Diner Reviews
  • "Fantastic experience. They added a note to our menu for my cousin's birthday and the food impressed my very "foodie" aunt and uncle. All with a great view. Can't beat that!"

  • "We enjoyed every bite of our meal! Get the cheese plate, it was a highlight and a good deal. I had the barrrundi and my husband got the lobster ravioli, fantastic! Wine was great. The little complementary bites between courses made the meal!"

  • "The food was good - appetizers were better than entrees. Mizuna salad was great, and my husband got the quail and said it was excellent. We also had Moscow Mules for cocktails and they were excellent. For dinner I got the halibut, which was not seasoned at all. For $44 I think salt is in order. The worst part of the evening was the staff, interrupting our conversation to clear plates or bring tastings that were "compliments of the chef". This happened 8 - 10 times during the meal and was very distracting."

  • "My first time at this location and I was delighted with the menu, views, and service. Food and service compare favorably with Guy Savoy restaurants but the views are much better. Perfect for a romantic dinner or fine dining with friends. We will be going again."

  • "Everything about Flagstaff House was perfect. Never have I had such perfect service N the food is cooked to perfection. Best dinning experience I've ever had."

  • "Expensive (wine + appetizers + entrées + coffees and dessert for two = 300$), but totally worth it."

  • "This is one of the best meals, and best dining experiences, I have had in many years in Colorado. Food was outstanding, service excellent . . . and that view!"

  • "I travel every week and eat out all the time. For a balance of great food, spectacular wines, amazing views and attentive but not overbearing service this is one of the best places I've been. Overall experience was brilliant."

  • "The views were amazing, we went at 7pm so we got to see full light and sunset and night by the time we left. I fully recommend doing the same when you book your reservation. Service was amazing and the food was also excellent. Decor could use an update but that was minor it was clean and well kept."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was an exceptional experience. Staff catered very well to the occasion making it one to remember. This may be the best meal I ever ate!"

  • "The sommelier at the Flagstaff House did not disappoint. Knowledgable and friendly, she picked the perfect wine. The food was delicious, but the waiter didn't ask our children what they wanted to drink. We had to ask him to take their beverage orders well into the first course. He lacked attention to the table and the second course came out over twenty minutes after the first course were finished. Probably the most disappointing service in all the years we have been going to the Flagstaff House."

  • "This is probably THE most expensive restaurant you can eat at in Boulder, a foodie town with lots of wonderful high quality dining options. Don't get me wrong, the Flagstaff house is very special, from the location, to the views, and the "special occasion" feel of the place. The service is excellent and the staff accommodating and friendly. The food? It's good, not great. I dined there this week for a family birthday celebration. We saw at least 3 other tables doing the same as they were delivered the same special birthday dessert sampler that was beautifully presented. Would I go back for a another special occasion? Perhaps. Would I choose to dine there otherwise? Probably not. $39 for a very mediocre vegetarian entree was ludicrous."

  • "From churning their own butter from locally sourced fresh cream to attending to your every need, the waiter and supporting staff serve up excellent food with special extras between each course. Always a great choice for special occasions and good times."

  • "Without question this is one of the great restaurants anywhere. The view is to die for, the service so good it makes it hard to go back to normal places, the food is so good it should be illegal and the extras just take the whole experience over the top. Of the 10 best restaurants I have had the good fortune to visit in a lifetime of travel this is absolutely one of the very best."

  • "If you are looking for a opportunity to "make a memory" I would highly recommend the Flagstaff. The service and the quality of the staff was superb. One of the best opportunities to celebrate a special occasion in fashionable luxury."

  • "Valet parking was pleasant and professional! Staff in the restaurant were all about service from start to finish! I do not think I ever felt this special in any restaurant. The food was amazing. Starting with the all the special tastes such as the watermelon and ginger teaser to the breads, sorbet and other fine treats - AMAZING and FINEST OF QUALITY! The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. I did not need to add a sauce to hide a fishy taste. In fact, the food delights were seasoned so well I did not need to add salt or pepper - a bite after bite fantastic experience! Don't forget to order coffee with the desert - what a joyful surprise! Without reservation I would recommend this restaurant - It is worth every dollar spent!"

  • "The menu selection was amazing. Flagstaff House prints their menu every night based on the chef in the kitchen and the freshness of the local food. The wine/beer/cocktail list is electronic, so you can have in-deep descriptions about what is in your drink and its origins. The valet parking was a nice surprise as well. A young man greeted us as we arrived, which he was exceptionally courteous. When we were ready to leave, we exited the restaurant and that same valet was already meeting us with our vehicle. The service overall was timely and professional without the pretentious attitude."

  • "We had a meal worthy of the remarkable setting-- delicious filet mignon, superb lamb, outstanding duck, and superlative scallops all charmed our taste buds. The amuses kept things interesting and creative between courses. The chocolate ice cream was also first rate but a bit superflous. Watching the city go from day to night from the mountainside was a beautiful transition of nature and light. Overall a wonderful experience we hope to repeat on another special occasion!"

