Excellent food, ambience, service without compare. The night we were there the AC was not able to keep up with all the hot air in the room but it did not take away from a lovely experience. I will be going back.

Lovely food and service! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful! We had the French onion soup, the NY strip, and a burger special that was all delicious!! The lemon tart was incredible, and we had profiteroles for dessert as well! It was all wonderful. Highly recommend.

We just happened to pick the night that Mexico and Turkey were playing a big soccer match in Chapel Hill so the restaurant was packed with fans in team colors and was very noisy, a big change from our usual experience at this restaurant. Tallula’s is our “go to” eatery for every occasion or just a great meal. As usual the food and service were superb in spite of the crowd. Can’t wait to go back again soon! Definitely a restaurant that everyone should try at least once!!!

Food and Service were great. Noise was such that you could have a conversation. The only issue is there is none. What is around the building says permit required, one hour parking, violatiors will be towed. The Hostess said she "didn't think they enforced it after 5 pm" and I hope you'll be OK. We were ok but having the Hostess being able to tell you where you caan park with some confidence would have made the evening more enjoyable.

We ordered four different menu items. Three were well prepared. The Fruit of the Sea I ordered was almost inedible. It came with a layer of fried squid which had been cooked to the point of carbonization. The shrimp and two scallops were fine and the pasta in the middle was attractive. If the squid had been sauteed or the dish had included a broiled fish it would have been OK. The charcoaled squid scattered over the dish were not good. For $35.00 I expect more than what was delivered. I started with a Ceasar salad which was average. Not bad, not worth a noteworthy mention. It contained a number of large lettuce stems. I kind of expected for a higher end restaurant more care would have been taken with the ingredients. At the end of the meal we had tiramisu which was very good. I ordered a coffee which came out tepid. Our waiter took it back and made a new pot of coffee. The second cup brought out was as one would expect for a $4.00 cup. Our server was attentive to keeping our water glasses filled and took our order in a timely manner. The noise level was low enough to be able to carry on a conversation with ease.

This was our first time in Durham and we were looking for something out of the ordinary. We were very successful in going to this restaurant. While the food occasionally tries a little too hard to be different and innovative, the overall effect is wonderful. We particularly enjoyed the ribeye, and the clams and mussels dishes.
