  • "We had a great evening at Bouche. The staff is very professional and the ambiance is lovely but the food is the draw. Grilled octopus was good, not great. 3 very tiny pieces that although grilled nicely could have been enhanced with a bit more flavor - even a drizzle of great olive oil would have helped. The black mussels w/ a touch of red chile were the star attraction! Going back here to have the mussels as an entree - sopping it all up the best bread in Santa Fe. Very good chicken paillard, nicely spiced and perfect for a summer evening. This restaurant is a real plus for the SF food scene - definitely recommend it."

  • "Boucher has really come into its own. Classic French Bistro feel. Wonderful server. Former owner of Aqua Santa, Brian Knox's yeast starter leads to incredible bread. Charles Dale has a great mood and appears to be genuinely interested in diners' experience and enjoyment of his food. On our Santa Fe regular list now."

  • "The dining at Bouche is a wonderful experience, with persoanlable service, a chic environment and delicious food. The best tartare and lapin this side of Paris. I can't wait to return."

  • "Excellent Bouillabaisse on the 14th along with great frog legs, veggie terrine and an new expanded wine list make for an enjoyable hint of Paris in Santa Fe~"

  • "Authentic French bistro in a local neighborhood. The Steak au Poivre was well seasoned with fresh herbs and gentle peppercorns. The Bouillabaisse was not that great.Shrimps were tough but sweet, haddock was nicely done, squid was overcooked, mussels were not completely cleaned- Nicoise Tuna was great but Heirloom Tomato salad overdressed and small. Profiterole had great ice cream and cocoa syrup but the pastry was tough. The Strawberry tart had great creme anglaise but again the pastry was tough. Like many of Santa Fe's higher end restaurants, they are trying very hard but the service is lacking (waitstaff could not pronounce names of dishes at a French restaurant) and the quality of food preparation is uneven."

  • "Bouche was our choice for dinner on our last night of a 10 day stay in Santa Fe. We did not have a bad meal anywhere, but I would rate Bouche as one of the top two restaurants we visited (along with Joseph's Bisto). You have an option of entrees or small plates, and my wife and I opted to share salad, grilled octopus, frog legs and escargot. All were excellent, and the service was impeccable. The chef comes out to visit with guests every hour or so, and the outdoor ambiance was great. They also offered a larger than usual selection of half bottles of wine, which was perfect. All in all, we will be back!"

  • "Loved the open kitchen, friendly attention, including by the owner/chef, and delicious and fresh food. We all ordered something different and everything was delicious, light, and inventive. Dessert was also a winner. We can't wait to go back to this casual and upscale French bistro."

  • "...continues at Bouche. A lovely chilled cucumber and avocado soup w/ shrimp and a thoughtful salad niçoise with shaved tuna and perfectly cooked eggs start the meal. A seared California sea bass, perfectly cooked and the menu mushroom raviolis w/ spring peas complimented our bottle of 2012 Sancerre. Excellent and friendly service, as always, and a new and expanded wine selection make Bouche a must for visitors craving a 'chili-free' evening, and locals alike."

  • "Beer and wine only. Let me be clear - ONE French beer available. I realize this is a french restaurant, but France is not where I go for good beer, it was terrible and it was the ONLY option. The service was fine. The chairs outside, deathly uncomfortable. The food was good but a little expensive. I've had comparable meals here. My friend who had the mussels definitely ordered the best thing at the table. All in all a very so-so experience. Not sure what all the rave is about. For a French Bistro I'd much rather go to 315."

  • "This restaurant is a find and we highly recommend if you are a French food fan. From mussels, frites, frog legs, sweetbreads and escargot all prepared in the French way. Magnafique! While crowded and a bit noisy we still enjoyed."

  • "When I read the previous reviews for this restaurant , I was surprised of how much food people were ordering. I ended up ordering as much food as they did. Two courses for me and two courses for my wife, plus desserts. We ate the very last bite. The food was fantastic: I had the Tenderloin Steak Tartare and the Frog Legs Provencal-style - out of this world. And the Demerara Crème Brûlée, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. The wine list was very long (by my standards) and I started to get lost in it, but we were saved by a very nice server who told us they also have beer. But only one kind. The Kronenbourg 1664. Well, this is my favorite beer, so no apologies needed here. Spot on."

  • "The night we were there it was obvious that they were short staffed - even the chef was bringing food to the table. They were total pros, never missing a beat in service. The food was exceptional as always. The grilled octopus and halibut were outstanding along with the truffle pomme frites. I can't say enough good things about Bouche. Kudos from a local Santa Fean...can't wait until the next fabulous meal."

  • "Chef Charles and his team do a fabulous job.... The lower rating for ambience was because Mother Nature sent high winds and rain storm, which affected being able to sit on the deck and having to move in!,,, would highly recommend and will return on my next trip to Santa Fe!!!"

  • "Chef Dale and his team make you feel like they've invited you in to their home. Great hospitality, service and fabulous food. I had just been in Paris for 3 weeks and our experience at Bouche was an authentic Bistro experience. Both vibe and food!"

  • "What stood out about Bouche Bistro to me was the freshness of the ingredients. Many of the ingredients came from their garden or from local farms and the crispness and flavor of the vegetables and spices were special. The preparation of the meal was excellent. Our server, Maddie was friendly and attentive and helped us with the menu. Would recommend the halibut for the main course and the profiteroles were the best we have ever had."

  • "Halibut is the best I've had, anywhere. Creme brulee is both creative and wonderful. No music which made for a terrific evening. No guests had raised their voices to talk/hear. This is the best dining experience in Santa Fe, and I've seen them all. The service is exceptional from the time you walk in the door until you leave. Finally, a wine by the glass menu with a Cotes Du Rhone."