  • "We had been to the Flagstaff House once before years ago. The main reason to go is the view - great view of Boulder from the mountain side. However, even though I made the reservation over two weeks in advance, they would not let me designate a good table and although we got a table outside under the covered patio, we were right behind a tree with huge low-hanging branches which effectively negated the view. If they would just trim back the low branches it would have been perfect. (Yes I know this wouldn't be natural which is the look they are going for). All else was quite good, though not the best meal I've had. Total bill including cocktails and tip was $320 for 2 of us, and I have definitely had better meals for that price."

  • "My husband and I have celebrated many anniversary dinners at The Flagstaff House, and it is always the absolute best dining experience. We enjoy the gorgeous, memorable views stretching out across Boulder. But most of all, the food is excellent - our entrees were beautifully prepared to perfection. . .absolutely delicious! I highly recommend The Flagstaff House Restaurant for the ultimate dining experience!"

  • "As a couple who spends a significant amount of time & money dining out, this was our first visit. The service is right up there with the best. Wine selection is good and the Sommelier was fantastic. We started off with a salad and my other half had the soup - both excellent. One of us had the Maine Lobster, which also was excellent - cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. The other had the Barramundi, which was "ok" at best. We drifted from our personal policy of not ordering anything that is too far away from the table where it is served. Australian Barramundi falls into that category. We skipped dessert, but they brought our a beautiful impressive "Happy Birthday" plate for us - NICE!"

  • "The location is just outstanding with spectacular views over the valley. Interior of the restaurants is somewhat outdated and needs refurbishing. The service is superior and the food was generally good, except the fish (we had halibut and salmon) was a bit dry"

  • "Wonderful view, service, and wine list. The food was just okay and not up to the quality of the best Boulder and Denver restaurants."

  • "A Colorado & Boulder Must! Impeccable Service with a fine eye on detail. We enjoyed quality food, fine wine and spectacular sunset views. We sat at the floor to ceiling glass but would consider outdoor dining for a future visit (looked very inviting and a new offering with the recent remodeling). Wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary! Cheers to The Flagstaff House."

  • "The last night of our first trip to the Denver area was climaxed by this unforgettable dining experience at the Flagstff House. It was much more than we expected from the picturesque setting to the attentive service to the magnificent meal presentation and taste. We will not soon forget our wonderful evening there."

  • "There are 3 parts to the restaurant, outside patio, inside dining in a room open to the outdoors and the inside dining room. I would not recommend sitting in the room open to the outside on a warm night. Request the inside dining room that is air conditioned. Food and service is very good."

  • "We had a very nice meal for our anniversary. The food was great with a lot of attention and surprises from the restaurant. The only disappointment was we did not get to sit next to the window or outdoors to enjoy the incredible view."

  • "There are few restaurants in the world where the staff are so attentive and responsive to your every need. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure the most pleasant customer experience. The food is fantastic, the view is amazing, the wine list is comprehensive. Everything was perfect."

  • "A friend recently lost her spouse and two of us took her out for dinner at my favorite restaurant. Neither had been to Flagstaff. Both remarked it was the nicest experience they could remember. No complaints."

  • "Three couples in the same family all share the same day for the anniversary of their wedding. Flagstaff House is the perfect venue for a special event. The last time we went was for a mother's 90th birthday. Staff were particularly attentive to food allergies without calling attention to the situation. Adaptations were made and served without great fanfare. Halibut and lobster was memorable with tasty vegetables and pesto on the side. Everyone at the table was pleased with their selections."

  • "Everything that I used to like about the Flagstaff House is still there but it also has a new vibe. Service is it's usual impecable quality but visually it seems more open and inviting. The food preparation was perfect and visually stunning. I need to put this back on a more regular rotation."

  • "I've lived in Denver-Metro for 35 years, but had never been to the Flagstaff House. I chose my 10 year Wedding Anniversary (June 28th) as my first visit, and was a little disappointed. For ambience, atmosphere, & food choices, there is no equal - it was a beautiful night & the meal was incredible. (the Duck Confit was unbelievable!). Unfortunately, the Service (i.e. the Server) a very subpar for a restaurant like the Flagstaff House. Our waiter (Nic D.) was horrible. He was very inattentive, and rushed us through our meal. It seemed like all he wanted to do was 'turn' the table for more tips and didn't seem very concerned about our dining experience. For all that $$$, I expected better - Don't think I'll ever go back."

  • "Superlative in every aspect of Dining. Impossible to beat the view high in the mountains overlooking the city of Boulder Colorado. Three of us had halibut and one chicken and all agree our meals were high quality, delicious, and perfectly prepared. Our friends, while not a normal habit of theirs, took pictures of the presentations to send to their foodie friends. From the main course, to the bread selections, pallet cleanser, pastry chef free morsels that kept on coming, to the selection of 9 sweeteners for the coffee (I'm talking different colored sugars and candies), everything served was elegant and unique. The service was beyond reproach--I never experienced what seemed to be an unusual number of staff attending our needs. Great!"

  • "This is my go to restaurant for special celebrations--anniversaries, significant birthday. Usually I find the experience extraordinary, and the price worth the little extra touches they continuously provide. Unbelievable wine offerings. The food was delicious, especially love the morel mushrooms, asparagus, crispy soft duck egg appetizer, and the short ribs were so rich and delicious. My favorite dessert hands down is the Chocolate Bag--dark chocolate, almond cake, white mousse. We usually find the service to be excellent, it was a little off the night we went, a bit surprising."
