Bouche BistroGood for tourists from out of townAlthough the service was excellent, the dishes were plentiful but the ingredients lacked quality. My steak was over cooked. The atmosphere was very loud, at one point I was shouting our order to the waiter who was reading my lips to understand the dessert that we preferred. I feel that most tourists would find this a good fit, it is not a local place.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, nice ambienceMost of the food was outstanding, simple but perfectly prepared. The outdoor dining was pleasant, although a bit noisy. Nice wine selection. I will definitely be back.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSanta Fe GemAn innovative and well done take on theClassic French Bistro!!! A well done wine list with reasonable prices. Tis was our first visit to Bouche and we will be back again AND again!!!!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMyumBouche was perfect, from the auberge atmosphere to the yummy foie gras. The service was perfect.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAs we supped, we fully expectedAs we supped, we fully expected Jack Nicholson to sail in with his silk scarf reminiscent of the Parisian bistro scene of 'Something's Gotta Give'. This bistro gives a whole new twist to the expression, "& the dish ran away with the spoon"!!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinerWe enjoyed our dinner and were glad we were able to eat outside. We were told by previous diners that inside was noisy. The only complaint we have is the presentation of the seafood platter was underwhelming and the crab was inedible.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVive La BoucheYay, wonderful service and oustanding food is back in town. It reminded me of the old Chez Renee days when I was growing up. Chez Renee was the place to go for a very special meal. Bouche will be too if they continue the gold standard we experienced. The presentation is beautiful, the service is very attentive and the menu varied enough without being overwhelming. We had skate, a mild white fish we'd never heard of. I would have it again, as I would the frog leg/ravioli appetizer. The whole dining experience was exceptional. Congratulations Bouche and thank you for the lovely evening.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMReservationsYour system did not provide an option for inside or outside seating. It was too chilly outside for us so we left. We made reservations the next day for inside seating and had a fabulous experience.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBouche pour vous boucheFoie gras was delicious, enjoyed with an very nice Sauterne. Excellent glutenous bread. Sweetbreads were excellent, according to my wife, and being able to select a smaller portion was appreciated. My calve's liver was also delicious, and an ample portion.
Nice to be able to select a good wine by the glass (glad to see Cahors on the menu). We're sure the desserts would have been equally enjoyable, but we were pleasantly satisfied and opted not to indulge.
We will return.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodWonderful food. Perhaps the best overall restaurant in Santa Fe. Very talented chef. Creative meals and fine, unobtrusive service.
Highly recommneded5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat New Spot in a Foodie TownWonderful new hot spot in Santa Fe which is full of good restaurants. We were greeted by the chef/owner as we walked in the door. The open kitchen lets you see and smell the fabulous menu options. We were seated on the newly opened patio which felt like a comfortable French country bistro. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal and all vowed to return.
Reservations are a most this cozy little gem. While the patio doubles the seating in the warm months, there were no empty tables on our visit!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA delightful addition to Santa FeWe've been big fans of chef Charles Dale's work since he was at Terra. So we were delighted to see him open in the former Aqua Santa space. The menu is classic bistro style, executed to perfection. We felt for the evening like we were in Paris. The outdoor dining area is comfortable on summer evenings, but be aware of the sun. When we dined there the shade had not yet been installed (it was due the next week).5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBouche Bistro, May 2013Wonderful food and wine. However, this is a small restaurant, and outdoor dining in sunny weather was uncomfortable, as adequate shade could not be found. Would also add that the service is attentive, but unobtrusive, and the waiters try to avoid being 'over-friendly'.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe couldn't have been happier!!!!What a delight the new Bouche restaurant is. Clean décor, simple menu, and the best mussels I've ever eaten, even in Nice! My husbands halibut was cooked to perfection and the warm crème demerara cream brulee was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. So glad we have this new gem in town!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent bistro food GoodExcellent bistro food Good Wine list Loved sitting outdoors on the patio5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealWe had a wonderful meal, our server, Andrea, was knowledgeable and friendly.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitress assumed I wasOur waitress assumed I was driving, although I was the only woman at the table so when I ordered a third glass of wine she said I shouldn't have one. First of all, we all walked to the restaurant. Secondly, it was offensive and embarrassing. Way out of line.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBouche Bistro rocks!I have been to the restaurant twice...............and will continue to return so I can eat my way through the entire menu. Everything so far is outstanding. The Chef is every present; and makes sure all diners are happy and satisfied. I would rate this the best dining experience in Santa Fe.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressive! This is a perfect restaurant! Great, classic French Bistro, cozy, warm, delicious, flavorful, great service and reasonable. We sampled many of the dishes and were impressed by the finish, flavor and quality of the preparations.
