  • "We enjoyed the warm welcome and the lovely ambience of the restaurant. Service was excellent and we appreciated the delicious bread as we looked at the menu. Nice wine list with good selection of wines by the glass. Each course was very good, presentation was simple. We will look forward to trying again once the weather is warmer and the patio is open!"

  • "If you don't mind being crammed into tight spaces, and can't carry on a conversation because of the noise level you might enjoy the food. The mussels were undercooked, the onion soup didn't have the heft that we enjoy in a good onion soup. The profiteroles were quite generous and good. We did not appreciate the way the bill was presented on an electronic tablet which would prefigure your tip at either 18% or 20%. If you wished to figure your own tip it was kind of a deal. (And what are they figuring the % on? We prefer to tip on pre-tax amounts.) The whole thing seemed like a pretentious, east-coast experience instead of a laid back Southwestern one. No thanks for a return visit. "

  • "The food was fantastic and the excellent staff was helpful, friendly and patient. Definitely going back! To OpenTable: you have a typo in #2 above, "Great for Bunch"."

  • "A superb local bistro remains our favorite 'go-to' in Santa Fe, with friendly service and a lively atmosphere to accent the very good food. A couple slight improvements could be made to; the bread...while still fragrant and fresh, has become less crusty and unctuous over the past several months. We want the wonderful crustiness back, please! Also, the vegetable terrine was served cold, not room temperature or even cool, and this has occurred more than once so we thus hesitate to recommend it (thought the idea is good and something of the sort should be offered as an appetizer). Friendly service, an enthusiastic sommelier and cheery chef Charles round out a great respite from Santa Fe chiles!"

  • "Return visit to Bouche did not disappoint. Stellar escargots! Delicious Halibut and killer profiteroles! The bread is the best you will ever have! Service was perfection! Will return soon!"

  • "We found a little gem in the neighborhood and liked it so much we made another reservation for a guest chef dinner before we left that night."

  • "This is the third time we have eaten at Bouche Bistro and the food was excellent as usual. The chef always stops by to check on the meal and the staff is always checking to make sure everything is fine. We visit Santa Fe regularly and Bouche Bistro is one of our favorite spots to eat."

  • "We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal, with excellent wines available from a good selection. I checked Neighborhood Gem as it is a short walk from the heart of Santa Fe. Chef Charles Dale had created a monkfish entree for the evening that was delightful, the tuna carpaccio salad nicoise was delicious, and the sorbet perfectly smooth and very flavorful. Service was very attentive but not hovering."

  • "Bouche has a wonderful menu, service is great especially for Santa Fe and the atmosphere is charming. Two things to be aware of are that the restaurant has very limited parking and any spaces close not on property are reserved for other entities. Bouche should go ahead and negotiate with Vanessie and pay for a little more parking and not suggest that "many people like to walk". Also, center of the restaurant tables for two are so close to neighbors, you are really dining with them."

  • "Food was great, service wonderful bu the noise level really distracted from the whole experience."

  • "I don't normally bother reviewing restaurants, but I enjoyed Bouche so much that I feel I must. Bouche has a cozy Bistro ambiance with an open kitchen. The cassoulet was the best I have had since first being introduced to it in Caracassonne, France in 1975! The service was excellent. A bit on the pricy side though. Dinner for two was $200, however this did include wine and desert. That said. I don't mind paying more if I get more for it, and I definitely did get a cut above at Bouche. Definitely going back."

  • "This little gem of a restaurant is outstanding. The menu changes twice a year. The food and service are excellent. The owner is very visible and gives each table special attention. There is something for everyone ."

  • "Bouche is not exactly in the center of town, but it's an easy walk from there and well worth the effort. It's a friendly place and strikes me as more of a destination for locals than for tourists. We were the latter, but a friend who spends much of her time in Santa Fe gave us the recommendation. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait for ten minutes for our table, which was fine since we were seated and the owner came by and chatted with us. A lovely fellow, clearly in his element. The restaurant was full, and even though there were large groups of people, the noise level was acceptable. The menu was not extensive, but the selections were excellent. My daughter had three small dishes, and I had an entree. All four were memorable."

