We love dining outside, and Vivace is our favorite in Raleigh. We started with the Brussels sprouts, the best we’ve had anywhere, along with the yummy meatballs as appetizers. For entrees the bolognese is always a winner with the house-made wide pasta and perfectly seasoned meat sauce. My husband got the gnocchi and said he will order that again next time. Highly recommended! Please bring the original zeppoles back!!!!! That was our favorite dessert. So good with the caramel and chocolate sauces. The new recipe doesn’t come close. Lastly, Marvin is a great server! So pleasant and knowledgeable. Just attentive enough and always good recommendations.
Service was wonderful an the food was great. The Sprouts were a great appetizer and I never thought I would say that! Price was very good too! Will definitely be returning!
We had a great meal and they were very accommodating! We increased the number of people on a busy night. They handled it beautifully. We arrived early and were promptly seated. The hostess and waiter could not have been nicer. Great experience!!
Seared scallop & Risotto is ALWAYS amazing. Caesar salad not so much. Great atmosphere and service
Great time, food was delicious! Can't wait to go back and sit on the patio!
Always good food and fun atmosphere!
Above and beyond!
Vivace serves perhaps the most authentic and delicious pizzas in North Carolina
MIX-UP WITH FOOD ALLERGY: Group of 6 and overall we had a nice time and enjoyed the food. However one of our group had an allergy to peppers which she explained clearly to the waitstaff and was promised that her food did not (and would not) contain any peppers, and yet it did. She did not realize this until it was too late. Not life threatening for her, but still had a bad reaction and had to call off our after-dinner plans. For others with allergies this could have been much more dangerous, so when a patron takes the time to clearly explain their allergy, I would hope the waitstaff and kitchen would take the time to take it seriously as well.
Great food and atmosphere! Love the outdoor seating.
We had horrible service. Our waiter never introduced himself and walked by our table, backed up, and then quickly blurted out the special for the evening, before walking away. We asked for a bottle of pinot grigio but he did not clarify which bottle and walked off to go find something. He cleared plates that we were still eating from and walked away with the wine bottle before realizing it was not empty. Poor service. Dim lighting made it hard to see (even for us 30 year olds) and it was loud and hard to hear the conversation at our table. The food was good but service was just completely lackluster and left a bad taste in our mouths.
I am never disappointed when eating there. Food and service are always exceptional.
Great meal as always. It was a little loud and would have preferred something quieter, but it was Friday evening. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw and you get seated next to someone who doesn't have noise control. Food was outstanding as was service. Wish they would expand so you would have more room between tables and less likely to be overwhelmed with noise.
Love the Brussel sprouts with bacon. Salmon entree was outstanding.
Wonderful food and very worth the price, but I didn't get the outstanding service I would expected to accompany the price tag. I'm a planner, so I looked at the dinner menu ahead of time and decided that the gnocchi and mushroom dish would be delicious. However it took roughly 10 minutes after I placed my order for our server to return and inform me they were "out of the gnocchi." I was asked what else I was interested in, and I was forced to make an on-the-spot decision, which I really wasn't happy about. (It took longer than I expected for our server to return and take our initial orders, so I wasn't about to ask him to leave and then come back. Besides, what had happened to my dining partner's order that *was* in stock? Had it already been placed?) I ended up ordering the ravioli, and it was very good, but the service, in my opinion, was sub-par. In addition, the wine I ordered, which was by no means the most expensive wine on the list, was remarkably bland. I expected better of even the least expensive wine on the list. All in all I've made the decision that I won't be recommending Vivace to a friend...unless you have a surplus of money to burn and buy yourself better service.
We went with my elderly Mom for an early Easter lucheon and while the service was a little slow at the begining, they quickly caught up and thought overall a great place for lunch or dinner. Menu was very creative and the most unusual bruschetta I ever had but excellment. Even great for kids as they both into many items on the menu. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.
As usual, Vivace did not disappoint. We took a seat at the "kitchen counter" in the back of the restaurant and had fun watching the action. Our first course was the steamed PEI mussels in a savory broth, it was very good. Some mussels were slightly over steamed, most were great, broth was amazing. As you would expect, the best part was dipping the wood fired grilled bread in the broth. Our second courses were the Pappardelle and the lamb. Both dishes were very good, the lamb the better of the two. The Pappardelle was nicely balanced, pasta was the right amount of tenderness and the goat cheese was not too heavy, it did not overwhelm the dish. The lamb was cooked medium (a little much for us, typically go for medium rare), had a nice crust on the exterior and was presented lollypop style. For wine, we selected a nice Barolo which paired well with the lamb and the Bolognese pasta sauce. For our desert course we shared the Olive Oil pound cake. The lemon sauce over top combined with the strawberries gave a nice acidity to the dish. The pound cake was not too dense and was baked expertly. Plate looked very well put together except for the powdered sugar which I believe was added as garnish (not needed). All in all another great experience at VIvace. I will be back and do recommend.