  • "Nicely paced, sized, serviced, and prepared. A classic little french bistro in a lovely SW setting, just across the river from Our Lady of Guadalupe. Very friendly staff. Small parking lot and a small but thoughtful wine list. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the mussels with the truffle pomme frits. The heirloom tomato salad with buratta was nicely done as was the strawberry tart for dessert."

  • "We eat out a lot, and this is our favorite place in Santa Fe by a mile. Both the indoor and outdoor dining spaces are fabulous, and the service has been impeccable each time we have been. The food is excellent. The organ meats excel, but even the more every day finds (steak, chicken) are fabulously prepared. The cheese tots are addictive."

  • "Chef's food preparation is superb. I, however, wish there were lighter choices on the menu -- far too many heavy dishes like fois gras, sweetbreads, steak and frites. I had a hard time choosing and finally settled on mussels. My husband chose the tartar and was surprised to see that it did not come with toast points which were, however, provided upon request."

  • "Upside: food was very good, but did not "wow" us. Nice ambiance. Downside: $120/1 app,1entree,1 side/2 glasses wine. Service was spotty @ best & we had to flag server for forgotten side. Dirty dishes were left to sit on table. FINALLY, although noted in res, our Anniversary was never acknowledged!"

  • "We enjoyed a great evening. Paul and the service team were very friendly and helpful. Attentive, but not invasive. The food was excellent. Had the swordfish special + the standby beef short rib. Top shelf wine at top shelf $$. Would recommend as a special occasion experience."

  • "We were celebrating our anniversary and it was truly a memorable experience! The food was phenomenal! My only critique would be that the waiter rushed us a little, but we just let him know that we were there to dine!!!"

  • "The summer patio keeps Bouche busy while the consistent, simple French cooking keeps the tongue wagging. We love the new frog leg preparation (Provencal) and the lemon tart is markedly improved since it was first introduced onto the menu a couple months ago. Good, small wine list and smiling service keep us going back...see you there later this week!"

  • "Santa Fe foodie heaven. Attentive and knowledgable waiters. Great wine list with good price range. Chef makes the rounds. When the town fills up with the summer festivals, be sure to have made your reservations."

  • "We were recommended to eat here by a gentleman in a gallery and we were happy that we changed from our previous reservation. From the warm welcome upon entering the restaurant to final taste of our meal. The chef came out several times to check on everyone. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and appropriately friendly/polite. The room is perfect for a bistro: warm and inviting and comfortable. My husband and I shared the grilled octopus starter (perfectly cooked and delicious) and a wonderful frisee, lardon and egg salad. For our entrees: I enjoyed a tasty mushroom ravioli and my husband had the second to last lamb t-bone (special that evening) that he devoured. The sides with his entree were also very good. We would go again."

  • "My husband took me to Bouche Bistro for my birthday. It was lovely. The restaurant is small and intimate, the decor relaxing. The menu is very French; escargots, frog legs, foie gras, bone marrow...also steak and fries, fish, a seafood platter, vegetarian dish, salads, etc., plus nightly specials; something for the adventurous and something for the not so adventurous palate. The desserts (if you have room for them) are wonderful. Everything we had was perfectly prepared, the service was excellent, Chef Dale came by our table to chat, and we had a lovely evening; highly recommended."

  • "Fun and energetic. The staff is extremely enthusiastic about the menu- with good reason. This restaurant really made me feel like I was in a bistro in Paris. The food was absolutely delicious!"

  • "Bouche was a pleasant surprise. Hospitality was top notch, really great! Chef, host and server were all engaging and warm. Mesclun salad (just greens and vinaigrette) was over priced at $10. Steak tartar treatment was not my favorite; steak was mushy with an overwhelming mustard taste. Prefer a coarser grind with condiments on the side to provide texture as desired. Delas Cote du Rhone was excellent. Hospitality would bring me back but $140 tab without tip for good but not great food would deter me."

  • "I come to Santa Fe about once a year, and always found excellent food. Bouche Bistro was recommended by an artist visiting San Jose. We were seated promptly. The server was extremely helpful and patient. I chose frog legs and mussels. Both were excellent. The frog legs were tender and flavorful. The best I can ever recall. I am a mussels freak , and always expect them to be good. These were better than that. The chef's nod to New Mexico was the chiles used to flavor the mussels. It is easy to overcook mussels, but these were cooked to perfection. An added bonus? they have a parking lot. Not a easy thing to find in Santa Fe."

  • "We celebrated our 10 year anniversary and the food was amazing. Appetizers were Bone Marrow & Escargot. Main Course was Beef Shortrib & Sweetbreads. Both of which were tender and tasty. Lastly deserts topped a fine experience with Chocolate Cherry Breadpudding and Creme Brûlée with what appeared to be a fine gram cracker crust which took it over the top. Overall a great and affordable fine dining experience. "

  • "Excellent asparagus soup (can't wait to have it cold perhaps?), perfectly cooked halibut and steak au poivre; tasty and rich calve's liver and nicely tempered steak tartare (chips were soggy tho) along with the great service make Bouche a regular for us and many other Santa Feans. End with a puckery good lemon tart and a profiterole and your night will complete!"

  • "One of Santa Fe's best dinning experiences. Great variety of traditional French cooking. Seafood and meats prepared in sauces you need to dip the excellent bread in to finish every morsel. Small and large plates and and a very reasonable wine list."

  • "The food is to die for -- fresh ingredients and expert preparation, the restaurant if run efficiently with prompt seating and service. The noise level can be high with some guests not knowing how to have an unobtrusive conversation with their dining partners -- extremely annoying and rude."
