Diner Reviews
  • "We eat at La Casa Sena every time we come to Santa Fe. The food is wonderful! It has a beautiful outdoor patio which is shaded. What really amazes us is consistent outstanding service. This resturant is definitely one of a kind."

  • "We love the Cantina at La Casa Sena! We timed our reservation for the first set. The food and entertainment were outstanding! A great spot for a special evening or celebration, and one of our favorites in Santa Fe."

  • "We have eaten at La Casa Sena several times. Our last visit was a bit of a miss. The lamb in the lamb tostada was mutton. Tough and strong-tasting. I asked the chef to hold the pineapple salsa from the pork loin because I am diabetic. The most unappetizing plate appeared. Several pieces of orange pork loin sitting with a lump of orange sweet potatoes in an orange pool of jus. Admittedly delicious, but the kitchen couldn't bother to throw a sprig of cilantro on that plate? Paired with an eager young man who removed the bread basket in the middle of our meal and removed my plate before my husband was through eating, this restaurant simply wasn't up to snuff."

  • "Although we were seated outside, we were right by the service area which made for multiple distractions during our meal. Enchiladas left something to be desired. Salmon and scallop dishes were good, not excellent."

  • "A good friend recommended a few restaurants to us in Santa Fe and this was one of them. Hopefully we just had a one-time bad experience because the other suggestions were quite good. La Casa Sena has a great setting for sitting outside in a courtyard and the waiter was quite cordial. The meal was a different story. One meat entrée was overcooked and very tough. Another person's salad had lettuce that should not have been served. Once this was pointed out to the waiter, he informed the manager and he addressed the issues. They deducted the items from our bill and offered substitutions so they were responsive to the issues. We would try La Casa Sena again to se if this was a fluke because it is normally rated well."

  • "The nicest patio in Santa Fe, too bad the food does not live up to the location. Good wine list."

  • "During a one week visit to Santa Fe, my wife had lunch with with friends at La Casa Sena while I attended a conference. She was so intrigued with her lunch and the setting that she took me the next day for lunch. We went back again for dinner on our last night in Santa Fe. The ambience of the outdoor seating area is absolutely wonderful, surrounded by one story shops but set apart from the street and traffic. The food is excellent. I had the green chili chesseburger for both lunch and dinner. Then we shared the carrot sorbet for dessert. This restaurant is a must during a visit to Santa Fe and is only one block from The Plaza."

  • "we have been to La Casa Sena at least 4 times over the years. It's always special. Food is excellent and we had a great waiter. Sorry, I can't remember his name. Unfortunately we had the one night that it rained so we could not eat on the fabulous patio. But we had a great table inside. We will come again! Linda S Scottsdale.AZ"

  • "We had never been to La Casa Sena before . The ambiance , warm night air and romantic little patio were delightful . The food was excellent - innovative . The wine selection was truly remarkable ."

  • "Have been here many times. This time was not good. Food was not up to par. Had venison sausage sandwich . Came with marinated veg side. Completely overwhelmed everything. Another order was fish taco that was not ver good."

  • "I am local and have not been to Casa Sena in years. I was looking forward to dining on the patio, which was an exceptional nice and relatively quiet dining location. The Service was great and everyone was very attentive and friendly. The food I have to say was not outstanding. I ordered surf and turf and salad and my meal can out as a surf and turf salad. Which was okay except the salad was not very good and my steak was burned on outside. We also had guacamole which in a town of many great guacamole choices was too only average. I will not likely go back for many more years. I was disappointed."

  • "Casa Sena has been a part of Santa Fe for decades and it has stood the test of time. The menu is current and frequently changing, the bar is welcoming and a hoot on cantina nights, and above all the staff are amazing!"

  • "Our guests from CA were impressed ... Had a full sight-seeing venue planned at and around the Plaza and lunch at La Casa Sena added to the most favorable impression of what Santa Fe is all about. Our guests will return!"

  • "Took my father to dinner while on a visit to New Mexico. He was very very pleased with his meal and the beauty of the outdoor seating. We sat beneath a cottonwood tree that must've been hundreds of years old and near the fountain. Our meals of salmon and scallops were done beautifully. And the pomegranate margarita wasn't bad either!"

  • "We have been going to La Casa Sena for years, and think the patio is among the nicest, if not the best in Santa Fe. We wish the food quality was as good. The menu prices are on the high side, but the food is average. The last several meat entrees I ordered there were over cooked and dry. Also think the menu needs an update. If the food and menu could be improved, we would go much more often. Right now we go mainly for the beautiful patio, but not too often."