Wine list is sophisticated and well priced. My wife and I are very experienced world wide diners, Bouche Bistro is a major quality addition to the Santa Fe restaurant scene.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMZEV GUBERI'm torn. I hate to see this become the hottest restaurant in Santa Fe, because it might make it impossible to ever get in again,
Near perfection! Bouche Bistro would be top if it was in Paris, London, New York, and you'd never find it in LA. The tarte tatain divine, the duck confit marvelous....5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not excellentThe food was good - my wife had halibut and I had salmon. Both fish were OK, but lacked a distinctive flavor. For desert, we had profiteroles. They were large, but again simply vanilla (sic) ice cream, with nothing special to recommend. They need to replace the napkins with decent (lint-free) ones. The bad - we had decaf coffee that turned out to be full of caffeine - this is highly inconsiderate and irresponsible. Get your act together, guys!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe accolades are warranted!Fantastic restaurant with great food and service! I have already passed along my recommendation to all my friends and we'll be back! We booked before the Pasatiempo review and only saw it the day we visited. It is well earned!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious French food!Looking for a place to celebrate a landmark anniversary before a special trip, we settled on Bouche for the food. Good choice! Everything was exceptionally well prepared and fresh. DH's pork special was fork tender and the polenta really good, and my grouper was crispy on the outside moist on the inside. Perfect!
A small nitpick, not terribly impressed with the wine list, but this is typical of new restaurants. The prices were reasonable for a SF restaurant, but the wines are all young. Best bet would be some French Rose', meant to drink young and is good with almost everything. Too bad we can't BYO.
Chef Dale tries for a real French Bistro experience, and he has succeeded. Cozy and raucous, just as it should be.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFine French Bistro restaurantFine French Bistro restaurant with simple food, excellently prepared with an exceptional flavor. Special note for this diner was the Rose from Provence.
Ambience was warm and inviting including the wait staff and the owner.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall experienceBouche was a very pleasant surprise. It exceeded all of our expectations. One of the reasons for this extremely successful new badly needed restaurant in Santa Fe is that Chef Dale is ever present without being too in your space. Can't wait to go back.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat New Santa Fe RestaurantCharles Dale, chef de cuisine, has done it again, this time bringing his taste and skill directly to the public and under his own name. Every item from apetizer desert both a surprise and a hit. What more can you ask? Bravissimo!!!!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Dining ExperienceThis recently opened spot is superbly done. The dining area is small and creates an intimate feeling. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. The spirit of the place is vibrant and thoughtfully executed in every detail. We enjoyed a rich French onion soup and herb ravioli with a crispy frog leg to start. Our delicious entrees were halibut and black mussels with garlic spinach and roasted kale as sides. Every gas a perfect expression of the flavor of fresh ingredients and intelligent preparation. The only off note to the meal were the desserts. These were tasty but much too large. We'd recommend sharing the profitarole dessert among three people. Despite the overstuffed ending, this is a great place for a delicious dinner.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely small restaurant withLovely small restaurant with exceptional gourmet entrees, small but grand in their attention to detail.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant opened approximatelThis restaurant opened approximately two months ago and it has been busy ever since. Although a very small room, with banquets surrounding the freestanding tables in the center of the room, the atmosphere is friendly. The menu is limited to bistro classics with two or three specials each night. A very competent wait staff takes great care in serving. The only problem is the noise level, which can very high during peak dining times. In the summer the small outdoor dining area just adjacent to the main dining room will open, which should help alleviate the noise issue. Otherwise, no complaints, it's a friendly place with wonderful food.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBouche was outstanding. ItBouche was outstanding. It is a tiny little venue (indoors) but it has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff (owner/chef included) are genial and lovely. I had two guests unexpectedly added to my evening and Paul (their maitre d') worked hard to accommodate us even though we were first time visitors. Truly a gem and I will go back, repeatedly.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience was wonderful! Our experience was wonderful! Excellent, caring waitstaff, all four entrees were outstanding. The only complaint would have been the noise level but that cannot be helped due to the flooring. And it certainly was an indication that people were having a terrific time! We shall be returning often!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was, as promised,The food was, as promised, a perfect rendition of bistro cooing. We started with oysters which tasted so fresh and briny-- a bit of the ocean to sharpen your appetite. I had the steak frites. the steak was cooked perfectly and so were the frites. the mjssels were wonderful and the tarte tatin was to die for. Our server was efficient , but not omnipresent, friendly but not servile. Everything was simply splindid!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an excellent dinner! We had an excellent dinner! The food was delicious, and the attentiveness of the staff and the Chef was delightful! We will go back because there were so many great choices on the menu and we couldn't try them all at one time!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWait person was nice butWait person was nice but lacking the skills of a server for such a high end Bristro . The food was delicious .the bread was outstanding very fresh.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best of the best!Bouche continues to be the most sought after reservation in the Santa Fe restaurant scene! We've eaten at Bouche several times since they opened and it just keeps getting better and better! Chef Charles Dale is a delight and has made Bouche the place to go! DOn't miss this great restaurant!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBouche Bistro is a gem. AuthenticBouche Bistro is a gem. Authentic French bistro food at reasonable prices. The service is friendly and efficient. The Chef went around to each table to meet his guests. The onion soup was the best I've ever had. The bread is crusty and delicious. Coq au Vin, one of the specials, was wonderful. The place is small and a little noisy. That should be eased once the outside patio is opened. We will definitely go back. It's hard to get reservations because the word is out about how great this restaurant is.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI cannot fermé ma bouche ...I cannot fermé ma bouche ... Charles Dale has created a treasure and treat. The foie gras was exquisite, as was the ambiance and service.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCharles Dale's new spot inCharles Dale's new spot in Santa Fe is fun and fresh.
