Black Cat will be hosting a wine dinner with two exciting biodynamic wineries from Italy.
First is San Fereolo from Piemonte, a winery whose commitment to making serious wine from the local dolcetto grape has garnered international recognition. San Fereolo's Dolcetto Superiore wine is aged in casks for 2 years and is one of the most powerful wines being made from the grape today.
The second is Fattoria San Lorenzo from Le Marche. The most fascinating of their wines is the Il San Lorenzo, a 100% verdicchio wine aged on its lees for 10 years and produced in only the best years.
Both wineries are biodynamic, a method which aims to improve the health of land and its surrounding ecosystem through farming.
Please join us for an 8 course meal with Amy Wadman, Natalino Crognaletti, and Mirco Lucamarini featuring Black Cat Farm chicken, pork, lamb, and produce.

A word from Black Cat
Black Cat Farm Table Bistro serves inspired, organic cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own 130 acre farm. By day, Chef-Farmer Eric Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.
The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions. Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar, and vary in focus from Northern Italy to organic wines of the Pacific Northwest. Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits and local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life. The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room.

Diner Reviews
  • "The Chef's tasting menu and wine paring was fantastic. The Chef came to the table with a couple of the courses to tell the story of the dish. It was obvious that he loves food and loves to cook. He described being in the farm fields that morning selecting fresh produce and how his evening dishes evolve from what he discovered there. His energy and talents were quite evident as the entire meal was fresh, finely crafted and delicious. Our somallier complimented not only the dining experience but also the social experience. He has an incredible knowledge of wine and offered wonderful tastings complimenting each plate. He presented them with great technical descriptions and an affable personality that we looked forward to with each course."

  • "We have enjoyed the dining experience at Black Cat on four different occasions in the last 2 years. We are drawn to the amazing food and wine, but we don't go as often as we would like because it is a bit pricey. Dinner for two, wine, and an overall great experience will cost you $275 with gratuity. If you can afford it...it will be worth it!"

  • "About 5 days before we ate At fresco and I have to say that black cat is still my fav. I will say that service can sometimes be a bit rough but the food more than makes up for it. We drive 2 hours to eat here when craving the best dinning experience. The tasting menue transports you to a different world."

  • "Simply the best restaurant in Boulder for now, after my top favorite went out of business ... Excellent dinner, very carefully and skillfully prepared."

  • "One of our absolute favorite restaurants in the world. After having lived in Boulder for 8 years, and being "regulars", we moved out of state. We always make it a point to return to beautiful Boulder, Colorado. A must of every visit is dinner at Black Cat. Eric is an artist with his meals and their presentation. The service is unequalled. The cocktails are exquisite, and always another highlight of the evening."

  • "Probably the finest meal I've had in the US. Had the chef's tasting menu, both regular and vegetarian versions at our table, and a recommended wine. Incredible subtle flavors, textures and creative combinations of fresh local ingredients for six courses and dessert. Each course was accompanied by an explanation of the components and preparation. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, nice pacing, superb food...what more could you ask? I've enjoyed Chef Eric's greens from the farmers market for years and this completes the picture."

  • "The food is fantastic, and their chef's tasting makes it great for anyone that doesn't want to make choices. You never really know what you're going to get, and as far as I'm concerned, that's a great thing. For those who know exactly what type of food they want, they have a regular menu to make a selection from. The service there is impeccable, I was never wondering where the wait staff was. It is my girlfriend and my favorite dining in the area. It's a must try!!!"

  • "My husband, daughter and I truly enjoyed our experience. We enjoy watching all the Food network shows and recently we have been exploring the local food scene and branching out of our comfort zone. I thought I would be intimidated at your restaurant, but because everyone was so friendly, we felt very comfortable and welcomed. The food was delicious from start to finish and it was exciting being surprised by the 7 courses! I highly recommend the Chef-tasting option!"

  • "excellent food and presentation; it is a bit pricey, but the value is there. Chef-owned and Eric is there; it shows in the care the staff takes to be sure diners are happy."

  • "The food was fantastic and the service was just as good. They are a farm-to-table restaurant so their menu changes daily based on what's in season and what is high quality and available. For this reason, the menu is small, which I like because I'm not overwhelmed with too many choices."

  • "I had the pleasure of dining solo at the Black Cat while on vacation and was seated at the chef's table, which provided a great view of the busy, professional staff. Chef Eric was a kind, accommodating host, and served up an amazing tasting menu that was so much more affordable than anything I would find in my hometown. Being a farm-to-table establishment, the chef places a lot of unique embellishments that really enhance the food (arugula flowers, young coriander seeds, fresh herbs, etc.). The ambiance is relaxed yet refined, and the noise level is quiet. Highly recommended for great food and excellent service."

