting to lick the plate. Same great wine and beer selection with an atmosphere of calm and "homeiness". Best "traditional" martini in Ashland. I'll do lunch tomorrow for one unbelivable Lark dessert."

Lark's at the Ashland Springs
Hotel was an excellent place for dinner before a show at OR Shakespeare Festival or any special occasion. The ambiance and service were excellent. Cocktails were well mixed. Menu selections were highly varied and interesting. Our dinner, including an appetizer, excellent Caesar salad, Duck Con fit and the fish special was excellent. Definitely a top dining pick for Ashland."

Lark's has become a favorite
destination for a great, affordable meal for us. The noise level is usually just fine but his time there was someone with a very loud voice talking to her dining partner. For our Sunday brunch this time my eggs arrived over hard instead of over easy and the home fries were not up to the typical standards for this restaurant. My eggs were promptly redone to the way I ordered them. Scones were outstanding."
Dined on 10/20/2013
Like many restaurants Lark says
all the words and lists all the chichi ingredients, but misses on the preparation and execution necessary to justify it's lofty ambitions and pricing: food preparation (cooking potatoes prior to final frying) not completed, final assembly (look and presentation of plate) sloppy, and sauces (quality and seasoning) of lower quality. If this were a value priced and less ambitious venue, then these misses would matter less, but is unacceptable for their stated goals. The service was excellent however and a real effort was made to make us feel welcome and to correct the kitchen's faults."
Dined on 10/12/2013
pleasant environs with attentive
service. rib-eye and pork chop perfectly cooked. disappointed with wines by the glass offerings. all reds are blends. plan to return when in town."
Dined on 10/13/2013
We visit Ashland annually and
dining (along with the theater) is among the major draws. We have friends who own a B&B with whom we check on what they'd recommend. Larks was high on their list. We shared their Brussels sprouts appetizer and could have made a meal of it. It was a combination of sweet (maple syrup) and savory and one wanted to lick the bowl it was served in to get every drop. The entrees were also exceptional. We had the double cut pork chop with sweet potatoes and green been (having changed from the brussels sprouts scheduled to come with it) and a wonderful pasta dish. The food was delicious and very generous portions. Had a local (Caldera) beer and a glass of the house red wine. The dining room is very attractive."

We've been visiting Ashland
regularly since 1974, and Lark's is definitely our favorite restaurant for the past few years. The service is very friendly and attentive. The meals are delicious and beautifully prepared. The chef does a particularly fine job of preparing fresh vegetables. We just left Ashland, and I can't wait to get back to dine at Lark's again."
Dined on 10/10/2013
This spot has it all! A delightful
and delicious lunch in a great setting made our first afternoon in Ashland all the more special. Funny thing happened - the chef met us in the front of the restaurant forgetting to note we had arrived for our reservation. About 30 minutes after we 'should have arrived' I received a call from the restaurant asking if we intended to 'keep' our reservation. Obviously, they were a bit embarrassed but it was obvious that Lark didn't intend on snubbing us if we'd arrived later than planned. We returned the following night for a late night bite. Again, atmosphere, food and service were excellent."
Dined on 10/4/2013
Waitstaff was fantastic, made our
dinner a special occasion, and were aware we were headed to a play, seated us early and we even had time for delectable desserts!! Awesome all the way around,"
Dined on 10/5/2013
Best place in town for lunch since
Lela's closed. Wonderful salads and sandwiches, innovative specials, top-notch ingredients. My only wish would be for more affordable wine selections to cover all price categories. A wider spectrum of choices would allow for a bottle of wine for lunch that would fit the menu prices."
Dined on 10/3/2013
The night we went it was Halibut,
cooked to perfection. Beet salad with fennel, amazing soups. Truly a gem of a place. Best dinner of our visit."
Dined on 10/3/2013
This is definitely several notches
above the usual hotel restaurant food. We had some very fresh fish perfectly cooked. The wine list offered a good selection at mid range prices."
Dined on 9/30/2013
The Brussels sprouts were very
tasty but a little tough; the pork chop was likewise tasty but overdone. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant experience."
Dined on 9/28/2013
Excellent presentation of locally
sourced ingredients. Menu changes seaonally and there are nightly specials. We had the oysters - perfectly fried and the soup of the day to start. The entrees were very good - halibut and rockfish both prepared prefectly. The only dissappointment was the chocolate cake dessert - to much sauce - overpowered the salted caramel ice cream. Nice selection of special cocktails, wines and beers. Part of the historic Ashland Springs Hotel. One of the few upscale restaurants open Mondays."
Dined on 9/24/2013
Exceptional in every possible way,
food was phenomally good, excellent service, comfortable while being upscale, what else can I say other than, a great experience!"