  • "The food was excellent s well as the service, top quality from beginning to end. Fantastic homemade bread, beautiful seafood, rich and delicious French quisine. My only crtique is that for a non- red meat eater the menu is very limited. I would highly recommend Bouche to anyone and I would love to see a couple of more choices for someone like me!"

  • "Excellent food, well prepared and served with grace. Very good wine list. The restaurant is smallish, crowded and the noise level is high which makes for a less intimate place. The staff is very welcoming."

  • "The closeness of the Kitchen to the seating felt very much like a charming little bistro on a corner in Paris. There was a small wait for my group but the staff was more than accommodating to us, providing champagne and the first available seats. The food was spectacular both in taste and presentation. There is absolutely no reason you would leave without a 5 star experience!"

  • "Bouche Bistro proves that delightful things come in small packages. This is the epitome of a intimate cozy Parisian bistro where locals gather for a lovely intimate evening atop a welcoming Persian rug. The service is impeccable without being intrusive, and the food is to die for -- simple delicious tuna carpaccio, flavor popping cassoulet with pork belly, duck confit, and lamb shank (how French can you get?), fork tender melt-in-your-mouth short rib, followed by a perfect creme broulee and lemon sorbet with vanilla ice cream. Bouche Bistro has it all for a perfect evening, and we hope it is here forever!"

  • "Food is among best in Santa Fe (which is saying a lot) . Many "regulars" , who appear to be "foodies" . Altho busy , service was rapid enough to meet our theater commitment ."
    Dined on 2/1/2014
  • "The food and service was very good and the portions were smaller than the usual that restaurants serve, which was a welcome change. While preparation and presentation were excellent, there are a couple of downsides. The salads were served cold, the entree plates were not warmed before food placement, the so-called pommes frites were shoestring not properly prepared (double fried) and served without an accompanying sauce. In addition, the wines by the glass list was very short on selections. Overall however, the food was very good as was the service."

  • "Bouche was wonderful last Tuesday, not too busy and super service and food as usual. Great pork shank w/ chard and squash puree...tender and succulent. The tuna carpaccio salad was very fresh, if served just a bit too cold, and a great dish for summer as well. We commend the Bouche team for their continued commitment to their craft!"

  • "Incredible food and service. Responsive and excellent suggestions for all courses. Warm and friendly atmosphere. We felt as honored guests at someone's home."

  • "Very well executed classic bistro fare (the fresee salad was a star). Thoughtful wine list. Service was competent and noise level manageable for a small space. Only quibble would be in the presentation of the menus (small sheets on the table) and no table linens. Overall a very enjoyable evening and expertly executed dishes."

  • "Charles Dale's French bistro continues to lead the pack in Santa Fe dining. Traditional dishes well prepared, friendly service, nice small wine list."
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "But the clientele was pretentious and much too loud. It seemed like the diners were all trying to out-name-drop each other. Ugh. It was really cold, and I don't get cold easily! My partner had the lamb shank special and it was rather dry, especially for lamb. Not sure if the bread was supposed to be served not warm, but it was actually cold, not just room temperature. The table with a dish on it was much too high for the bench seats, which could have been remedied by folding a jacket and sitting on it except we had to wear one to stay at a comfortable temperature. The wine was fantastic. The server was amazing!!! The escargot was amongst the best I've had in North America. The desserts were above average. Other patrons were obnoxious."

  • "We had the escargot and a caesar to start and both were perfect. Warm croutons on the latter and the former were plump little morsels of favor drowned in a buttery basil sauce. Our mains were the half order of mussels and the short ribs. The biggest mussels i've ever seen served in a restaurant, not to mention a restaurant in the desert. The beef short ribs could be eaten with a spoon and the creamy horseradish was perfection, ( I could eat it with a spoon by itself). Great meal, caring staff, and wonderful little french bistro atmosphere. Will definitely return."