  • "We had a lovely meal at the Black Cat to celebrate our anniversary. We had the vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings. The food is so fresh and creative. A few of the delicious courses were turnip soup, fresh ricotta with grilled peaches and local greens, vegetable curry, and berries and panna cotta. These things may sound like you've had them before, but with most of the food grown on Eric's Black Cat Farm and the inventive sauces and garnishes, every bit is a little taste explosion. Service is lovely and attentive. We also brought a dozen people here for a work event last month. There is a private room in the back that's perfect for 10-20 people. Everyone loved the food. They accommodated gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, etc. Yum"

  • "We made reservations for 6 pm and were seated in a quite nook in the back of the restaurant. The chef and staff at the Black Cat were totally gracious and understanding about my dietary needs. We ordered the duck, rabbit and beef entrees. They were all beautifully prepared and presented at the table. Absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back to treat family and friends experience the joys of a Black Cat dining experience."

  • "Excellent attentive service without being intrusive. They were out of our wine selection, but the sommelier came right over with other similar selections at our same price point. The charcoutier plate was delicious and the entrees were just the right size and had just the right amount of flavor; absolutely excellent. The noise level was low and we were able to carry on a conversation without feeling like we were raising our voices."

  • "They try very hard to make it a fine dining experience. The wait staff was bordering on pretentious, but not very professional. They were very eager to be of service, but dishes were given to the wrong people, etc. The flow of food coming out of the kitchen was also poor, but the food served was very good. Good food cannot overcome awkward service. Both shape the dining experience for me."

  • "This true farm to table restaurant outstanding. It feels like dining in a private home where your host personally cultivated and prepared each dish."

  • " Recently my wife and I dined at The Black Cat to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It provided for the perfect dining experience to enhance our wedding anniversary observance. The food was delectable and the service was outstanding."

  • "We were a party of five. One of us did the chef's tasting menu and it was lovely. Just enough food to make you feel like you got your $ worth, but not enough to make you feel stuffed. The rest ordered a la carte. Several of us had dietary issues and they accommodated everyone beautifully. It is lovingly prepared fresh locally sourced food, but not pretentious in any way, very approachable. The interior atmosphere of the restaurant leaves a little be be desired - feels old, and slightly grungy, but the food is the highlight here."

  • "Our group of four were first time visitors. The staff was friendly, without being intrusive. The food was very good. The wine selection is among the best I have seen. Be prepared for the price for the wines, but easily one of the best French places to eat I have been to."

  • "The Black Cat is always at the top of our list for special occasion meals. Eric and his team take great care to prepare every item on the plate to perfection. The best duck confit I have ever had. You can taste the farm to table freshness in everything. This restaurant is a must if you want to experience the best Boulder has to offer."

  • "This was our second visit to Black Cat and our second venture into the Chef's Recommendation Menu with the Premium Wine Pairings. Such a fantastic experience. The Som explained each wine and why it was paired with the food selection. Very interesting and delicious wines. The food is simply amazing. The portions are perfect as well."

  • "I would describe this restaurant as upscale, healthy eclectic food wit a funcy upscale vibe. We sat in the private booth table and ordered the tasting menu which was a delicious mix of local vegetables fish and meat. Delicious! We also ordered a wonderful bottle of wine which the somalier helped us to choose. It was a dining experience. And, we left feeling satisfied, but still healthy."

  • "We had heard so much about Frasca but had a very surly waiter & the food although good was not outstanding. Black Cat FAR surpasses FRasca in every detail. Will not go back to Frasca but will return constantly to The Black Cat."

  • "This was our second time celebrating our anniversary at Black Cat. We love the table in the little alcove - so private! This time we had the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairings and it was exceptional! I don't eat meat and they were very accommodating. Each course was exquisite and we loved learning about each wine from the friendly sommelier. The service was top notch. We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience!"

  • "If you want great food, definitely go to Black Cat! The food is astounding and the prices are reasonable for a high end restaurant. The dishes are expertly prepared and marvelously balanced flavors every single time. I would definitely recommend doing the tasting menu and allowing them to surprise with some truly amazing food. The wine list is ok - the problem is that you have to be prepared to pay to play. The starting point on bottle prices is pretty steep - unnecessarily so. There are plenty of great wines in the restaurant mark up price of less than $50 a bottle but you won't find any of them on their menu. "

  • "We all enjoyed the Chef's 7 course sampler of food and wine. Every bite was delicious and the wine sampling was a great learning experience with fabulous choices. The friendly staff moved around silently. The chef came by twice and discussed the farming aspect of the business and ingredients he chose. The sommelier had a vast knowledge of wines, grapes and reasons for the flavors. We all loved this special evening (4 hours) and will go back for other occasions. "

  • "Three friends chose the vegetarian tasting menu recently. Two of the dishes were outstanding, the others tasty but modest. As others have commented, the size of the portions is problematic: we all felt content but hungry at the end of the meal. Given the prices ($100+ per person), that is not acceptable. The bread was mediocre, not really focaccia as claimed. The wine list offers very few bottles under $70; there are so many great wine prospects out there that this should be addressed. I've lived in Boulder for decades, been to the Black Cat on other occasions, really support the farm-to-table ethos, but think other restaurants now surpass Black Cat at this price point. "
