  • "The three course fixed price lunch at Il Piatto is a really good deal. One of the best parts is that you can substitute a second appetizer for dessert and the appetizers are to die for! If you can't make up your mind about which of the wines to choose, the wait person will often offer a taste test."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the overall experience at Il Pattio in Santa Fe very much. The prosciutto-wrapped trout filet was outstanding. We were told they have tried removing the dish from the menu but everyone always requests it be kept available. Not sure why you would want to remove something from the menu that is apparently always in such high demand! The braised pears with house-made honey ricotta and greens were an excellent starter. Overall great experience, moderately priced for Santa Fe dining at this level, and easy walking distance from Plaza area hotels. We'll return when in Santa Fe when we want something besides the excellent local choices for Mexican and southwestern influenced dining."

  • "Il Piatto has lost the prix fixe deal (which always made me eat too much anyway) and our meals were rather poor. I had the pork chop which was under salted as was the polenta it came with. The red chile sauce has the distinction of being very hot yet bland...maybe it was missing salt or maybe it was just red chile with no other flavor. There was only one very sad bok choy with the meal, it's top had been burnt and it's stem was under-cooked and chewy. I ordered spinach on the side to make up for the sorry bok choy and they cheerfully brought me sauteed arugula instead (said nothing of it). I don't really like sauteed arugula that much and especially not with the huge amount of garlic which made it bitter mouthful. Very disappointed."

  • "Wife and I went there for our 25th anniversary; watermelon & tomato gazpacho was fantastic. For entrees, we had the pumpkin ravioli and Gorgonzola walnut ravioli - both were also excellent. Deserts were chocolate mouse and cheesecake- mouse was great, but cheesecake was dry. Wines were good. Service was above average. Arrive early (or stay late) to take advantage of happy hour prices at the bar. FYI - no liquor, only beer and wine"

  • "This was our second visit to Il Piatto, which reaffirmed the excellent experience we'd had before. The late night happy hour wine and food specials after 9p can't be beat! The food is delicious and inventive. My companion had an amazing mussels with linguine in a red chile saffron crema that was unique and fabulous. My rabbit loin was tasty but a bit overcooked and the garlic shoots that came with it were tough and a distraction from the dish. But Il Piatto is still a winner overall and we'll definitely go there again."

This time I had the trout special which was most excellent. Hubby had grilled calamari and the smaller size version of pasta with clams which he thoroughly enjoyed."

  • "Unfortunately, il Piatto is an Italian restaurant that way overcooked its pasta! I had mussels with mushy pasta and my husband had calamari, also with mushy pasta. My appetizer had possibilities-- the duck liver was good as was the crostini, but the chef, regrettably, added Gorgonzola cheese to the liver. Now the menu did say gorgonzola cheese on top, but I had no idea that the tastes would clash as much as they did. The mussels were okay, but the crema sauce was way too thick! We won't be back."

Pasta was made in house & cooked perfectly. Gazpacho was especially flavorful. Even the wine by the glass we had was good-Pinot grigio. Will go again."

  • "with all the fresh ingredients here in santa fe this was by far not good its all prepared days in advance the salad wilted and not fresh the dressing very ordinary subpar if it came out of a jar would of had been better the fish salmon had skin on that is unacceptable , and the pasta sauce was very fattening and greasy"

  • "We keep trying Il Piatto thinking WE are the ones having a bad night and it turns out that it is Il Piatto that is having the bad night, continually. Portions are small, uninteresting tastes and often NOT the tastes described on the menu…shrimp scampi…NO garlic at all….chicken livers not trimmed correctly leaving them inedible, pasta sauce very much less than satisfying and an incredibly small portion to boot. $15 glass of wine for a 5oz pour???? sorry ….they have finally lost us….even for the 1000 points."

The cheesecake was tasty but difficult to eat as it separated from the crust. We love Il Piatto and will be back -- can't always be fabulous!"

  • "The half-priced appetizers and selected wines between 4:30 and 6:00 is a deal that simply can't be passed up. I've dined here the past two times my parents have come to visit Santa Fe (so, twice within the last month!) and both of our experiences were outstanding. I love that Il Piatto features in-season produce in both appetizer and entree dishes - spring asparagus and mushrooms during our most recent visit. The service is excellent and the food consistently tasty :) We will be back, perhaps to enjoy late-night happy hour deals!"

  • "We have had good lunches at Il Piatto, because they have very good lunch deals. This particular night was terrible. First, they explained the grill was out, so they couldn't serve any grilled items. Next, any of the items that had vegetables were either over or under cooked. One was so stringy it was impossible to cut with a steak knife. The antipasti was not as expected, very small, prosciutto was crispy and way too much sardines. Meatballs for one of the pasta dishes were dry and hard. We have been to Il Piatto in the past for lunch and have had nice experiences, but this was terrible."

  • "I was very extremely disappointed with Il Piatto. The restaurant was extremely noisy, no air conditioning (went in May). Way overpriced for the quality (if there was any). Started with their version of a Caesar salad, romaine with two pieces of anchovie and way over dressed. Ordered the papadella with duck. Duck was just shredded pieces of duck in a sauce with papadella pasta that was thick, NOT cooked and awful. I sent it back, asking them for better cooked pasta and it came back almost the same. The bread they serve is awful as well. Service was rushed and non existent. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. "

  • "After several dinners at Il Piatto, we feel safe in recommending it for an enjoyable Northern Italian dining experience. The menu is definitely not the usual kind of menu one sees for Italian food and that is a real strength! The prices are moderately high (wines tend to be high), for the most part. Wine list is interesting in its offering of Ialian wines and worth exploring. One issue is that the restaurant would benefit from having a sommalier, or do more training with the wait staff about the wine list. Otherwise, the service is very good."