  • "While the service staff was delightful, the food was definitely a disappointment. I had the "short rib" which looked and tasted like it had been prepared in a pressure cooker. No sign of being braised slowly for hours. My friend had a steak that was tough and overcooked. The steak tartare and sorbet were superb. Too bad the rest of the meal wasn't up to snuff."

  • "As usual our experience was thoroughly enjoyable, we always return with high expectations and are never disappointed. All the staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Can't wait for our next visit!"

  • "Wow! We went to Bouche Bistro the other night with friends and it was amazing! We started with a WONDERFUL wine (we ended up having THREE bottles), then we shared the Charcuterie plate. The bread was to die for! Our friends had the escargot and sweet breads while my husband and I had a Caesar salad and tuna carpaccio. For dinner I had the mussels (wonderful) and my husband had the Sturgeon. He said the fish was delicious and that those were the best mashed potatoes OF HIS LIFE. I can't remember what my friends had…..I was enjoying my dinner too much! This place gets an A++ from us! We can't WAIT to go back!"

  • "We had a great dining experience. Went during Restaurant Week so got a great deal for 3 course meal. Three of our party had escargot to start -- delicious! One person had frog legs -- good but not fantastic. The bread is amazing -- they make it themselves. Mussels, cassoulet, steak and monkfish -- all wonderful main courses. Generous portions. And then dessert!! A special mousse made with Nutella was sublime. And the profiteroles with the most perfect chocolate sauce were not bad either. All in all, highly recommend it."

    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "This was near the end of restaurant week, so perhaps our experience was not at all typical. We had heard very positive things about Bouche. The menu was wonderful and varied. The fish of the day was beautifully prepared and very good. The profiterole for dessert was also delicious. The bread was fresh and hearty with a great crust. However, the salad was laden with dressing, the crust on the creme brulee was slightly burnt, and the beef tasted 'off' (note: they felt there was nothing wrong, but readily comped it)."

  • "We had a flavorful meal here and will go again soon."

  • "We went for restaurant week and could not have enjoyed it more. It was my first time there but I felt welcomed like an old friend. Service was great and the food even better. Their baked in house bread was great - could have made a meal out of just that. Can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu - it all looked good. So glad I tried this place - thank you for participating in Restaurant Week."

  • "The food was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. The restaurant is small and the tables are very close together making conversation difficult."

  • "This was my "winner of SF restaurant week." Although the place is very small and our 8p reservation (along with about four others, it appeared) could not be honored, the wait was handled so well by all the staff that it was not an issue nor a burden. We (along with others waiting) were regularly recognized and assured of their attention, given a complimentary glass of champagne for the wait, and attentively served once seated. This is a very small place, but run extremely well - professional, but with a comfortable neighborhood vibe. Excellent fish and dessert dishes, look forward to returning regularly during the coming year. Oh, the bread and butter were outstanding!"

  • "It was fairly amazing to have the executive chef about whom I have read for years, to take our orders during a busy restaurant week night at the restaurant. Paul, the restaurant manager, made sure that we were comfortable and happy while we waited for our table, during our delicious dinner and chatted with us afterward. Even one of the chefs (?Eslin) kept smiling at us as he worked and stopped by to ask about our meal and say hello on his way out the door for the night. The food and wine were truly excellent, but the service was uniquely outstanding. We will be back, with friends."

  • "This was my 4th time dining at Bistro Bouche. I keep going back because the food is spectacular and the wait staff actually knows how to maximize a dining experience. This time was a fixed price menu celebrating New Mexico Restaurant Week. Chef Charles was not to be outdone, conjuring up a three-course special of fois gras, mussels and the finale, Creme Brulee. A great wine list adds to the occasion. We called up one of our favorites, ARhone-style Californian called "Melee"."

  • "Wonderful food in a lovely, warm and very French bistro. Started out with frogs legs and escargot. Both were excellent. Followed with cassoulet and the mussels. Very generous portions and both were quite good. Nice wine list at reasonable prices. Profiteroles and creme brûlée for desert were delicious. Service was attentive but not annoying. Will go again very soon!"
