A word from Dinner for Two
Dinner for Two is a family owned restaurant that has a comfortable, intimate atmosphere for parties large or small. Our local 'regulars' call us "a great value in fine dining". Multi-award winning: including Wine Spectator and "top 10 in southwest" We are happy to host dinners for organizations, or private celebrations from 2 to 60, everything is made in-house so special diets are easily accommodated: allergies, gluten free, etc.

  • "Our recent return to Dinner for Two confirmed that solid cooking remains the strength of this downtown 'locals-secret'. From the delicious fresh bread to the well made 'custom' Caesar salad and the excellent entrees (fried chicken & 'Frenched' chicken breast stuffed w/ sundried tomatoes and Gruyere). The Sunday Dinner for $19 remains a great deal as well. We look forward to the rumored 'update to the kitchen/bar area' and will return soon."

  • "We had the most amazing dining experience at D42. We remembered this restaurant and returned for a second time while in Santa Fe. There were four of us and we began with the Melted Leek Tart, and Onion Soups. Dinner continued with Veal Marsala which was fantastic, "Frenched" Stuffed Chicken Breast , and the specialg was a Soft Shell Crab. The highlight of the evening, were the desserts. We shared dessert: the Warmed Chocolate Fudge Cake with Black Raspberry Ice Cream. BUT the AMAZING PART: the restaurant was out of bananas so the server offered to zip out on his scooter to get some to make the BANANAS FOSTER! TRULY A MEMORABLE EVENING! A SPECIAL EVENING MADE EVEN MORE SO BY THE ATTENTIVE STAFF AND DELICIOUS FOOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH!"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Dinner for Two in Santa Fe. It is a small restaurant but everyone gets individual attention. We shared the crab cake appetizer, the chateaubriand (which is actually made for two people), and a delicious chocolate fudge cake with blackberry ice cream along with a bottle of cabernet sauvignon. Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable. They also do a Caesar salad for two or more and it is prepared tableside as is the chateaubriand. The tableside presentations are really fun and make it even more special. If you are in Santa Fe, do not miss this hidden gem."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at our favorite neighborhood restaurant, Dinner For Two. I had my first soft shelled crabs & now I'm hooked! So light & crisp & delicious. My husband had his fav, beef tenderloin, cooked perfectly as always....which isn't easy since he prefers meat well-done but Dinner For Two always prepares his beef just as he orders. We started with another fav of ours, the Caesar Salad For Two made tableside. It was amazing as usual as well as the toasty loaf of carmelized onion bread. Excellent wine & service. From start to finish, we thoroughly enjoy an evening at Dinner For Two!"

  • "The Sunday Prix Fixe is great. Only $19 per three-course meal. This time my wife had the rib-eye for a $7 upcharge. It had a little more fat than I would anticipate from this restaurant, but was cooked to perfection at med-rare. I had the veal piccata and it was perfection. The $25 special bottles of wine (we had a Syrah) are good choices for the price."

The service was excellent and the food was delicious and unique; the overall experience was very special. I am convinced after enjoying the delicious freshly baked bread, a crab cake appetizer, a vegetarian bean entree and trying three different desserts (house-made gelato, chocolate fudge cake and the incredible 'coffee and donuts') that everything on this menu must be to-die-for. Gratitude to the chef and wait staff for such a memorable experience. "

  • " Weekend getaway to Santa Fe, looking to cap off days of hiking around to all the sites with a calm, quieter, less "touristy" evening. Liked menu variety, atmosphere (not formal, but less casual than other SF spots), attitude of ALL staff (chef voluntarily came into dining room to check on guests). Live acoustic guitar was nice touch (a tad loud, but we were seated close-by). Food was ample, excellent, and realistically priced; staff was friendly, helpful without being intrusive; option for table-side prep for many items was a well-done treat. Staff seemed genuinely interested in providing an all-around pleasant experience. Only improvement would be an additional vegetarian item for menu (there was only one such choice available). "

  • "We love Dinner for Two. Recently they had a number of very nice wines on their "Pocket List" of wines with special pricing. We enjoyed a pinot gris from Washington state. At a second visit, on May 11 we hoped to enjoy it again, but were very disappointed when the waitress returned after taking our order to tell us it was sold out, as were two other wines we wished to try. Apparently the Mother's Day crowd depleted their cellars. This could be an unusual situation... we hope they are able to replenish the pinot gris. Dinner for Two has outstanding cuisine, friendly staff/chefs and a dedication to local suppliers and innovative menus. It is always a pleasure to be welcomed to dine there. "

  • "We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had one friend with us. I told the owner as we went to our table that it was my wife's birthday. No reaction at all. After she led us to the table, she said to my wife, "Happy Birthday". That was it! It kind of took the wind out of our sails because we expected maybe something to make it special...... Anyway, we asked the waiter for 2 separate checks, one for us and one for our friend. He was visibly annoyed. His service was fine, but cold and impersonal. However, on the plus side, the food was excellent and plentiful. But if we're going to pay $100 for a special meal, the waiter should at the very least be friendly. And what is the big deal about doing separate checks? "

  • "Dined here on Easter. The usual Sunday special of 3 courses for $19 still applied. The cream of red bell pepper and French onion soups were delicious. My roasted leg of lamb, served with onion mashed potatoes and gravy was tougher than I would have liked but very tasty. My partner's lamb was perfectly tender and delicious. The home made sorbet with ginger snap was refreshing and light. The dense lemon cake with strawberries was also good. One thing missing was a green vegetable, so we shared a side of roasted asparagus ($5). A classical guitarist played lovely background music. The service was friendly and attentive. Large wine list. Parking is only 6 spaces, but you can park on the streets on Sunday for free."