I am so happy to leave a review for Vivace in Raleigh. I made this reservation as part of a get away weekend for my fiance's birthday. Upon arrival we were seated at a lovely table near the open kitchen and promptly served a complimentary glass of champagne for a birthday toast- such a nice welcome! Marvin was the perfect waiter- impeccable service, knowledgeable about the menu and a warm personality. He was also very accommodating about us ordering one course at a time so we could linger over the meal and enjoy. Each course- we had 5- got better and better which says a lot because the cheese and meat board we started with was amazing. The don't miss items from our meal (you can't go wrong with anything in our opinion) were the parsnip soup (I know- but yes REALLY!) and the ricotta gnocchi (the best this Italian girl from NYC has ever had!). The beautiful wine list and unique cocktails are reason enough to visit Vivace but you would be missing out if you didn't wander through their menu. So excited to know there is a Vivace here in Charlotte, where we live, as well.
Vivace was a great experience; the food was fantastic. Only negative thing I can say is I wasn’t expecting it to be as loud as it was - The vibe felt more like a hipster coffee bar than a romantic restaurant but nevertheless, I still enjoyed it!
Excellent food and good service. Cozy and hip dining experience. No major issues.
It was good, though the entree arrived before I finished my cocktail. The sword fish was just ok, likely frozen.
Vivace never disappoints! We all loved everything we had. Two fish dishes cooked to perfection! Try the Brussels sprouts--you won't be sorry!
had a very enjoyable and good dinner. service was very good and the atmosphere was lovely
The atmosphere, food, and service were all great. Well worth the money.
Great place with excellent food and service. Feels like you are in Italy including the service. Love this place.
Overall, Vivace is a fine place to dine. I ordered the ribeye and it was well cooked and very tasty. The bread is great that comes w the meals. Appetizers and soups were very good too. Service was excellent. The table beside us did have a bug in their appetizer which was a little concerning but otherwise, a good experience.
Not a bad place to eat, but crowded and a bit overpriced . Staff seems to be overworked as well (not that, that's the waiters fault; they were running around like crazy). Also, a little hard to locate thanks to a minimalist, poorly lit sign.
Overall look is very trendy though.
My meal at Vivace was absolutely outstanding! It is hard to find quality Italian meals that aren't completely smothered in red sauce. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection, the flavors were delicious and our waiter didn't steer us wrong with recommendations. Will 100% be back for sure!!
Solid Midtown restaurant with good food and service. Great vibes but noisy. They seem to rush you.
This was our first time at Vivace. The food was perfect and I am very picky! Our server was one of the best we have had. His name is William and will definately ask for him next time. Very clean restaurant and the food was presented well.
Our only complaint was the noise level. We were seated next to the bar which was full and lively. Perhaps, you would want to chose to dine on a weekday night or be seated further away if yiu want to carry on a conversation.
Went here for dinner with a friend. I hadn’t been in a few years and was pleasantly surprised at the blend of patrons present for an early Saturday evening - the bar was not too loud or overrun and the dining room was cozy with mostly small groups including a few families. Food way better than I remembered — interesting flavor combinations and great portion sizes. Service was great. Will definitely be back more often in the future.
We had a nice time with our friends and the food was great. We ended up having to wait on our friends who were late, but the waiter was patient with us. Food quality and taste was great, but we thought menu prices were a little high especially for the quantity of food that came with pastas and entrees. Pizzas were a better deal and we really enjoyed the roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer.
Food and service was both fabulous as always. Our waiter Jaime was great. However, we had a family next to us where the two young children were really rambunctious. I don’t think this is really a restaurant for young children and it was more up to the parents to keep them in line. They were running around in the very tight areas between the tables and no one said anything to them. We finally had to say something. It didn’t ruin the meal but certainly changed the ambiance.
Great as slwsyst
Server was very good - friendly, attentive but not intrusive. I split a salad with my friend and there was more than enough for us both. We also shared a flatbread that was tasty and HUGE! Wasn't too happy with the sangria. It's made mostly from seltzer water (?) and not so much wine and one small orange slice thrown in. I won't order it again. Other than that, the dining experience was very nice.
We had a lovely time.
We don’t eat here often because it’s not near our home, but every time we come, it’s great. Three times in a row now, we’ve had the same booth and the same waiter. HE KNEW MY ORDER! I swear. Every time. We haven’t eaten there in MONTHS. Amazing. Love this place. Don’t miss the Brussels sprouts!
First time at this place. The waiter was very attentive to all of our needs and very knowledgeable with the menu. Noise level was fine even with the restaurant full. Will go back again
I have come to this restaurant several times and the place has not disappointed yet. Will come back as the food is good, prices fair and wine selection diverse.
Celebrated a friend’s birthday and had such a great time. Marvin is the best server on the planet and treats each client like a VIP.
