Jax Fish House - DenverThe food was great: the fishThe food was great: the fish everyone in our party ordered was really fresh. Dishes had different flavors that came out perfectly. The only downside was the noise by the bar. Next time, we will ask for a table far from the bar.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good, weThe food was very good, we started with the shisito peppers which were delicious. Then we did a mix of the raw oysters
All of which were fresh and served with your choice of horseradish or minionette. For entrees we had the fried snapper
served over blackeyed peas, okra and heirloom tomatoes. Very light and tasty. It's kind of a loud venue, but if your up
For a great, casual dining experience, Jax is the place!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat out a lot. This wasWe eat out a lot. This was the best dinner in Denver for more than a year. Incredible service. Food was out of this world.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server (I think his nameOur server (I think his name is Jose) was excellent...timely, efficient, organized.
Our food (there was 5 of us) was awesome. We had the calamari, gumbo, lobster rolls, crab cakes and marlin. All were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. Drinks (fruited infusions) were equally satisfying.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful fresh oysters everyWonderful fresh oysters every time we visit! Very creative menu.. You have to try the garlic fries! Yum!!!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMthe service ruined our experienceI work in the industry, so having a 9:15p reservation worried me a tad... Our server def. "checked out" mid way through our meal. My motto has always been to keep a drink in front of someone... needless to say at one point after my waiter left the table after taking someone's drink order, I had to flag down the manager (my perception that he was in charge) to order a beer. The manager seemed a little clueless that our waiter was not performing?? The food was pretty good. I just expect a lot more out of Jax in terms of service. No matter how good the food and atmosphere are, bad service just puts a damper on the evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food. More the bar sceneGood food. More the bar scene that fine dining area. Would go back for Happy Hour at the bar...good time!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMmm hmm! This was one of those magical nights where everything fell into place. Jax added to the magic with wonderful service, delicious food, and a fun atmosphere!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great but theEverything was great but the portions ate small for the price.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Experience! My fiancé and I spent a weekend in Denver recently, and decided to try Jax for dinner on Saturday night. We started with a pair of house oysters which were fresh, briny, and delicious. Then a crab cake, which was superb. The crab was allowed to shine, and it did. Our third course was a salad with a 6 minute egg and a housemade vinaigrette. The greens were fresh and of high quality. The egg was perfectly cooked, and added a richness to the salad that balanced well with the acid of the dressing. For the main courses, I had the cobia and my fiancé the blue marlin. Both were perfectly cooked, had nice accompaniments, and were expertly seasoned. Service was top notch as well. We will be back next time we're in town!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Happy HourWe popped in for Happy Hour and nearly everything was perfect. Jose was the perfect server in his knowledge, attitude, and efficiency. Our oysters and other starters were very tasty. Try Imogene's Bread as it's warm and slightly sweet and served with creamy butter... We both highly enjoyed our entrees (Grouper Cheeks and Grilled Cobia), but I thought the cheeks were a tad on the dry side. The vegetables that the fishes were laid upon also seemed a bit too greasy and not as refined as I expected. The grilled broccoli was different and I loved it. Drinks were fabulous (Jax Strawberry Lemonade and Ginger Beer)! Overall recommended!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMrecommend!great, the food was wonderful and the staff was attentive. great date night selection.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat OystersOysters were fantastic. Had clam chowder that was more like potato soup with some in-the-shell clams dropped in, and with a strong alcohol taste in the soup - very rich. Also, the woman clearing our table between items being brought had a poor attitude (rude). Overall, disappointing, but we will try it again because of the great oysters, and there are other items on the menu that looked great as they brought them to other diners.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome happy hourThe happy hour menu is fantastic and extremely affordable. $1.25 oysters + a lot more. Always fantastic service.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDowntown Denver seafoodThe oysters were great and so was the crab a little pricey but well worth it. The gumbo was the best I have ever had.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI hadn't been here in a yearI hadn't been here in a year or so and found the food to be better than ever.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was very on pointOur server was very on point & had great recommendations. A little loud, but we didn't mind. The cocktails were perfect, the food perfect as well.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe oysters were amazing. The oysters were amazing. Try the blue crabcakes - melt in your mouth. It was very busy, but the wait staff was attentive and on top of things. Highly recommended - make reservations.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy Bar Scene; Great Service/FoodGreat experience overall. If you are there around 7-8pm on a weekend, be prepared for a very crowded bar scene. The place is small so it's hard to walk or stand anywhere and tough to get service at the bar. Once you are seated the service is amazing and the food is outstanding. They also have a raw bar with a great selection.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE Denver seafood placeThe best place in Denver for fish, lots of flavor and features. If you want light and fresh, bold, or maybe even comforting; Jax offers it all. A great place for Happy Hour, with some good small plates, cocktails and always a great beer selection. The new lunch menu is great, I have waited for Jax to feature lunch for a long time. The new renovations add a lot of bar seats, but I kind of miss the warm brick that was covered up. Regardless, it is normally a great experience and meal.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMJax Rocks!Have had lunch at Jax twice in the last month. Great experience. The menu is a bit limited but not tough to find something that works. The wine list, especially the cellar list, is great. Be sure to try the Duncan and Sachs house cab. Excellent! The service is very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
