We had a great cab sauvignon and the ambiance was very romantic. However, the lighting was a little too dim. When I received my chicken dish, I couldn't even see what I was cutting. Maybe they should add some candles to the tables if they want to keep the lighting that dim. Other than that, it was great, fresh food
Simply put this place is divine. If you can't enjoy yourself here, you can't enjoy yourself anywhere.
Great food, amazing wine, and the service was impeccable!
It was really nice! Excellent waiter, really good food! I loved it!
Wilde is, simply put, one of my favorite places to drink and dine in LA. Not only is the ambiance perfectly suited to a night on the town with friends or with that special someone (guys...it's a perfect date spot!), but the service is extremely friendly and helpful. The staff are all very knowledgeable about wine and food pairings, and are great at making delicious recommendations based on your preferred taste profile. The owner is often seen on the premises hanging out with locals; she's very sweet and has done a wonderful favor to the mid-City and WeHo area to have opened Wilde's doors. It's worth traveling in from even farther afield for a relaxing and fun evening...you're sure to leave happily full and having tasted a number of unusual wines, often difficult to find elsewhere! Wilde's relationships with vintners also really pays off - frequent wine flight nights (Wednesdays) mean lots to try, and new favorites to discover! YUM. Make it a point to visit!
The owner was in and so lovely & personal; came to chat with us, it felt like we were in someone's home having dinner. really smart stylish atmosphere, but not crazy busy. We were recommended a lovely Spanish wine (Jord I think) that I would not have normally picked but it was fabulous, they really knew their stuff and were great at recommending. I didn't try, but love that they offer flights of wine. They had a good range of wines in terms of price too.
Food wise, we went for the steak (cooked to perfection, actually rare as asked) and pasta. We shared the meatballs and mushroom anrancini (recommended by our server and rightly so!).
I'll definitely be back for their winemaker nights and cheese boards.
First visit to Wilde and will now become a regular! This is a cozy wine bar with excellent food and wine list, and a very welcoming, attentive staff. Loved the $12 flight of excellent California wines, a great way to try new tastes. Our server, Kim, was just lovely. Highly recommend for get-togethers with friends or for a romantic date night. Wilde has a comfortable neighborhood vibe... Really look forward to returning.
I hate to do this, but I was terribly disappointed in my dining experience. I was expecting so much from Wilde, but it fell flat. Friday night 9pm and the place was empty, I was shocked. We chose to stay and experience it, but the service and the food barely scratched the surface of mediocracy. They had to even search for straws, quite absurd for me as I'm in the LA dining scene, it was just too bad it turned out this way. The place is pretty, nothing wildly special.
There are a lot of good restaurants in this part of mid city but unfortunately Wilde is not one of them. The service was outstanding and the wine very good, but the food was just ok. The flavors and techniques throughout our meal were just lacking which was unfortunate because the menu sounded fantastic.
We loved the new interior, comfortable but chic, really nice. The service was fantastic. The place was slow when we arrived, but half full by the time we left, hope more people catch on to this lovely little spot. We felt comfortable immediately. If you need to wait, or are just there for a drink, the small lounge area is quite inviting.
There were some nice appetizer choices.. We were not crazy about the eggplant parmesan, it just seemed to be missing something, but the meatballs were good and we would definitely would try the antipasti next time, some people next to us got it and it looked fantastic! We are also interested in trying a charcuterie plate.
The mussels were lovely, light and good, with an order of hot delicious fries. the star of the show was the special that night, which was a seabass. It was done to perfection, and came with little fingerling potatoes, carrots and spinach, definitely delicious.
The wine list was nice, there were some safe bets and also some interesting, eclectic wines, something for everyone. They were well informed about the wines and that is a big plus.
There is a valet in front, in case you are not fortunate to get a spot on LaBrea to park, another BIG plus for us.
We will be back, we really enjoyed it!
Our visit came from the recommendation of a friend. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our experience at Wilde - great food, great wine, and awesome service. The owner and server even took some time to talk to us toward the end and make sure everything was to our liking. The next time we visit California, we will be back!
My friend and I happened upon this great little restaurant on a Friday night and loved it so much we took some friends back on Sunday! The wine list is so interesting and the food is great. I recommend the cheese board and the fettuccine with pesto made me feel like I was in Italy eating! Great place.
My girlfriend and I went for an early bite and a glass of wine. Fantastic food and great wine list. Great neighborhood spot. We'll be back.
I was able to relax and enjoy the meal...much needed after problems with the valet....or lack of one. The manager fixed this problem, but the location requires a valet and this should be fixed.
THe food was good, maybe great for the location, but was a few years behind the food scene over the hill in B.H. and the Westside....though they charged as if they were cutting edge. Did I enjoy the food, yes, as did my date, but it felt as if we were in a time warp.
Would I go back...no. Am I unhappy I went...no.
A big fan of Chef Joe Youkhan, showing his talents on Eat St and The Taste, and absolutely love his way of making fantastic combinations of flavors that will make any foodie melt. Showing off his talents of making pasta with sauces made in a kitchen no bigger than his food truck, amazes me every time - handmade gnocchi, squid ink pasta. Also brought some favorites from his truck like the Aranchi. The owner and sommelier matched the perfect wines with each course which sent my taste buds into orgasmic wonderment. I hope Chef Joe can to this again. It's totally worth the drive!