  • "We had hoped for an outdoor dining experience but Mother Nature provided much needed rain so we ate indoors and were cordially greeted at the door. Service was friendly but disappointing, the waiter seemed distracted. We enjoyed our Caesar salad, I loved the mussels and my sweetheart liked the salmon. We expect premium service at an expensive restaurant, that includes having the waiter pour our wine for us. Busboy service very attentive. Despite the service we will be back, especially to enjoy the courtyard."

  • "We were seated on the patio, an extremely pleasant location. Service was of a consistently high quality. Wine choice was formidable. My wife had the honeydew melon soup, slighly spiced, which she pronounced "delicious" and followed up with aztec-dusted salmon which was cooked exactly the way she requested, i.e. to perfection. I had the baby iceberg salad, a particular weakness of mine, followed by the red chile braised lamb, both of which I was very well pleased with. Overall, our expectations, already pretty high, were exceeded. We will return. "

  • "The food and setting were great. The wine list is wide and varied both as to varietals and prices. We had requested a quiet table and the host had saved a table that met our needs."

  • "As a Santa Fe local, La Casa Sena is our go to restaurant to take out of town friends, family, meet for dinner or a weekend lunch. The food, service and ambience both indoors and out is always consistent. I can't say we have ever had a negative experience. Sure, there might be an occasional flavor that is new and different but even then the staff and chef are always accomodating and striving to make your food, dining experience a great one. "

  • "Food and service (Mark Ortega) were quite good. We have eaten here before and expected a first rate dining experience. Unfortunately the restaurant which boasts a vast and impressive wine list has an inexplicable policy that prohibits wine being opened or served until all members of the party have finished their pre dinner cocktails or surrendered them without finishing them. Some of us savor our beverages. Apparently La Casa Sena expects it's patrons to chug your drinks, avoid ordering wine or surrender any drinks for which you have already paid. A very odd policy. Needless to say we cancelled our wine order."

  • "We've dined at Casa Sena a few times in the past and it's always been very good. This time though the options on the menu were not as good and our server kept going off and forgetting us. I had the hanger steak which was very good but my husband opted for the lamb shoulder which was dry and very gamey. We will, most likely, make another choice for our anniversary next time we visit Santa Fe."

  • "We came from Denver, I got a message from the restaurant the morning of our reservation and was told we would have to sit outside because we made a web reservation. My sister and I had the vegetable appetizer $9 apiece, there was a forkful of julienned vegetables a couple of ounces of gazpacho and some crusty bread. We shared the chicken enchiladas which were good. Then they were out of their bloody mary mix on a Saturday afternoon? The servers kept coming back to our table making excuses."

  • "We love driving down to the Santa Fe/Taos area every year, particularly around President's Day weekend. The town is quiet but active during this time of year. We had a wonderful dining experience, the food was terrific and the service was very good as well. It also was Valentine's Day so many couples were out celebrating, a busy night for all. We will return."

  • "As a long time Santa Fe resident, I keep hoping that this restaurant will return to the culinary excellence that it used to have. Sadly, I keep getting disappointed despite trying to get my out of town guests to experience other venues. Lesson learned last week after an overpriced, over-salted dinner with a dessert that was incredibly stale. Sad."

  • "3 course prix-fix menu! First course is a small basket of mini muffins! Second course included an omelette that was so small that it couldn't have had one egg in it. The potatoes were cold and the desert was so small, it was four bites. All that for $30.00 per person! They are taking advantage of the patio as a draw. THey used to be much better."

  • "I took my mother to La Casa Sena from the Mother's Day lunch. The restaurant advertises the lunch is a three course meal. One would assume that three courses consist of a salad, and entrée, and a dessert. Not so here. one of the courses is a pastry basket with sub average pastries. The pastries consist of corn muffins blueberry muffins and other generic pastries. The entrée menu is limited as well. The desert offered was tasteless and unimpressive. I chose to have Mother's Day lunch here to treat my mom to something really special. This brunch is anything but special. At $30 a person, I was sorely disappointed in La Casa Sena."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The highlight of Mother's Day Brunch was the entrees - incredibly delicious. This is good because the entree course had to carry the whole meal, which started out with a "bread basket" that was pitched as a starter course and a selection of deserts that were not tasty. Service was polite, but absent for most of the meal, including a thirty minute wait between plate clearing of entrees and the presentation of the low quality deserts (which had to be pre-ordered at the time of the entree, so one would think they would come out quickly at the end of the meal). This was a pre-set menu and I would rather pay a little more for better quality starters and deserts. Still, it was an enjoyable day and I am glad we chose La Casa Sena."

  • "But La Casa Sena was well organized for the crowd. The menu was intelligently organized with a nice selection but not overwhelming. Food was excellent all around. This is not a comment I often make about brunch. I would like to go again for a regular dinner."
