  • "I have had many a memorable experience at the Avenue Grill, and my most recent birthday celebration there was no exception. We requested and got a table by the window on 17th Avenue. As always the atmosphere was enchanting...a tolerable noise level but not so loud that one couldn't hear their companions or so quiet one could hear a pin drop. The service was impeccable. no hovering but the staff seemed to be there when it was required. Lastly, the staff was more than willing to accommodate our requests for splitting entrees and salads. I'd return more often if I could afford it! Tremendous! Here's to another 25 years for the Avenue Grill!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner, great service and a wonderful time at this restaurant. I highly recommend the pork chop w/bleu cheese mashed potatoes. I also had a fantastic margarita there. I'd go back any day."

  • "We wanted a charming restaurant in this location, as we were going to a 9pm show nearby. We enjoyed the vibrant activity of the Grill as we entered, but our experience went down hill fast shortly after being seated...mainly because the service was HORRIBLE, not to be blamed by our server, but the kitchen. Our order wasn't complicated, calamari app. Burger, Spinach Salmon salad, Wedge and cup of chowder took us 1 hr to get served! We walked in at 745 and recd our main entrees at 845 and now we had to rush to eat get our bill to get to our show. And it was sooooooo loud it was difficult to chat as we waited for food. The wedge for 10.00 paled to the 5.5 wedge we just had the night b4 at Ted's Montana Grill. Wont go back."

  • "Interesting well prepared menu. Excellent service. Room needs sound acoustic. At times we were unable to hear the conversation at our own table."

  • "Food not outstanding. love the place--good for a glass of wine. Food mediocre. I had cioppino, broth too think, fish and shrimp overcooked."

  • "My husband and I dined at Avenue Grill for the first time during Restaurant Week. We were impressed by the beautiful space, the friendly and attentive staff, and the tasty entrees. Overall, I would describe our experience as comfortable and fulfilling. We were very pleased with our choice to try this restaurant."

  • "our visit to the restaurant was greeted by a host wasn't quite as friendly as we would have liked to seen. But other than that everything else was a 5-star rating."

  • "The host showed us to our seats upon entering and the staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Our waitress was slow to take our drink order and slow to deliver our wine. It's nice they offered their regular menu as well as the Restaurants' Week menu. The fig-prosciutto flat bread appetizer was nothing special, but the chicken with polenta and the steaks were good."

  • "The restaurant was very welcoming and had a mixed clientele - groups, couples, etc. Our server was friendly and attentive; one of the guests asked questions about the food choices and the server gave a review that swayed us. They were non intrusive and would stop by at the right time to clear our dishes and provide more water. The food was beautifully presented, well cooked and delicious. We attended Restaurant Week and the restaurant provided a variety of choices. We really appreciated being able to take advantage of the Happy Hour cocktails."

  • "A few of us decided to dine out at a local hot spot. On arrival, the host graciously seated us, explained menu choices then left us to chat. Gwen, the most patient, cordial and accommodating person, I've met, pleasantly answered all questions. She continuously checked on us to make certain everything was ok. She even discounted a % off the steak that wasn't cooked well done as requested. Couldn't have asked for better service!; 5 star dinning! Awesome food! We ordered prosciutto, clam chowder, squash soup;. Next, the steak and cioppino entrees. The cioppino dish; absolutely the best;flavored wonderfully. Besides the steak issue, my friends loved theirs. Chocolate cake and key lime pie; the tip of the iceberg! Awesome ! we'll be back!"

  • "The selections for restaurant week were a bit limited, but the night's special was prime rib, which was the best we've had in a long time. service was prompt and courteous, despite the restaurant being very busy. We'd definitely retun for an every day meal. Well worth the high ratings."

  • "Overall good experience, food was best part of the visit. Although took advantage of Restaurant Week pricing, food at regular menu pricing would rate a good value. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back."

  • "Ave Grill has THE best happy hour in town. If you are a martini lover, this is your place. They provide the shaker with your cocktail that always has almost a full 2nd pour! Best bartenders. It is our "go to" restaurant!"

  • "service was slow and the food was average at best. Mussels were sandy and gritty, big letdown....."

  • "My best friend and I celebrated Valentine's Day together at the Grill. We had a wonderful time, with kind caring service and amazing food. We couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate. Thank You!"

  • "This favorite of many years has old building character in a great urban setting. The menu is a foody's delight, the food is superb, but the atmosphere is casual enough to want to make it a hangout. Service has always been knowledgeable and excellent. The one minor detraction is that a little sound proofing would be in order to better enable conversation with someone not immediately next to you. However, you can request a seating location and it won't be ignored. Bottom line, don't miss it!"

  • "The food was very good. Menu has something for everyone - from burgers to duck. However, the service was extremely slow. Admittedly we had a large group and the restaurant was full but we had to flag down our wait staff if we needed anything. Don't recall him stopping by to ask how we were doing or how the food was. The wine list (by the glass) is limited, 2 choices per category. We experienced a major problem with dessert. The creme brulee was curdled -- consistency of ricotta cheese."

  • "We dine at Avenue Grill about once a month. Its food and service are generally top notch. This time I was disappointed in the Tortellini. Although the taste and quality were good, it was drowned in sauce that was extremely oily. It had 3 or 4 times the amount of sauce needed. On the plus side, the service was very attentive and prompt and the noise level was less intrusive."

  • "When we arrived, I told the host I had reservations and I received several questions to clarify my name and time etc...this seemed odd since the restaurant was hardly busy. The host should immediately greet and welcome customers instead of staring at them and asking them questions when they arrive. The host then took his time trying to decide what table, etc...wo we waited to be seated even though we were right on time and restaurant wasn't very busy. We received water but then waited and waited for our wine to be served...in fact the whole night was spent waiting. Very slow service but the food was excellent! Strange atmosphere, couldn't really hear any music and unfriendly employees ...Very pricey for what you get....Thanks."

  • "In Denver for the weekend, we came across Avenue Grill, easily walkable from downtown. It has the feel of a nice neighborhood place. The food is good, the lamb stew special that night perfect for a chilly winter evening. Our server was wonderful, taking extra time and care with a difficult to find stellar bottle of wine (on the list for less than retail!) that became a challenge when the cork broke. She handled it, and the evening, quite well. We'll be happy to return."

  • "We had a great experience at Avenue Grill this weekend. Our food was phenomenal, the service good, and it was lovely to enjoy the falling snow through all of the windows along 17th ave."

  • "Have loved this place for years and they're still making it work. Of our 3 meals, two were great but the burger was a mess. Cold, stale bun, unappetizing lettuce and tomato, poorly done grilled onions (and very few of them) and tasteless meat. Bad night for the burger but the food and ambience will keep us coming back again and again."
