One comment is there were no French red wines for sale by the glass, and a limited selection overall, to enjoy with our meal.   • "The crab cake served with a memorable sauce is reason enough to go back again. The octopus appetizer was prepared perfectly and mussels had a very tasty broth perfect for bread dipping with the warm, house-made bread. Seated in a booth in the bar area served a dual purpose of a great experience & watching a Final Four game too. Having country music playing before the George Strait concert at the Pepsi Center showed attention to detail that added to the experience. Every time we have dined at Coohills, the owner/chef is overlooking the kitchen & service as he greets guests. We highly recommend Coohill's for a quiet romantic dinner in the attractive dining area or for more interaction with the staff, try sitting at the chef's table or bar."

  • "I thought the food and service were great the portions were a nice size and a nice presentation. My girlfriend thought the wine by the glass was too expensive. I didn't care for the room I thought it was too small and the overall ambience was not all that favorable for couples compared to other restaurants in that price range. So although it was a nice dinner I probably would not go back."

  • "We reserved a table for 10 in the bar area so that we could gather with friends before a Denver Nuggets game. The location was perfect as it is directly across the street from the Pepsi Center. We arrived early, but our table was ready and we were seated immediately. Each of the owners of the restaurant came to our table to greet us and to thank us for visiting their restaurant. We were very impressed by this. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was great, we loved the atmosphere and our group had a wonderful time. We enjoyed our experience at Coohill's so much that we returned after the game for cocktails and to socialize. The bar area had a good crowd and great energy, We can't wait to go back again soon!"

  • "More specific about service-the bartender fabulous! the hostess very friendly & accommodating; our server the problem. She had a chip on her shoulder. We were told you can get the bar menu in both the bar or dining room. We chose the dining room but were told by the server the bar menu was not an option. She was very condescending & snobby towards our party. She also would not have our food "fired" until we were completely done w/ appetizers. We had asked her to go ahead & get things started cause we had an event to go to & this request was met w/ an attitude. Aside from her though, it was a great restaurant & food was great. If we go to Coohills again, we will choose to sit in the bar area or make sure we have a different server."

  • "Tom Coohill has won so many awards, and some very exclusive ones, but the only way you would know is by trying his innovative dishes and reading about him on the restaurant's web site. He is a very down to earth guy who 'lives' at his restaurant. This month of March, 2014 had a special menu reflecting the different regions of France and the food was amazing. I'm not a 'comfort food' kind of diner but what he did with chicken and mashed potatoes was anything but bland comfort food. And everything, is made from scratch and on-site. This is a top 3 restaurant in Denver and a must visit for foodies. Best choices are the home made Pate, any preparation of duck, steak and seafood. The bonus is an innovative and unique cocktail menu!"

  • "You know those tasting menus, where you get 6 or 7 items, and several are just not very good, and the ones you like you get about 1-1/2 bites of? So we got the tasting menu with 10 courses, expecting to like 6 or 7. Much to my stomach's dismay, THEY WERE ALL EXCELLENT! And the portions ranged from 3-6 bites each. This was our first visit here, and I would assume the regular menu items were as good. But if you like Tasting Menus, and think you have had some good ones, I challenge you to try Coohills'. You will not be disappointed."

  • "Very nice comfortable dining, not too casual. Great wine list, Server made a great recommendation pairing with our dinner choices. Foie Gras was as good as I've had in France. Braised short ribs were excellent as was the salmon, and you can't go wrong with any of their desserts especially their Stranahan whisky bread pudding. A great dining experience. We went to three 5280 Restaurant Week restaurants and this was the best."

  • "1st time to Coohills during restaurant week and we were very happy with the choice. Food was very good and flavorful with the crab cake being a top hit. I had the gnocchi and while flavorful and a unique blend of texture and flavors the dumplings were too dense, so a slight execution flaw there. Others were very happy with their salmon and short ribs and the dessert while simple was very good. Service was a little slow at times to get water refills etc but I don't like to use restaurant week as a true gauge of a restaurant. The room is nicely setup and not so noisy when full that you can't hear yourself think. I will be back to try the regular menu."