Classic French bistro menu, great service.
New, but very professional operation. Attention, knowledge.
Small dining room makes reservations a must except very early or late.
Summer patio should be nice too.
Downtown, walkable.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMYou must try this new French bistroOur first visit to this charming French bistro in Santa Fe & we were delighted. Other people must've thought so, too, because the place was jammed. The dining room is small and maximizes the number of tables so the noise level is up there but the atmosphere is friendly & casual & very cheerful. Service is prompt & helpful. The food is the shining star at Bouche Bistro. Everything from the starters (some of the best escargot I've ever had) to the entrees was delicious. My 2 friends & I shared the large seafood platter: a big metal tray filled with ice and topped by a mountain of oysters, jumbo shrimp and crab legs. Being able to serve excellent fresh seafood in our desert town is quite an accomplishment. Highly recommended!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA real winner! This restaurant is still quite new, so we'll see how it weathers over time. But, it certainly is getting off to a great start. Chef Charles Dale was attentive and engaged at all levels, greeting guests, delivering food to tables, asking questions and seeming genuinely interested in the responses. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed, by him and others. There was great energy in the place and the environment quite intimate, bordering on noisy but not so loud that you can't carry on an easy conversation. The service was very efficient and friendly without being intrusive. And, the food was superb. Well prepared with interesting touches. Wine recommendations were excellent, too (be sure to ask the price). Loved the whole experience4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMNewly opened, Bouche BistroNewly opened, Bouche Bistro is on it game already. Excellent, genuinely French food at healthy but not outrageous prices. Solid wine list. Service was great, with highly trained waitstaff. Community table is a terrific idea.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous service and food.Fabulous service and food. Had a great experience at this new restaurant. Will be back. Parking is tough but not unusual for Santa Fe.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, very good wait staff,Friendly, very good wait staff, good food, good wine list---look forward to returning and it will be fun when warmer weather returns to Santa Fe and the patio opens for outdoor dining.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were good.Food and service were good. Wine list could be expanded.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWHAT A GREAT FIND!We dined at Bouche Bistro for my birthday. I could not have wished for a happier and delicious dining experience from the moment we arrived to the end of this our first time dining here. This quickly became our favorite restaurant, to be enjoyed many times in the future!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious French food in Santa FeA friend and I very much enjoyed dinner at Bouche recently. The onion soup was outstanding and the Caesar salad delicious with a light, but flavorful dressing. The mussels were done perfectly in a light wine and onion broth and the bistro steak was delivered rare, tender, and very tasty. We thought the apple tarte tatin was extra special, but found the flourless chocolate cake and somewhat watery nutella sauce uninteresting. We enjoyed a delicious Russian River Pinot with our meal. The dining room can get quite noisy at times and will benefit from the summer patio. We were asked to move when our allotted time was up, reminding us we were in America and not France.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI can't wait to go back. TheI can't wait to go back. The mussels were the best I ever had--though my friend's Pot au Feu was melt in your mouth and may tempt me when I return. Who knew brussel sprouts were so good? Bouche Bistro is small--it reminds me of bistros in Paris (though the tables there are even closer together). Our party of four enjoyed everything and didn't notice the noise level--though we had early reservations. Yum!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the wine to the dessert,From the wine to the dessert, all was delicious.
Unfortunately, our group of "seasoned" diners could not hear each other. We will select another table next time.
And we will be back!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTucomplicated, yet sophisticatedWow, what a fabulous eatery. I was so jealous. I thought my short ribs were the best, no comparison. The plate was a work of art. An ample lean piece of tender meat, small al dente carrots and potatoes. The clincher was the gravy/sauce. Want to know the secret.
Finish with the gluten-free chocolate souffle...fantastic. Will return.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcom Back!I love the fact that Charles is back. It was a wonderful experience all around. The service was fantastic and the food cannot be beat. My party of 4 plans to come back often.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