  • "Delicious soup and salad. Had to have them bring it back as it came out before our $18 single crab cake - which in all fairness was great. Appropriate silverware before food was served would have been appreciated. Waitress seemed bored and going through the motions - much different from a tremendous waitress at Colt and Grey just a few days earlier. Short rib and bread pudding were also very good! Get better servers - gladly trade slightly better food for significantly better service."

It was all due to the service, ok and the crabcake, but mainly the service. Very attentive, friendly, and knowledgable.   • "I had very high expectionas for Coohills, having heard so much about it from friends. I was a little disappointed in the food-we went during restaurant week so the selection was limited. The waiter (Sam) who helped us gave me a reccomendation that I didn't take-the gnocchi. I ordered the beef short rib. I just didn't find it very tasty. I thought it was bland and with pomme puree-just overall mushy. My two friends loved their food to be fair-short rib and salmon. We each had one of the starters-and we all pleased with those. The bread pudding for dessert was okay-nothing special. Considering the normal prices at CooHills, I may try them for brunch, but I was not impressed enough to go back and pay full price for dinner."

  • "I did not like the onions soup. Although it did not have much in the way of recognizable onions, the onion taste was overpowering and unpleasant. However the steak was a different story. It was cooked medium rare as I had requested plus it had an unusual and very tasty sauce on it. The mashed potatoes and beans inder the steak were okay but just ordinary. The only problem was that both the steak as well as the potatoes we're just barely warm. Perhaps this latter problem could be blamed on being extra busy during 5280 week. Finally, they had a great bread pudding for dessert, I forget what type of sauce was on it. So overall, a mixed experience. I don't know if the bread pudding is on the regular menu, but if it is, get it."

  • "A friend was visiting from California, and we decided to take advantage of Denver's Restaurant Week. Sometimes during restaurant week, you sense that the restaurant staff is overloaded with the volume and the food isn't up to their normal standards. But, not at Coohills! Our waiter was professional and made us feel like we were the only people in the place. The restaurant week menu was put together very well by the chef to highlight their strengths/style while keeping the price to the $30 per person limit. They get it - restaurant week is a perfect opportunity to create an unforgettable experience that will makes you add Coohills to your short list of the best restaurants in Denver. I will be back...again and again and again!"

  • "Coohills is a worth checking out, the food is top notch. The service is great and the sunset can be spectacular if you have the right seat. Parking is difficult and the location is in one of those that if this place wasn't so good they might've closed their doors by now. Would recommend trying the crab cake, pretty amazing. I can still taste the favors in my mouth a couple days later. Nice selection of Bourbon and Rye too!"

For a Friday night, it was quiet both in the bar and in the restaurant area which was not was I was seeking. My wife liked her Coba. The lamb in the cassoulet was a bit tough. Wine list was fair."

  • "I love this place--definitely one of my favorite Denver restaurants. I've gone several times and the food has always been outstanding. The waiter and chef worked together to accommodate some special dietary needs of my group (vegan and gluten-free, etc.) and no one felt like they were missing out on delicious dishes because of any modifications. Their private dining room is also great for larger groups and special occasions. I arranged a professional dinner here and it was very well received and Coohills staff was so helpful and friendly."

  • "The location and ambience were great - we loved the bar area and dining area as well. Very nicely maintained and fun, up beat "attitude". The food was pretty good, interesting menu choices - howevery outrageously expensive - for the very small amount of food. We left hungry after paying a very large tab. Would not go back for that reason - nor will we recommend to anyone with a normal appetite."

  • "We arrived 15 minutes early for a 7:00 reservation. We attempted to get a drink a the bar, however were never able to gain the attention of the bar staff despite repeated attempts. At 6:50 I checked in again to make sure the hostess knew where we were - still unable to get a drink. 7:10 I checked again only to be told by another young lady that we'd already been seated according to their system... 7:20 seated. 7:30 our server arrived, very nice young lady, who took our drink orders. My wife's wine was poured within about 5 minutes and we placed our remaining food orders. My draft beer did not arrive for another 20 minutes, in the mean time our appetizer was delivered. 8:20, almost an hour after our order was placed, our entrees arrived..."
